Chapter 682 - Everyone with Ulterior Motives
Chapter 682: Everyone with Ulterior Motives
*Crash!*
Xia Fei’s sign, which declared that he could heal all types of illnesses, was made from sand willow wood. Several warriors, overcome with anger, immediately smashed the sign to bits.
“And you claim that you can heal all illnesses? You’re just a quack!” a muscular Flame Imp warrior stomped on the sign as he bellowed.
Seth stood in front of Xia Fei, glaring as he shouted, “Are you trying to start a revolt?!”
This move not only failed to suppress the public anger but incited even more bellows of fury from the crowd.
Xia Fei smiled and pulled Seth back, apparently not worried about how these people were acting.
Lu Qian, thinking that Xia Fei was afraid, attempted to rile up the crowd even more. There were many Flame Imps present, and if they killed Xia Fei in rage, Chieftain Juen would find it very hard to assign blame to any particular person. After all, the law could not punish the masses.
“Son, what’s wrong?! Can you talk?!” The mother’s heart-wrenching voice resounded in everyone’s hearts. As Lu Qian egged on the crowd further, the ignorant onlookers began to approach Xia Fei slowly.
Seth clenched his fists. There were several thousand people in here, and many of them were Law Adepts of the Flame Imps Tribe. If a fight broke out, it would certainly be a messy one.
The situation was getting more and more serious, and some were even starting to throw hard objects at Xia Fei. Seth stood at Xia Fei’s side and blocked these attacks again and again. Someone even threw a pair of stinky shoes!
“What do we do? Why don’t I just kill them all?” Seth crouched next to Xia Fei and whispered. He had endured it all this time, refusing to use the Crag Defense. It wasn’t that long since he had attempted to enslave the Flame Imps, and there were few warriors with the Protection Law. If he used it, he would undoubtedly be recognized.
“One careless move and the whole game is lost. Endure,” Xia Fei sternly ordered.
‘Argh!’ Seth sighed and stomped his feet.
The crowd had already pushed their way into the tent and were only several meters away from Xia Fei. The guards anxiously scratched their heads, at a loss on what to do. This was essentially mob violence. Although they had the duty of protecting Xia Fei, they did not dare to oppose so many people.
In this perilous moment, someone had gone to inform Chieftain Juen and Adviser Joey; alas, those were distant waters unable to quench the nearby thirst. By the time they arrived, this place would have probably descended into utter chaos.
Now that he was done provoking the crowd, Lu Qian retreated into the shadows and secretly chuckled to himself. ‘You can’t run away this time! Boast as much as you want! Healing all sorts of illnesses in the world? Think about a way to get out of this predicament first!’
Suddenly, in the middle of the crowd’s agitation, when it could erupt at any moment, the mother’s shrill cry was heard.
“Son, you’re awake!”
The crowd heard this and looked over at Stuart.
The youth’s body was covered in sweat, and he appeared like someone who was just beginning to recover from a serious illness. However, though his body was weak, his eyes were particularly energetic. He called his mother.
Xia Fei stood up, his face grim as he said, “All of you, stand aside.”
His voice was low and carried an invisible majesty that no one could resist.
*Whoosh~*
The crowd’s anger rose quickly, and it dissipated even more quickly. With incredible speed, they withdrew from the tent and anxiously watched Xia Fei and Stuart.
Xia Fei walked over, squatted, and placed a finger on Stuart’s temple. He closed his eyes and used his mental energy to inspect Stuart’s seventh brain region.
A few moments later, Xia Fei put down his arm and gave a smiling nod. “The blockage has been cleared, but as too much time has passed, the brain region has been severely damaged, so you’ve only reach 27% opening. In the future, if you diligently cultivate, you may be able to become a standard Law Warrior, but there’s no hope of reaching the elite level.”
The place became eerily silent; even the sound of breathing was suppressed.
No one dared to believe it. Several apothecaries had already proclaimed that there was no saving Stuart, but Xia Fei had cured him! It was also to a level where the boy could use 27% of his brain region!
“Thank you!” Stuart was still young, so it took some time for him to come up with these two words. The gratitude was written all over his face, and his mother was moved to tears, sobbing so much that she could not even speak.
“Go back and rest. I’ll mix a few bottles of medicine for you, which can assist you in the recovery process. This time wasn’t entirely because of me. That you’re able to withstand the ferocity of the medicine means that you have a decent resolve. If you work hard, you won’t necessarily be worse than others,” Xia Fei patted Stuart on the shoulder and said encouragingly.
“Hurrah!”
“Long live!”
“Long live the divine doctor!”
“Incredible! Master Ah Fei is truly a divine doctor who can heal all types of illnesses!”
The people excitedly cheered as if Xia Fei had cured their sons. At this time, no one doubted him, and their suspicion was completely replaced by sincere respect.
This was like a sharp slap in Lu Qian’s face. In a flash, all of the ill feelings he had stirred up in the crowd were wiped away.
Was there anything else to be said? A patient whom Lu Qian had declared beyond saving was successfully cured by Xia Fei. Only ten-some minutes had passed, with Stuart and his mother going between hell and heaven. Even a fool could see who was the better apothecary between Xia Fei and Lu Qian.
...
That night, Chieftain Juen once more dedicated a feast to Xia Fei and Lu Qian. Lu Qian said that he was feeling indigestion and could not come. Everyone knew that he was too ashamed to come, but they decided not to expose him and just let him be.
The next morning, a new sign was set up outside Xia Fei’s tent. Written on it was: ‘Divine Doctor of the Universe’. From this, one could see that the Flame Imps Tribe had already put Xia Fei on the same level as Divine Doctor Chen Ziqiang.
Oro felt like this sign was far too flashy, but Xia Fei simply smiled. He allowed that flashy sign to stay there, making no comment on its presence.
The strangest of all was Lu Qian. After one night, Master Lu had seemingly become an entirely different person. Every morning, he would come to greet Xia Fei and even ask him some questions about pharmacology. Even when people criticized him behind his back, he endured it all. He no longer acted like the Master Lu of before.
Xia Fei continued his practice of only treating the difficult patients. Every afternoon, he would come to his tent and take a look around, examining the patients that Lu Qian either was not sure about or could not cure.
Lu Qian did not try to hide when the diagnoses were taking place. He listened on the side, his eyes constantly moving around as he mentally noted down all the prescriptions Xia Fei made.
On the fourth day, Seth finally could not bear it and warned Xia Fei that Lu Qian was stealing his knowledge.
Xia Fei simply laughed, which mystified Seth, and he decided to just drop the matter.
It soon became known throughout the planet that Chieftain Juen’s tribe was playing host to a divine doctor who could heal all sorts of illnesses. Every day, patients from different villages across the planet would come to pay a visit.
Xia Fei continued with his ways, first having them go to Lu Qian; only if Lu Qian could do nothing would they be allowed to come to him. In four days, ten-some patients with difficult-to-treat conditions were cured through Xia Fei’s miraculous hands. Though the number of patients was not many, the effects were simply astonishing! After all, these people had been suffering from essentially untreatable illnesses, and another apothecary would have already given a death verdict.
In a flash, Xia Fei’s reputation in the Flame Imps Tribe had reached the apex and was beyond comparison!
...
On the night of the fourth day, a fierce wind stirred. Black clouds obscured the moon and howling sands began to blow around the tents. A rare sandstorm had arrived without warning.
The feast ended, and Xia Fei and Lu Qian returned to their tents.
Dozens minutes later, Chieftain Juen and Apothecary Lu Qian took out their phones, each calling a self-proclaimed top-class expert of the Exiled Grounds!
In the sandstorm, two mysterious dark silhouettes hid in the distance and watched Xia Fei.
