Chapter 498: Flying to Earth
In the cultivation room, Xia Fei was wantonly manipulating that White Heart of Spirit in his hands. In just the span of several hours, he had already managed to master the method of controlling this third-grade Cosmic Origin Energy completely.
“Could you be innately capable of controlling the Cosmic Origin Energy?” Phantom was in shock for a long time before he exclaimed, “This is simply too inconceivable!”
Xia Fei shrugged. “I don’t understand it, either, but I knew how to do it after understanding the method of controlling it. Right now, its potent energy is flowing through my body easily, without any obstruction whatsoever.”
Phantom gulped. Though Xia Fei had stagnated at the Legendary rank for a very long time, that did not mean that he lacked potential. The control of the Cosmic Origin Energy required extremely precise energy control and plenty of mental concentration. Xia Fei seemed to have come along and mastered the technique in a matter of hours, seemingly having a natural affinity toward energy.
“Alright. The next step of this will be to direct the Cosmic Origin Energy into the Blood Demon Claw. First, we have to create a brand new organism incubator, then let the Cosmic Origin Energy enter this incubator through your body. There’s actually an additional benefit to this,” Phantom said, evidently pleased with himself. He felt proud now that he was able to use what techniques he had learned from the Sentinel Goddess.
“As the energy will use your body as a medium to enter the incubator, it will inevitably get contaminated with your presence. By the time the Blood Demon Claw matures, it will be even closer to you, which in turn reduces the side effects greatly.”
Xia Fei nodded. Cultivating a plant was similar to raising a baby, and the more interactions made before maturity meant it would be even closer to him. This was something anyone understood.
“I’ll go build a brand-new incubator tomorrow, though I want to leave it onboard the ship while it grows.”
“What for? Are you leaving for long?” Phantom asked.
“There’s still three months till the date I’ve agreed upon with Yujiang and Yuhua. I wish to make a trip back to Earth. Who knows how long I’ll be gone on this trip to the Law Realm, so...”
Phantom replied meaningfully, “Indeed. Terminus is already on the right track, and there shouldn’t be too many problems with the grizzled veteran Old Porter at the helm. Going back home sounds good, too.”
...
Three days later, Xia Fei piloted Nirvana and accompanied Quantum Holdings’ Ranger Fleet and Sarah’s trade transportation fleet on a voyage. Their destination: Earth!
On the screen was the new Panhuman Alliance president, Tai, and at his two sides were Layton and Williams. The military triumvirate was now the Alliance triumvirate. Tai was the president, while Williams was in charge of the Ministry of Finance and Interior Affairs, while Layton remained in the military.
“Xia Fei, you’re finally willing to leave Terminus. In these two years, you’ve buried your head in the Death Tri-region, not once appearing in the Alliance. You’ll pass by Venal Galaxy on your trip to Earth this time. Be sure to come and visit.” Williams chuckled as he sucked on a maple syrup candy.
Layton burst into laughter. “That’s right! Don’t think that your Terminus is the only one that has been experiencing rapid development. Now that the reconstruction of Venal’s complete, the sights and views are breathtaking.”
Xia Fei laughed as he answered, “I definitely believe that. With the efforts of the entire Alliance focused on rebuilding the capital, of course the reconstruction will progress smoothly and swiftly.”
The triumvirate was left momentarily speechless. Xia Fei was right. The rebuilding of Venal Galaxy had depended on the entire Alliance, while developing the Terminus Star Region was all on Xia Fei. There was simply no comparison between the two.
After a brief pause, Xia Fei said, “Gentlemen, I appreciate all your kind intentions, but I’ll soon be embarking on a long voyage. As such, I don’t really have that much time on my hands to visit.”
No matter what the triumvirate said, Xia Fei rejected it all. This trip from Terminus to Earth would take about two months, and whatever free time he had, he wanted to spend it on Earth, his one old home.
....
In his training room, the new incubator appeared to be very heavy, made from a transparent white crystal, which could ensure that the plant within would receive sufficient sunlight and prevent any energy from leaking out.
Xia Fei took out the White Heart of Spirit from his spatial ring, holding it with both hands to allow its energy to circulate in his body.
He slowly let go of his left hand, releasing a huge amount of Cosmic Origin Energy from his palm, and a thick white mist seemingly diffused!
The incubator was instantly engulfed in white, which glowed brightly.
“That’s enough. Stop!” Phantom nervously yelped.
Xia Fei hurriedly retracted his left arm, reforming the connection with the White Heart of Spirit once more. The Blood Demon Claw could not withstand too much energy input, so releasing too much energy at once might very well cause it to die, which was why he had to control this input strictly.
Squatting, Xia Fei and Phantom examined this plant, which could potentially give Xia Fei a new leash on life. They saw a lot of the slowly swirling white mist surrounding the Blood Demon Claw before getting absorbed into it.
“Yes, the progress is quick. The Blood Demon Claw has turned deep red in color again. This will make it the third time, so if it matures now, it will have three times the original medicinal efficacy,” Phantom said.
Xia Fei nodded. “I only hope that it will finish growing soon; there’s not much time left, and I don’t wish to enter the Law Realm with just a Legendary rank cultivation.”
A lack of strength only meant that he would not be recognized no matter where he went. In fact, he might end up being bullied. This was an unchanging principle and his lack of promotion in these last two years only increased his desire to become stronger.
“There’s no rush. Once your seventh brain region is repaired, you’ll have an amazing future ahead of you. From what I understand, the probability of having a completely open seventh brain region is one in every ten thousand, so your potential can only be described as limitless. Right now, all we can do is wait patiently.
...
He gave the Blood Demon Claw a supplement of energy every twelve hours. Xia Fei closed the door to his training and cultivation room and left to find Avril and Pod waiting for him outside. Pod was holding a tray, with tea and snacks laid upon it.
“It must’ve been tough.” Avril smiled. “Come over to the lounge to rest.”
Xia Fei nodded. He had very happily lived this couple’s life, and he was extremely grateful to the meticulous care Avril and Pod had both provided him.
“Will you be leaving soon?” Avril suddenly asked when they arrived at the lounge.
Xia Fei furrowed his brows. He had yet to tell Avril about his departure for the Law Realm, so he had no idea how she found out, or what she thought of it.
Love was both happiness and also a form of responsibility. Xia Fei was of course not an irresponsible person, not the sort to just leave someone behind, but his loftier goals and the mysterious Law Realm had drawn him every minute and second of his waking moment, and he was having a hard time resisting its call.
“Earlier, I accidentally overheard your conversation with Tai and the others. Sorry,” Avril said as if nothing had happened.
Xia Fei replied somberly, “That’s indeed the case. I’ll be leaving for somewhere really far away, and it may be a very long time before I return.”
Avril spoke first, appearing to be very excited. “That’s the Xia Fei I like. Wherever you go, I’ll support you no matter! Men ought to chase their dreams, and you’ve already been quiet for two years. I was even worried that you’d stagnate as a result, but I see that all is well. You are finally setting out on a journey again and will be visiting strange and fascinating places. I don’t care. Just be sure to come back and tell me plenty of interesting stories then.”
Xia Fei’s eyes turned mellow. He knew, deep down, that Avril was reluctant to see him go, but she intentionally put up such a front in order not to become a burden to him.
Her understanding was a very fortunate thing, and Xia Fei could perhaps easily find himself the most beautiful lady in this universe, but it would be hard for him to find someone who could understand him as well as Avril did—a woman who was willing to sacrifice herself.
With a pause, Xia Fei affectionately professed, “I’m fortunate to have you.”
Avril blushed slightly as she hugged Xia Fei, saying in a soft voice, “I’m fortunate to have you, too.”
...
Xia Fei did not go to Venal Galaxy to meet the triumvirate, but he could not miss out on visiting Avril’s father and grandfather. The beautiful Sunset Villa had already been razed to the ground by the insectoids. The Jian family rebuilt the Half Moon Mountain and Half Moon Lake, and both hardly looked any different from before, though Xia Fei felt that there was an additional scent of smoke in the air and was not as spirited as before.
The spirits in the mountain and waters were not something that could be regenerated. Even though everything had been restored to its former glory, the atmosphere itself would forever remain scarred.
After the Jian family received Xia Fei’s gift of the Black Bat Radar relays, the Alliance no longer had another business that could compete with Starlink Corporation and their handheld ultra-long distance communicators, which were supported by the super large bandwidth second generation interplanetary internet. This was now standard equipment in the Alliance, so even the military had to rely on Starlink Corporation greatly.
Now that the Jian family’s Starlink Corporation and Xia Fei’s Quantum Holdings were among the top ten businesses in the Alliance, everyone knew that there was but a single heiress to the Jian family, and it was a matter of time before she married Xia Fei. That was why Quantum Holdings and Starlink Corporation were linked to each other in a sense, and the only person who would hold both had the family name of Xia.
If these two giants joined hands, they would very likely become the well-deserved number one organization in the Alliance!
After spending a day on Venal Galaxy, Xia Fei once more took off with Avril and headed for Earth.
In the training room, that Blood Demon Claw once more regressed to a light green from its deep red hue, and Xia Fei’s hope of repairing his seventh brain region came up empty once more.
“How could it be?! According to records, the Blood Demon Claw will at most mutate five times, and that’s clearly the fifth time. How is it still not yet blooming?!” Phantom somewhat hysterically called in frustration.
Xia Fei sighed and consoled himself. “On the bright side, this is the sixth time that the Blood Demon Claw has regressed, so if it matures and blooms now, it will have six times the medicinal efficacy. That’s a great thing, too.”
Phantom shook his head and half-jokingly said, “Every metamorphosis it undergoes will take a month’s time, and we’ll be arriving on Earth tomorrow. We’re only a month away from the date when you will have to depart for the Law Realm. I hope that it’s able to bloom before you leave, or else you’ll have to bring your half-crippled seventh brain region to meet with those Law Warriors.”
Xia Fei did not make any comment. He took off his top and revealed a body of muscles that came from strenuous training. That tattoo on his left arm was still there, and though Xia Fei had tried his best, he was still unable to decipher the mysteries of the Law of Primal Chaos within.
His right arm was entwined with the lone Bluegrass with a single blade. Ever since Peacock Blue grew a blade of grass by chance and entered into deep sleep, it had not awakened.
The Law of Primal Chaos and Peacock Blue. One was an amazing law which reversed black and white and made everything chaotic, while the other was one of the Thirty Immemorial Mystical Armaments—a natural type apex grade weapon which had existed from the time the universe was born. He held these two great treasures in his hands, yet he was unable to use, either, and Xia Fei could not help but feel quite vexed.
“Forget it. Perhaps everything will figure itself out when I reach the Law Realm.” Xia Fei consoled himself once more.
At this point, there were still twenty-nine days and fourteen hours left until Xia Fei’s arranged meeting with Yujiang and Yuhua.
