Chapter 1434: Xia Fan versus Sramana!

“What a creepy place,” Traveling Buddha grumbled. He pushed at one of the metal supporting pillars in the tunnel. “The pillars are rusted. This place isn’t going to suddenly collapse and bury us with it, is it?”

The mine was an illegal mine left behind by pirates many years ago. The pirates weren’t going to properly set up a mine. They would simply capture some slaves and then force them to work for nothing in an awful environment, selling the ore that was mined on the black market for funds to boost their equipment and power.

In the Outer Frontier, many large pirate groups had essentially stopped being bandits. They had fleets and even shipyards, becoming military-like interest groups, powerful and brutal.

Xia Fan jokingly said, “Don’t you guys basically consider yourselves manifestations of Buddhas? Why are you afraid of a sudden collapse?”

Traveling Buddha shook his head. “I’m worried about the extra trouble. How troublesome would it be if we were buried inside and other people had to come dig us out?

!!

“Hurry up and use your Scent special ability. If someone is hiding here, they will definitely leave a scent.”

Xia Fan’s Scent special ability couldn’t be kept activated at all times, as the moment it was activated, Xia Fan would receive far too much irrelevant information. He could find out what Traveling Buddha had eaten last night, what brand of cologne he used, and whether or not he had found a girlfriend. Xia Fan wasn’t some Peeping Tom, so he had no desire to know all that nonsense.

Xia Fan sniffed twice, drawing all of the air particles in the mine into his lungs, together with large amounts of olfactory information.

Traveling Buddha stared at Xia Fan, and saw Xia Fan’s smile suddenly freeze, shock appearing in his eyes.

“What’s up?”Traveling Buddha curiously asked.

“The thick odor of corpses. Yes, this is the place!” Xia Fan said grimly.

Traveling Buddha and Xia Fan had been partners for some time, so he knew what it meant when Xia Fan became that serious.

Xia Fan pressed the emergency signal and then charged into the darkness. Traveling Buddha followed. Although he didn’t have the Speed special ability, he was at a much higher rank than Xia Fan’s, so he wasn’t completely left behind.

Whoosh!

Scent was the most effective compass. Moving through the old mine’s dark tunnels, Xia Fan and Traveling Buddha arrived at the very depths of the mine.

In front of them was a giant pit, left behind by the miners. The slaves the pirates had used mined away here day and night, and then they used the mine carts in the tunnels to transport the ore to the surface.

The mine pit was more than ten kilometers in diameter, like a black abyss.

The installed lights had mostly gone out from lack of maintenance many years ago, and only a third of them were still lit, radiating a dim light.

The smell of corpses was the strongest here. Xia Fan activated his combat uniform’s vision system, and an optical lens immediately covered his left eye. Xia Fan could then examine the darkness using infrared, heat, electromagnetic waves, and many other methods.

Through the night vision system, Xia Fan could see that there were several hundred bodies at the bottom of the pit. All of the bodies were headless, and through the infrared system, he could see many yellow-colored maggots crawling over them.

Through the body-shape analysis, he concluded that there were men, women, elders, and even children among the victims.

Most of the victims had decayed until only bones were left, but some of these corpses had been abandoned recently. Based on the condition of the last corpse, it had died only forty-eight hours ago.

All the evidence indicated that some devil that cut off the heads of other people lived in this mining pit left by pirates! That devil hadn’t left, they were still here!

In a corner of the pit, two small corpses were piled on top of each other.

These skeletons were thin from a lack of nutrition, and their similar structures indicated that they were twins, not more than seven years old...

This accursed devil was so cruel that he had blasted straight through Xia Fan’s bottom line. Xia Fan’s hands began to shake, blood filling his eyes!

Xia Fan, who had always wanted to reeducate criminals, now felt an immense urge, the blood rushing to his head, an unprecedented killing intent welling up in his heart!

He wanted to kill someone, kill this cruel devil!

“Aaaaagggh!!!” Xia Fan couldn’t help but cry out, his hoarse voice penetrating through this accursed darkness!

Next to him, Traveling Buddha started to breathe harder. In this darkness, his nonchalant face began to distort.

Did he really not care about anything?

No. At least right now, his face was growing more and more distorted, not at all like his uncaring appearance of the past. Just like Xia Fan, he was bursting with the desire to kill someone.

“This deserves death!” Traveling Buddha spat on the ground, his face ashen. As a scion of a great clan, Traveling Buddha had never seen such a brutal scene before. His body began to tremble in rage.

“F***! No matter who it is, I’m going to kill him!” Traveling Buddha cursed, his muscles bulging. He roared like a berserk bear, and then he charged into the darkness.

But at this point, there was a new and sudden development!

A popping like exploding beans emerged from the darkness, as if a million fireworks had been set off all at once. There were so many sounds that it was impossible to find out where they came from.

“Be careful!” Xia Fan shouted.

Alas, he was too late. Countless pieces of metal shrapnel emerged from the darkness. They had been left behind from the pirate’s mining operation. They were too small to be of value, so they had been left in a corner of the pit.

Now, these small and oddly-shaped metal pieces became weapons to be used against the enemy. By means of long-range telekinesis, they shot at Xia Fan and Traveling Buddha like flying knives!

At that moment, Traveling Buddha was on the side of the pit, only a few meters from the abyss. As the flying knives approached, Traveling Buddha found that there was nowhere he could retreat to. There was a cry from the darkness, and then Xia Fan saw Traveling Buddha cover his face as he was given a powerful push and sent into the pit.

Plush!

Plush!

Several pieces of shrapnel might have even pierced through Traveling Buddha’s armor!

Full speed!

At that last moment, Xia Fan moved as quickly as he could, moving in a curved line to avoid his enemy’s attack.

Xia Fan was in disbelief. The enemy’s attack was able to penetrate Traveling Buddha’s armor? How could that be?

Although Traveling Buddha, like Xia Fan, didn’t like hard armor and normally wore close-fitting combat clothes, Xia Fan knew that the nameless battlesuit Traveling Buddha wore was comparable in quality to his own Phantom Mark 7 battlesuit.

The Illusion series of combat suits specialized in agility and speed. As Traveling Buddha’s role was that of a frontal attacker, his combat suit should have been even tougher!.

Pa!

After dodging those long-ranged attacks, Xia Fan pressed a hand on the ground and began to build up power. Perhaps because of his Bloodline inheritance, Xia Fan’s posture was rather similar to that of the father he had never met.

“Are you okay!?” Xia Fan called out, but Traveling Buddha’s reply did not rise from the abyss.

Xia Fan watched his surroundings warily. He knew that his enemy was hiding in the darkness, but he didn’t know exactly where. He could only smell a nauseating odor in the darkness. It seemed like his foe did not have a habit of taking baths.

Xia Fan was worried about Traveling Buddha, but the lights were all gathered around the perimeter of the pit. If he descended to try and save Traveling Buddha, he would fall into the enemy’s trap.

His best method was to use his speed to take his enemy’s life with one blow, but this way, the enemy’s large-area attacks would be able to threaten Xia Fan.

The enemy definitely knew this. Xia Fan was of the speed-type, so the next time his enemy attacked, it would definitely cover a large area.

If those sharp weapons rushed at him like a deluge, then Xia Fan wouldn’t be able to dodge it, no matter how incredible his movement techniques were.

In the darkness, Xia Fan grit his teeth.

This enemy had to die!

Even if he had to suffer injuries for it, he had to kill this foe!

His mind made up, Xia Fan tensed his leg muscles, his eyes staring into the darkness.

At that moment, a golden light erupted from the bottom of the pit!

The intense golden light was like a miniature sun, lighting up the darkness, illuminating all!

Battle Buddha’s Golden Light!

That was Traveling Buddha’s special ability!

That guy wasn’t dead! He had just gotten serious!

Bang!

That golden light rose up and then landed outside of the pit. Traveling Buddha’s feet shattered the rocky ground beneath him, his majestic appearance like a Buddha descended to the earth!

Clack~

Traveling Buddha extended a hand and pulled a sharp piece of metal out of his shoulder. He threw it to the ground, allowing blood to flow freely from the wound. But Traveling Buddha did not care. He had a savage expression as he walked toward the enemy hidden in the darkness. As he walked, he continued to pull pieces of metal out of his body.

“Screw you! I’ll have your head!” Traveling Buddha yelled, his voice so loud that the mine tunnels trembled, rocks falling from the ceiling.

Traveling Buddha continued to walk closer and closer.

Boom!

The enemy once more used their long-range telekinesis to control those pieces of shrapnel, this time in an even greater number and density than before.

But Traveling Buddha didn’t even try to dodge. The tough pieces of metal struck his body like they were hitting a wall, not harming even a hair on Traveling Buddha’s head!

Battle Buddha’s Golden Light was utterly tyrannical. Unless one was using a high-power laser, Traveling Buddha was simply invincible!

This was the moment!

Now that Traveling Buddha had drawn all his enemy’s attention and the golden light had illuminated the darkness, Xia Fan had finally confirmed the enemy’s position. What he saw in the darkness was a pair of lightless black eyes, more like those of a beast than a human.

He exploded into motion!

Xia Fan was traveling at full speed from the first second, 350 meters per second!

Xia Fan could travel 21 kilometers in one minute!

One second, two seconds, three seconds...

Xia Fan approached his foe like a bolt of lightning, his eyes erupting with a cold light as he raised his fist.

This was what made Xia Fan and Traveling Buddha such incredible partners. Normally, Traveling Buddha was the shield, responsible for drawing the aggro of the enemies, but the real attacker was Xia Fan, who was hiding behind Traveling Buddha.

One was the shield and the other was the spear. This powerful combination wasn’t something the evil creature that was Sramana, lurking in the darkness like some insect, could fight against.

Xia Fan finally saw his enemy’s face. It was a stiff, emotionless, and cold face. It knew neither how to smile nor how to feel pain.

“Screw you!” The thought of Sramana’s disgusting actions made Xia Fan curse as he swung his fist at that emotionless face!

Bang!

Sramana showed no fear, only slightly widening his eyes as Xia Fan descended from the heavens.
