Chapter 69: Chapter 69 Base Mutation Box

“Shen, is there anything I, your brother, can do for you? On the turf of Yashen Base, anyone who crosses you is crossing my Xu Family,” Xu Tiange stood by Lin Shen’s side, facing the people of the Lu Family.

The Mutators brought by Xu Tiange also swarmed behind the two men, confronting the Mutators of the Lu Family.

Seeing that all Xu Tiange’s people except him had left, Lu Qing finally believed that Xu Tiange wasn’t just putting on an act. It seemed his relationship with Lin Shen was truly out of the ordinary.

Once Lu Qing and the rest had gone far, Xu Tiange said to Lin Shen in a low voice, “Shen, someone found a Base Mutation Box near Jinshui Lake, we’re rushing over there. Didn’t expect to run into you. Want to join us?”

Before, Lin Shen only knew that Mutation Points were source sites of spread, infection, and Base Mutation. Some Mutation Points were discovered nearby Base Mutation Boxes, though most were damaged.

Piecing together the intelligence he gathered from Tian Xin and Wei Wufu, Lin Shen now knew that the Base Mutation Box was essentially a cosmic transport container.

Because space travel requires a lot of time, life forms need to hibernate within the transport container during their journey, to endure the long voyage.

Of course, some transport containers are used for storing goods, like the Base Mutation Eggs that required these containers for transport.

The Base Mutation Boxes that crashed all over the world over two hundred years ago were these transport containers, carrying Base Mutation Eggs, origins unknown, as well as the reason why they crashed onto this planet.

One thing was certain: the spacecraft carrying these containers had not crashed on this planet. Something likely went wrong in outer space, scattering the containers all around.

Most of the containers were damaged in space. After crashing to various parts of the world, the Base Mutation Eggs fell out, becoming sources of infection – the well-known Mutation Points and Base Mutation Zones.

Those referred to as Primeval Eggs are, in fact, alien Base Mutation Eggs.

What puzzled Lin Shen was that since that incident two hundred years ago, no other transport containers had fallen. If there were any near Yashen Base, they should have been discovered earlier, so why was it found only now?

There could only be two possibilities. One was that this transport container was from the batch that fell two hundred years ago.

Its contents were sealed because it wasn’t damaged, so the Base Mutation Eggs inside didn’t turn into a source of infection. Plus, due to the crash site being hidden, it remained undiscovered by anyone.

There was another possibility, that this transport cargo had fallen recently and wasn’t from the same batch as those over two hundred years ago.

“The Mushroom Beasts in the Blue Tree Sea are rampant; could it be related to that transport cargo?” Lin Shen wondered but then felt something was off, as the Blue Tree Sea and Jinshui Lake were in two opposite directions. If the rampant Mushroom Beasts in the Blue Tree Sea were related to the transport cargo, then the cargo should be located in the Blue Tree Sea as well.

“Intact? Damaged?” Wei Wufu obviously thought of this too and asked Xu Tiange.

“The Base Mutation box is intact.” Xu Tiange actually understood what Wei Wufu meant, but he didn’t know the Base Mutation box was actually the transport cargo.

“Lead the way,” Wei Wufu said directly.

Lin Shen slightly frowned, but seeing the expression on Wei Wufu’s face, it seemed he was set on going.

After pondering for a moment, Lin Shen also nodded to Xu Tiange.

“With Shen and Elder Brother Wei involved, those bastards from the Lu Family don’t stand a chance. The Base Mutation box will definitely be ours. If there are Primeval Eggs inside, how about I purchase them at a high price?” Xu Tiange said.

“Alright,” Wei Wufu didn’t seem to care whether the Base Mutation box contained Primeval Eggs or not.

Xu Tiange was overjoyed, hesitated no longer, mounted his steed, and led the way at the front.

Lin Shen and Wei Wufu also summoned their mounts to follow, but it was a pity that they were still riding Iron-horned Horses and couldn’t keep up with Xu Tiange. Thinking it over, Xu Tiange said, “Shen, Elder Brother Wei, I’ll go ahead first to prevent my brothers from suffering at the hands of the Lu Family. You can head straight to Jinshui Lake from here. You’ll see us when you get there.”

“Go ahead,” Lin Shen said, as he actually had something to ask Wei Wufu that he couldn’t when Xu Tiange was around. This arrangement suited him well.

Xu Tiange repeatedly urged Lin Shen and Wei Wufu to come quickly, then galloped away on his fast horse.

“Elder Wei, why go?” Lin Shen looked at Wei Wufu and asked.

He knew their current situation, and Wei Wufu was well aware that the Black-Capped Mushroom Beasts must be watching them in the shadows; it really wasn’t the time to get involved in other matters.

With a determined look in his eyes, Wei Wufu said, “Base Mutation box, unknown, need to ascertain, risk, nip in the bud.”

Lin Shen understood what Wei Wufu meant and said with a wry smile, “Haven’t you thought about the danger to yourself?”

“For me, it is a duty that cannot be shirked.” Wei Wufu paused, then added, “You, go back, I’ll go.”

“I might as well go with you,” Lin Shen could tell from Wei Wufu’s expression that persuading him would be futile.

Thinking that Jinshui Lake wasn’t far from the base, and so far from the Blue Tree Sea, if there was danger, he was confident that he could escape back to the base. It was a good idea to accompany Wei Wufu to see the Base Mutation box, as he had never seen one before.

If there were Super-Base Primeval Eggs inside, there was hope for advancing to Alloy.

When the two arrived at Jinshui Lake, they could see from afar the people from the Lu Family and the Xu Family. Surprisingly, there was no friction, as both groups stood by the lake, staring at the surface of Jinshui Lake.

Seeing Lin Shen and Wei Wufu coming over, Xu Tiange quickly called them over.

The Mutators from the Lu Family were somewhat puzzled to see Lin Shen and Wei Wufu riding the Iron-horned Horses. Everyone there knew about Lin Shen’s background, and to both the Lu and Xu families, the Lin Family of Dark Bird Base didn’t amount to much. What puzzled them was why Xu Tiange was so polite to these two.

Lin Shen stood by the lake and saw a strange oval device floating on the clear surface. It resembled a metallic football, about a meter high, and less than half a meter in diameter. It was surrounded by rings of crystals that glowed and intertwined, constantly rotating, giving off a mysterious and high-tech aura.
