621 The judge, jury, and executioner
A tear slid down Mimi’s cheeks when her father showed no expression of concern for his daughter’s feelings. Vlad didn’t show any signs of attempting to hear his daughter’s words and felt conflicted about his current actions.
Vlad didn’t waver in his decision to kill Vincent. He raised his hand at ordinary speed as if he intended to smack his daughter, yet Mimi didn’t move out of the way.
Even if Mimi trembled in front of her scary father, knowing quite well how the people ended when her father slapped someone, her trembling lips courageously moved.
Mimi had to try anything to stop her father and continued living the life she was having a fun living, as no day was like the other with the bonus of good-tasting blood.
“If father can calm down and stop directing anger at someone who doesn’t deserve it, father can see that every person living in this mansion likes living here without being forced to think this way.”
*Sigh* “So the blood has corrupted you up to this level.” Vlad said before slapping his daughter and knocking her a couple of meters away.
“That is all the mercy I can give, you traitorous daughter. The slap with a tenth of my power should keep you down for a while.” Vlad said while lowering his hand and continuing with a slightly saddened tone, “I will find a way to return your original blood and help you become sane again.”
After Vlad showed he didn’t completely hate his daughter and tried to help her in his own way, his eyes moved to Vincent, stopping right in front of him.
“Why didn’t you protect my daughter if she said she loved you? Why aren’t you showing signs of anger?” Vlad questioned.
.....
“How can a father kill his daughter over nothing? On the other hand, how can a father call her man a monster while the father is the one acting like a monster?” Vincent returned the question with another question.
Vlad looked at Vincent, and the scent of his blood was infuriating him. Hearing Vincent trying to win him over with words infuriated him even further.
“Die. ” Vlad said while clenching his fists.
*Step, step, step* “And then what?” Lucas said while approaching them.
“Are you going to make it annoying for me, child?” Vlad questioned angrily.
“I had my suspicions Vincent was the seventh person to arrive and cause a change to our world. Now you are confirming my suspicions.” Lucas revealed.
[What!?]
“Huh!?” Vincent became confused at this moment. One wanted to kill him, while the other knew his identity and tried calming the situation down.
Ester, Lupa, and Sakura moved their weak, trembling legs and stopped behind Vincent. They didn’t care who was going to be their enemy. They were ready to do everything they could to keep living their current life.
“Your highness, did you know Vincent is the cursed monster to bring ruin to our world? I thought he was a special person with a criminal background and not the worst monster in the world.” Bilka told Anna.
“At least there is one sane person here. ” Vlad said.
Lucas stepped forward and placed his hand on Vlad’s shoulder. “You are the only one who isn’t sane at the moment.”
“Vincent isn’t crazy, and I know that because I have monitored all his actions. Nothing he did was unreasonable nor showed signs of being a psychopath that will bring ruin to our world.” Lucas said, vouching for Vincent’s innocence.
Lucas forced himself to smile and continued, “Since the only cultivator who could match your strength is Feng Mengli, it is a shame you weren’t sane and chose to fight him.”
*Slap* Vlad slapped Lucas’s hand off his shoulder and asked, “Why are you speaking in a riddle, child? Are you perhaps stalling to be helped by the children playing soldiers gathering around the property?”
“The royal soldiers are gathering to block anyone from entering in case Vincent ever lost his reason. They are also to help evacuate...”
“We can stop Vincent no matter what happens. ” Ester interrupted Lucas.
“Yeah. My mate doesn’t hurt us.” Lupa added.
“I will hold Vincent until he returns to his normal self if he ever loses control. ” Sakura stated.
“You heard them, right?” Lucas asked.
“Yes. Loud and clear. This monster has lost control many times, and only his servants can stop him. If they aren’t around, the monster will bring destruction and despair. That is the reason I will kill him.” Vlad glared at Lucas and warned, “Step away, or you will not go home in one piece.”
“Hahaha. If I didn’t read the diary, Feng Mengli found about the past of the man who brought your kind to this world. I would be helping you remove the threat Vincent could pose to the Lusterfall Kingdom.”
Lucas placed his hand on Vincent’s shoulder and continued, “If Vincent doesn’t have a reason to destroy the world, then he is not a person to eliminate.”
“Okay. I understand.” Vlad said while nodding his head.
The sound of multiple footsteps rushing on the snow could be heard from behind them.
Vincent moved his head and saw Iris, Lilith, Plow, Sofy, Jun Ye Rim, Maria, Maid Xu, Russo, Ganni, Rafa, Holger, Mera, Yula, Tula, Lenn, Renn, Eliara, Fliara, and Zefine running towards them.
From the side of this view, Vincent saw Marika and Grace taking care of grandma Luisa, little Leah, Clara, Beth, Lian, Olive, Alice, and Shana.
Everyone in the mansion, apart from Elias’s mother, Bessy Wittwoll, was present as she was working on her client’s property.
No one ran away after hearing about the dangerous situation. Instead, they all showed up to help Vincent against the intruder, no matter if they could physically help or not.
[Even though they can’t do anything to help, everyone is present. I feel reassured the bond of trust didn’t break in the face of a very troubling situation.]
-Now that I can clearly see we weren’t betrayed, I don’t feel this is a game over.-
Vincent smiled. He looked at Vlad and said, “I came from a peaceful world, and I want to live a peaceful life. Can”t I live that life?”
Vlad nodded once again. He gave the impression of having accepted Vincent’s plea that he wasn’t a dangerous person.
“Peaceful it is. ” Vlad said before his arm became a blur. When his arm became visible again, a rapier was piercing Vincent’s heart.
*Cough* Vincent coughed blood. Everyone was shocked to see a thin blade extending from his back, and the clothes became stained in blood.
“A peaceful death is the mercy I will give a manipulative monster like you. ” Vlad said while pulling out his rapier from Vincent’s body.
[Vincent!]
“Vincent!” Most of those who weren’t too shocked about what their eyes witnessed shouted.
Vincent took a step back. He felt a hand on his shoulder, stopping him from falling. Soon, three pairs of hands held his back to prevent him from falling.
“Why did you...”
Vincent could barely hear Lucas shouting at this moment. His ear was losing their ability to hear, and his eyes were starting to become blurry.
[Vincnet! Stay with us! Think about surviving...]
After Vincent couldn’t hear Kazumi speak anymore, he could understand the soul connection had been too distorted to communicate.
‘So my time has arrived again... will the thing inside of me let me live, or will it not work like when I almost died from acid hell? But at least Mimi’s father didn’t lie. I only felt the pain similar to taking an injection.’ Vincent pondered while lowering his gaze and watching the snow underneath him become red.
Vincent’s legs lost their strength. He was placed in the snow, and he could vaguely see the sky, yet he could not feel the raining tears of sorrow. Falling on his body.
Vincent saw the vague resemblance of a goddess lighting his view. A moment later, a smile appeared on his face before taking his last breath.
Vincent died a painless death with a smile on his face. Vincent was frustrated he couldn’t live with his women for a longer time, yet knowing he was the only target made him feel relieved enough not to die with an angry expression.
Lucas stopped using Minor Heal, while Lilith stopped using Minor Regen, boosted by Divine Blessing, after Vincent’s stomach stopped moving. It meant the last breath left from Vincent’s mouth, and he passed away.
Lucas gazed at Vincent with regret. Lucas assessed Vlad had used his mastery of Energy flow to sever Vincent’s heart’s veins multiple times in the blink of an eye. In the end, medium heal couldn’t help.
Lilith raised her hands and saw they were covered with Vincent’s blood. Tears could stop falling, and Lilith felt deep guilt. Vincent saved her, yet she couldn’t.
‘I failed Vincent.’ was all Lilith could think about.
The atmosphere was filled with sadness, and the tears couldn’t stop falling. It showed how greatly they thought about Vincent and how his death devastated them.
Mimi got up after being knocked away. She heard crying and people saying “no” repeatedly.
Mimi moved her gaze to her father. A meter away from him were Lucas and Lilith on their knees. Ester, Lupa, Iris, Sakura, Plow, Jun Ye Rim, Sofy, Maria, Russo, and Ganni circled them.
Mimi’s nose twitched, and a frown appeared on her face. “This scent... it can’t be...” She mumbled while slowly standing up and falling after losing her balance.
“Vincent can’t die. ” Mimi mumbled before grabbing her head and realigning her head as if the injury wasn’t fatal to vampires.
