612 Questing Lion Company
“You may now return to your seats. ” Vincent said while extending his hand toward the table.
“I do not mind letting those who I sponsor hear what the three adventurer gentlemen want to discuss. ” Vincent continued while making it seem as if the two vice-captains were already being valued and trusted.
[Your people skills have improved more than I thought, hehe.]
[You are making the two men feel accepted while making yourself look like a respectable noble who isn’t arrogant or high on his authority.]
-Are you saying my acting has improved? Hearing this from you makes it feel better.-
[Hehe.] Kazumi proudly giggled while thinking of herself as the one whose words are similar to a seal of approval.
Vincent returned to his seat, and the two vice-captains respectfully sat after Vincent to show their respect.
Vincent looked at the three adventurers and said, “Can I know what I can do for F Rank adventurers such as yourselves?.”
The three adventures looked eager to speak, yet they were greatly nervous at the same time.
.....
After witnessing the two vice-captains being treated well and receiving wealth in the form of health instead of monetary wealth, the three men couldn’t think of how to start the conversation with Vincent while not appearing disrespectful.
“I heard there were more of you. Are the women fine?” Vincent asked.
*Gulp* “Y-yes.” One of the adventurers nervously responded.
“Are the three of you representing them as well? Or am I assuming incorrectly?” Vincent asked. He wanted to have an idea about what the adventurers wanted and how many they were going to be.
*Gulp* “W-we are representing the two female adventurers and other friends.” Another adventurer nervously responded.
*Sigh* “Why are the three of you nervous? It is not like my man will spank you or I will taste your unappealing blood.” Mimi abruptly said, changing the mood while all eyes locked on her.
“What?” Mimi shrugged her shoulders while not understanding how no one was smiling at her joke.
*Sigh* “Does no one has a sense of humor? An icebreaker can’t break the ice if no one has a sense of humor.” Mimi looked at Vincent and continued with a frown, “And here I thought you could understand my joke.”
[Mimi is quite unique indeed.]
“Yeah, Mimi is...” Vincent stopped after noticing he was talking out loud.
Vincent looked at Mimi. He tried to hide his thoughts by smiling and saying, “You are one of a kind. That means your jokes are difficult to understand sometimes...”
Mimi smiled and playfully slapped Vincent’s shoulder. “One of a kind, hehe. Hearing how no one can replace me makes me happy.”
The three adventurers felt less anxious after watching Mimi act carefree. She flirted with Vincent while he acted as if he was also taken by surprise.
Like Lupa sometimes changes the environment’s mood with her impulsive and honest behavior, Mimi changes the mood with her carefree flirting. It felt as if there was no tense subject with her around.
“Yes, your lordship. We are representing the two mentioned people, and other adventurers who we know would be interested.” One of the adventurers said with a slightly nervous.
[So they are possibly representing a lot of adventurers. That means we might need to go with the save lizardmen and offer training and jobs.]
-Good thing I heard your plan. I might be pondering what to do if it wasn’t for your plan.-
[Hehe. As the most intelligent person around you, I need to pull her weight.] Kazumi pridefully boasted.
“Now that I know there are other adventurers who would be interested in receiving the quest protection of the Lionheart branch family, how about I hear what kind of deal you three are looking for?” Vincent questioned.
“We would like an object to protect ourselves with if possible. We F Ranked adventurers are weak, and we are sometimes afraid to leave the gate. The feeling of being followed would sometimes scare us.” The first adventurer to speak said.
“We would sometimes form parties to complete a quest together. That means the reward would be shared, and we would not be able to pay a large protection fee. Please be reasonable, your lordship.” The second adventurer said.
“Your lordship. Not everyone can join to become a soldier because there would always be a limit to the people they accept. Being an F Ranker for half a decade or more at ages older than twenty years would make us the first to fail the soldier exam.” The third adventurer said.
[Their words make sense. The first is asking for a flawless token only Sakura can make. The second is asking to receive benefits while not paying too much.]
[The third is explaining how they choose not to participate in the soldier requiting exam because they can pass only if open spots are left. Additionally, they will be at the bottom of the barrel and probably will be harassed by arrogant soldiers with a class.]
Vincent nodded. “I understand.”
*Gulp* The three adventurers became anxious to hear Vincent’s response. They hoped Vincent’s next words would be in their favor.
“I will create a protection business named Questing Lion when I am not busy.”
“The adventurers interested will accept a quest and bring us the document of their quest. We will register your activity and provide a carved wooden tablet.”
“However, do not think it is excessive. We would be able to know the direction of the adventurers who are in the Questing Lion Company.”
“For example, if a registered person takes far and needs to return from an easy quest, we would report to the authorities. I could create a team specifically to look for missing people registered with us, but that is a talk for another time.”
“The tablet will allow the soldiers sponsored by the Lionheart family to offer their assistance when an adventurer is in doubt of being followed.”
“As for the cut, I will only ask for a five percent cut per quest. Additionally, anyone interested will sign a magic contract to revoke any magic contracts while being registered with the Questing Lion Company.”
Vincent looked at the three adventurers and concluded, “It means anyone registered will be immune to a magic contract about being under someone else’s protection to pay them money.”
[Not bad if I say so myself.] Kazumi praised.
“I agree. They will have a way to protect themselves when taking a quest. Protecting them when not taking a quest will make them too dependent on us unless...” Mimi paused and looked at the three adventurers. “I am a Guild Master and know the rules to heart. There is nothing against being employed while accepting a quest.”
“Employed?” Vincent questioned.
“Yeah. Similar to how soldiers wear insignia on their armor, we could offer clothes to adventurers. We can also offer them a team and do quests with people in the same company.” Mimi answered.
[Not a bad idea, but we currently have too much on our plate to think bout such things.]
“I will think about it later. Currently, I need to focus on the judgment by combat...”
“Don’t worry. I know how the Adventurers Guild works.” Mimi interrupted. “I can go apply tomorrow and show my generosity to hurry the procedure. Then I can help in managing the Questing Lion Company.”
Vincent and Kazumi were surprised to hear Mimi show the desire to take care of a business while being a Guild Master of the Adventurers Guild.
‘Mimi was on the fence about marrying me to help in the judgment by combat. Why is she now interested in doing a job different than a Guild Master?... women are confusing.’ Vincent thought.
On the other hand, Kazumi positively thought, ‘Mimi can rake us a good amount of money, hehe. I think we found a solution to make money without doing much, hehe.’
“I will leave the adventurers in your hands then. ” Vincent told Mimi. He looked at the adventurers and continued, “As you know, many things are happing at once, and I can’t offer help immediately.”
*Tap, Tap* Vincent tapped on the table and asked, “I any of you are interested in the offer, are you willing to wait for a few weeks?”
“I am willing to wait for a network of F Ranked adventurers. To have someone take to know if something went wrong in a quest is reassuring. That is also another deciding factor to wait for me.”
“I am intrested in the opportuinit. I believe the others will be as well.”
“Being able to prove I am a part of the Lionheart family’s Company will make me feel safer walking the streets. I will not feel afraid to snagging by a thug and force a contract.”
Vincent, Kazumi, and Mimi became pleased to hear the three adventurers agree with positive comments.
The two vice-captains became impressed Vincent was willing to help people who did not have much means to protect themselves. They thought Vincent’s generosity knew no bounds because five percent from a meager F Ranked quest reward wasn’t worth offering the Lionheart family name for protection.
Vincent stood up and clapped once. “We have arrived at an agreement, and it is now time to call it a day. I can tell what happened today has taken a toll on both your bodies and minds.”
“Go and rest. An adventurer needs an able body and mind.” Vincent said while approaching the three adventurers.
“Visit the mansion daily, and ask the gate guards if the preparations have been finalized. But there is no need to visit with a large group. One person visiting in the morning and the evening is enough.”
