594 Claws vs Earth Magic
Deadeye went outside. He stomped his foot angrily and said, “Damn filthy beastman. You and your other damn companion ruined everything I built this year.”
*Sigh* “Now I understand why no one wanted to join me, and I had to find new people to join my gang. They knew it would be risky without the protection of secret sponsors and a lot of people working together.” Deadeye continued while frowning at the wall shaking from Lupa’s constant barrage of attacks.
Deadeye turned around. He started walking away from the building, yet his hand kept holding his wand with a firm hold. He was worried soldiers arrive to arrest him after the loud sounds they produced.
*Crack, crack, bam!* The wall broke, and a cloud of dust covered the entrance to the building.
Deadeye stopped and faced the entrance to look at the could of dust. “Damn! What the hell is that beastman? Why didn’t I bring another stick vail...” He wondered before starting to chant for an Earth Shard spell.
Lupa dashed out of the cloud of dust. She leaped at Deadeye, yet her claws missed their target, and her foot lost balance.
Deadeye smirked at the exhausted-looking Lupa while completing his chant. A small block of hardened earth with a sharp tip at each end hovered around him with Earth Manipulation skill.
Deadeye controlled the earth and pointed the sharp tip at Lupa. He thrust it forward as if an invisible hand held the earth spike.
Lupa could feel Deadeye’s intent, yet Primal Insight didn’t activate. She grunted and moved her body as quickly as she possibly could to dodge the attack narrowly.
.....
Lupa jumped back to make some distance. She breathed heavily while recovering her stamina.
Lupa was exhausted after breaking the thick earth wall with her claws. Additionally, her vision wasn’t that good after overusing Primal Insight to the point of her eyes watering with tears of blood.
Anyone could tell Lupa was standing and remaining fighting with the last of her strength. Deadeye could tell, and he considered it wouldn’t take too long to take care of the exhausted wolf girl maid in front of him.
The two went on the offense.
Deadeye used the hovering earth he manipulated to block Lupa’s attacks. However, it wasn’t enough against an opponent that attacks wildly while sometimes sending a chill down his spine.
Even though the wolf girl in front of him was in a greatly weakened state, a predator was always a predator.
In the end, Deadeye resorted to utilizing the Earth Manipulation he could control to its full potential by making a small area of the ground around Lupa’s feet shake and forcing her body to lose balance.
Lupa used her survival instincts to narrowly dodge the attacks while trying to keep her balance. However, Lupa was getting scratched a couple of times, yet it was better than falling and getting stabbed by the sharp hovering Earth Shard hovering around Deadeye.
The fight became a stalemate between the exhausted Lupa and the earth mage, who was finding it difficult fighting against a close combat opponent.
Deadeye wasn’t powerful enough to beat Lupa, yet he was powerful enough to fight on par with her because of another reason. Primal Insight didn’t activate another time, and Lupa couldn’t end the fight with the immense focus she would have.
Behind the two fighting outside, inside the dark corridor of the building, was Ester worrying about Lupa. She quickly removed her earth sigil and tattoo protection to try her other two elements.
Ester tried using her wind tattoos, but the sticky substance didn’t fly away. Instead, it only bubbled and popped for the wind to exit.
However, Ester didn’t give up. She used the frost sigil, and the sticky substance began to freeze. Ester smirked and used the wind tattoo. The freezing sticky substance started cracking and breaking.
“So this burns with fire and freezes like any other liquid. ” Ester smirked and used mana on the frost sigils and wind tattoos to freeze and shatter the remaining frozen sticky substance.
Lupa jumped back to make the distance. She needed to recuperate her breathing.
Lupa looked back and saw cool white light forming the vague figure of a person. The person appeared to be running.
Lupa smirked and faced Deadeye without worrying about Ester being trapped by the trap she hated and feared the most.
“If sister won over stickiness, then I will win over feeling tired and losing my balance. ” Lupa said to motivate herself. She felt a rush of adrenaline, and she couldn’t help but grin excitedly.
“You are my prey!” Lupa exclaimed while rushing at her opponent. She wanted to win without receiving help from Ester. Lupa wanted to prove she was fit the be Vincent’s right-hand girl and be the strongest woman in the family.
Lupa felt the ground underneath her feet shake. She stopped before losing her balance and extended the claws of her feet. Lupa pierced the earth with her claws as she clawed the ground.
Lupa took a step. She grinned at how easy it was and how her balance could be retained. Lupa quickened her pace and, after a few steps, clawing the ground became second nature.
Deadeye became flustered when making his opponent lose their balance wasn’t working anymore. He focused on chanting quicker and later said, “Earth Wall.”
Lupa ran unhindered from Deadeye’s tricks. She heard “Earth Wall” and felt the ground around her shake.
Lupa jumped back, and a wall of earth emerged from her previous position. If Lupa didn’t jump back, she would have been knocked down or flung in the air.
Lupa became angry. A wall was in between them. “Why are you blocking the way like you blocked the way outside? Face me like a male, you coward!” She angrily exclaimed after suffering cheap trick after the other.
Lupa’s ears moved, and a smile appeared on her face. She moved her head before a cold hand touched her shoulder.
“Lupa. Leave that thug to me.” Ester said.
“I was going to beat my prey alone, but he was using tricks.” Lupa looked at the wall and continued, “So I will use my sister as a trick.”
“Haha.” Ester laughed. She extended her hand forward, and a ball of condensed wind began to form. “Burst forth.” She said while shooting the ball of wind at the wall one meter away from them.
The ball of condensed wind became smaller the more it traveled. Regardless of the size, it clashed against the earth wall and destroyed it with a loud explosion.
Ester went in front of Lupa and protected her from the randomly shooting fragments of the earth. Now that Ester could use Earth Tattoo at will, only her clothes will get damaged. As such, Maid Xu was going to have extra work fixing Ester’s maid outfit.
The five victims exited the building. They saw their two maid saviors standing in front of a cloud of dust. They started to believe the last thug was defeated, but to their surprise, he wasn’t.
The cloud of dust disperses, and they could see Deadeye walk backward. He tried to make a run for it, but after almost reaching the alleyway, he had to stop.
“The soldiers are here!” One of the male victims exclaimed.
“We’re saved!” Another happily exclaimed.
In front of Deadeye were around ten soldiers and a vice-captain. Lilith, Jun Ye Rim, and Iris holding Plow were beside the vice-captain. The soldiers weren’t sponsored, and they sometimes glanced at Lilith as if they wanted to be in her good books.
“Deadeye, huh? So one of the many thugs who decided to use the F Rankers for their own greed is standing in front of me. Haha. This can’t be a better day. ” The vice-captain happily said. He was already thinking about having an achievement to brag about.
“You will not get me alive!” Deadeye shouted while taking another step back.
The vice-captain moved his gaze at the two maids. He could tell the two had given the three thugs Lilith reported a run for their money.
“Where are the other two criminals?” He asked.
“We killed them, hehe. ” Lupa answered with a smile. She acted as if telling soldiers that killing the two thugs was some kind of achievement.
Deadeye quietly chanted a spell while the vice-captain and Lupa spoke. He said, “Earth Spike.” Multiple times before shooting them at the soldiers and Ester and Lupa.
The Earth Spikes were manipulated to shatter and send a barrage of sharp fragments at Deadeye’s enemies. Additionally, as his nickname implies, none of the fragments were going to miss their targets.
The soldiers raised their shields while the vice-captain protected Iris, Lilith, Plow, and Jun Ye Rim. The shields became dented, and the legs of some soldiers suffered injuries.
On the other hand, Plow struggled and jumped out of Iris’s arms. She faced the opposite direction of the fragment projectiles and controlled her tails to form a tail shield.
The fragments the vice-captain couldn’t block from injuring Iris, Lilith, or Jun Ye Rim’s legs were blocked by the brave little fox.
On the other side, Ester stood in front of Lupa and blocked all the fragments. However, she couldn’t move while watching Deadeye head back into the building.
Fortunately, the victims moved away from the entrance of the building in fear of being hit by the fragment projectiles. It caused Deadeye to think against capturing a hostage as it would take more time than his little distraction could provide. In the end, Deadeye went inside the building alone.
