“The deer woman is in a far worse condition than the mermaid. Five silver coins for her.” Vincent offered.

“Another time? Boss, we can’t sell them less than familiars!” The shady man complained. He looked angry. Vincent was offering low prices, and his boss was accepting the deal.

The slave trader was about to burst from anger because of his subordinate. Additionally, he couldn’t believe how badly the newly arrived slaves were treated.

Nevertheless, the slave trader couldn’t lose his reputation, or the people sponsoring and backing him could remove him from his position.

*Sigh* The slave trader shook his head and said with a defeated and stressed expression, “Take her for ten silver coins because she had more spunk than that broken mermaid. But remember, ten silver coins is the final price.”

“Sold. ” Vincent said promptly.

Vincent acted with a friendly poker face, yet his anger was immeasurable. He wanted to beat every person involved and save the slaves, yet he currently has too much going on his plate.

The illegal slave trader could be connected to an unknown number of higher-ups. Furthermore, Vincent might be accused of a made-up crime by these said people.

.....

Thus, Vincent had to try his best to calm down, save those in front of him, and let Russo take the rest.

“But boss! The boys didn’t rough them up that much! Why are you still selling them for cheap?” The shady man complained.

When the shady man saw his boss didn’t respond, he dropped the chains angrily. The thought of not receiving a bonus simply because the slaves weren’t in good condition infuriated him. Not to mention his boss acted as if it was all his fault.

“I will have a talk with the boys, and they aren’t going to like it.” The shady man grunted while leaving the room angrily

*Sigh* The slave trader walked for the door. “I need to have a talk with my subordinate. Please wait here and don’t touch the slaves before paying for them. I will not be out for long.” He said before going after his subordinate.

In the room were now five slaves looking at Vincent and the girls behind him.

They exchanged glances at each other before Vincent decided to break the awkward mood by saying, “Bear this for a little longer. I promise to buy the five of you and give you a good life in my home.”

“Don’t be afraid of us. We will save you. You have our word.” Ester said with a warm smile.

Ester spoke as if she was saying these words to her past self. The past Ester who was forced to become a slave and resisted with all her might the slave curse.

Only after watching how badly slaves were actually treated could she realize how much Vincent being summoned near her was a blessing. Sometimes she felt embarrassed to think about how she pointed a knife at Vincent.

“We will provide clean beds, clean clothes, fresh food, and good life similar to ordinary live-in workers.” Lilith continued after Ester.

Lilith also had an idea about the slaves’ suffering and doubt. She had suffered for ten years, and before Vincent saved her, Lilith experienced the life of an unwanted illegal slave.

“We will offer help with the delivery of the baby. I have enough herbs to relieve the pain, so do not be afraid. I will do my best to help, even if it will be my first time.” Iris offered while her eyes couldn’t leave the female lizardman.

The five slaves looked surprised, yet their expressions remained full of doubt. They were words, after all. They didn’t sign a contract of trust, nor did they know Vincent and the others enough to believe their words.

Jun Ye Rim remained silent while holding Plow with one arm. She felt too horrified to think what the five in front of her had to endure.

It made Jun Ye Rim realize how her life wasn’t as bad as she believed it was. She started to believe being kicked out by her family was still not as bad as being a mistreated slave.

Plow looked at the five slaves while recalling the bad memories of being forgotten. She was locked in a cage since she was born and watched others being fed while she was forgotten.

However, Plow’s previous life became unrecognizable after Vincent bought her. Now she could see how much of a difference her life had become after her fateful encounter with a man from another world.

Ester, Lilith, and Plow compared their previous life to their current ones. Only after entering such a horrible place could they realize how fortunate it was to meet Vincent and accept staying with him.

On the other hand, Lupa didn’t reveal too much empathy.

Lupa kept looking at the slaves like any other ordinary person. She was trying to judge if the five slaves could prove an exciting fight in a sparing match after they recovered.

Lupa crossed her arms and looked with a frown at the five slaves for being too weak to spar with her.

“Humph! They are weak, and they do not want to talk to us. It is like my mate once said, if you are not going to save yourself, then who is going to save you?” Lupa looked at the deer woman and continued, “You look like you want to fight with your weak body. What do you say?”

Lupa tried to make one of the slaves talk, and she succeeded.

The deer woman looked at Lupa with a frown. “How can you know our savior’s words?” She questioned with a rough voice from a parched throat.

[Saviour? Could she mean what we think she means?] Kazumi curiously said. She wondered what the deer woman meant with great interest.

Vincent turned his gaze at the deer woman. He approached her and looked at her uncovered dirty fur-covered arms and legs.

The deer woman closed her eyes. She believed Vincent was about to do something to her. However, nothing happened. She opened her eye and saw Vincent looking at her from head to toe.

“Do you have a mark on your body? Not a criminal brand, though. Furthermore, can I know what you mean by savior and the reason were constantly looking at me?” Vincent asked.

“A brand?” She asked.

“Yes. A mark on your body that is similar to a brand, yet it can never go away.” Vincent explained.

The deer woman shook her head while saying, “No.” She soon noticed Vincent’s expression looked dispirited by the response.

“Humph! Why were you interested in my mate if you don’t have what my mate seeks?” Lupa asked before Ester tapped on her shoulder to stop being hostile.

“Eyes.” The deer woman said. “Green eyes, like jewels, are the sign of fortune. That is what my mother, who followed our green leader, taught me. Only those with emerald eyes and who act kind can be our saviors. They are the people we should strive to follow.”

“By leader, do you mean a man named Kevin Brooks?” Vincent decided to ask a very risky question. He hoped to receive a hint. Even the slightest facial movement would signify the deer woman had heard Kevin’s name before.

The deer woman became surprised to hear a name she had only heard in her childhood. She looked at Vincent as if he knew something only her family and beastman tribe knew.

[That expression means she has heard of Kevin before. Could her parents have been Kevin’s retainers? Furthermore, if my thought is correct, the retainer mark will not be passed down to the child, letting the child live an ordinary life.]

“Did your parents have a retainer mark, perhaps? It’s not I am hunting people that have connections with the invaders or anything like that. I am just looking for clues about the previous otherworldly man...”

The deer woman’s legs shivered, and she suddenly kneeled on the floor. She looked at Vincent and said, “This humble servant will follow your wishes. I will accept this fateful encounter as my fate, my awaited savior.”

Vincent, Ester, Lupa, Kazumi, Iris, Lilith, Jun Ye Rim, and Plow were taken by surprise. Even the four slaves beside the deer woman couldn’t believe she would kneel and accept Vincent as her master with no more questions asked.

Only a few minutes passed, and the deer woman accepted Vincent without showing any more doubt. Yet, the deer woman still wasn’t finished talking.

The deer woman lowered her head and said, “The green-eyed man who seeks the tracks of the green wolf will become the beacon to meet once again. Wait for the fated arrival. A century will not defeat us.”

“What was that?” Question Vincent.

“That is a secret of our tribe.” The deer woman smiled warmly at Vincent as if she was looking at her hero who saved her life. “The beacon must be you, right? Green-eyed man who asked questions of our leader. There is no more coincidence than this fated day.”

The room became silent after the deer woman provided more information than Vincent and the rest could ever expect.
