525 The mysterious name

The sky darkened as the night crept. After all those present in the mansion enjoyed a lively dinner and rested for some time, they all went to the entrance to say farewell.

Tiffi hugged her father and said farewell to the two butlers and the old maid. She told them how the academy wasn’t as bad as expected because of her Sigil Mage Class.

Melissa sometimes took good care of her, while Maria and Ester took good care of her other times.

Aceon became ever more thankful his daughter was experiencing an almost everyday academic life. Tiffi told her father how her teammates aren’t that bad but aren’t the best either.

Melissa acted as if she wanted to be the most famous out of everyone present. On the other hand, the other three teammates act as if they distrusted Tiffi’s credibility.

Being betrayed caused the three of them to become distrustful of Tiffi. Only with time might they become friends with Tiffi one day.

While Tiffi was saying her farewells, Bessy approached Vincent. She extended her hands and gave him two magic scrolls. “Thank you.” She said before heading back inside.

.

[1x Magical Contract Scroll (Rare Quality) gained.]

.....

[1x Minor Heal Scroll (Rare Quality) gained.]

.

Vincent stored the scrolls and was surprised at the notification window’s appearance. He didn’t expect to receive a much more valuable scroll this time.

[It is great to receive a valuable scroll, but Bessy looks different. She looks a little bit worn out, and I also noticed her appetite has lessened because she didn’t eat much today and only a little bit more than last time she ate with us.]

-I didn’t notice while eating.- Vincent looked at Maid Xu and continued -I will see what I can do.-

Vincent went to Maid Xu and requested a favor. After exchanging a few sentences back and forth, Maid Xu agreed to his plan of helping Bessy.

“I will ask Lady Bessy about what we discussed. I hope she will allow me to attach the Lionheart insignia to her blouse and see her return from her business trips less stressed.”

“Thanks. You are the best.”

“I would be dead from overwork by now if I wasn’t the best.”

“...” Vincent looked at Maid Xu with a shocked expression. He didn’t think she was going to lay the truth out on his face.

Sakura gave Vincent a pair of wood gauntlets. Vincent awkwardly coughed and received version two of the wood gauntlets. It had a couple of small wood spikes spread around the gauntlet and the knuckles.

“Impressive as always, Sakura. Minor Stamina Boost increased by two percent, and this pair of gauntlets have Minor Bleeding Enhancement on them.” Vincent explained while praising how Sakura was gradually improving.

Sakura glanced at Lupa. “But I need to add durability next time. I need to give you the best wood gauntlets before I start making the metal version of it.”

Lupa twitched her ears while acting as if she didn’t hear Sakura. She went to hide behind Ester with her tail lowered for destroying the previous wood gauntlets.

.

After Vincent took another peek at his new stats, he raised on his toes and extended his head over to Sakura. “Thanks for today’s dual cultivation.” He whispered.

Sakura blushed while watching Vincent leave with a grin on his face.

*Lusterfall Noble Academy – Entrance*

The carriage arrived in front of the entrance. After staying with Sofy for a while to give the horses some rest, they headed inside and split up.

Maria headed back to her parents. Tiffi headed back to team one island while the rest went to team ten island.

After arriving on their island, Vincent asked if they enjoyed a good Sunday today.

“Yes, it was different. It felt nice to dance and receive praise.” Ester smiled while continuing, “Even the grumpy Maria praised me today. It made me feel happy to show her the move you helped me name.”

“That is nice to hear. I am glad you had fun.”

*Woof*[I sparred, and I also played a human game called bingo.]

*Whimper* [... but I never won. ]

Lupa shook her head *Woof!* [Next time, I will win!]

*Sigh* “I hope you will not get too obsessive to win...”

“I tended the garden and played with Olive, Lian, Nix, and Tusk. We also later joined the bingo game thingy. It was fun to win bingo.” Iris said.

Iris suddenly felt a strange gaze. She looked down and saw Lupa staring at her. Lupa was acting as if she was going to beat Iris next time.

“It’s great that you enjoyed your day with the kids and...” Vincent looked at Lupa and smirked. “won some of the games.”

Lupa became unhappy when Vincent teased her about not winning once while Iris won more than her.

“I never imagined our home could become that cheerful and happy. People training and people playing fun games.” Lilith smiled pleasantly and continued, “The mansion is nothing like the depressing place it was before.”

Plow slyly looked at the unhappy white wolf and said, “Vincent Vincent. Plow won one time.” *~Pho~* “Bingo is nice because foxes are better than wolves.”

Lupa glared at the boasting Plow, promising to win next time at all costs. She pouted and ran to their bedroom, where she shapeshifted back into a wolf girl and waited under the bedsheets for Vincent’s right arm pillow to give her a good sleep.

“Is that why Lupa was in a bad mood?” Ester gently pinched Plow’s cheek and continued, “Please do not tease Lupa too much. Little Plow is a good girl, isn’t she.”

“Plow is a good girl.” *Pho* Plow said in a happy mood. Her victory over Lupa gave the little blue fox great dreams.

*Day 161 – 16 November – Monday*

The first day of the twelfth week arrived.

While Vincent went to the morning lesson to keep improving, he heard of a new name being circulated. When he asked Nick if he knew anything, Nick shook his head and explained how it was a first year’s name, but he didn’t know of anyone with that name.

Kazumi became curious if there was going to be a new transfer student soon. She got excited as the name sounded to me more of a girl’s name rather than a boy’s name.

As the day passed and it came to an end, Kazumi started to suspect some classmates knew who it was while Maria being the noble insensitive Maria didn’t know if there was going to be a transfer student or if it was even a student’s name.

*Day 162 – 17 November – Tuesday*

On the following day, Vincent was unnecessarily becoming curious because of Kazumi’s many questions and guesses.

“Just who is this Mirey everyone is whispering about?” Vincent questioned after having enough of the mystery.

Nick smirked. “How about we ask?” He suggested.

Shortly, two frowning and intimidating students appeared from a corner. Both approached a group of one male and two female students talking.

“Hey, you three.” Said Vincent with a rather aggressive approach. “Tell me what you know about the name Mirey.”

“Yeah. You better talk, or I might have to act...” *Crack* Nick cracked his knuckles and continued, “Violent with you guys and gals.”

The three students became intimidated. They explained how all they knew were two things. It might be a woman with pointy ears, and it also might be a first-year student.

“Wait!” Vincent shouted after the three students left, running as if they were in grave danger.

“Vincent... we only have two first-year students with elven blood coursing through their veins.” Nick patted Vincent’s shoulder and continued, “But we still do not know why...”

“Huh? Is there something wrong, Nick?” Vincent asked.

Nick shook his head. “Vincent, could you please give me some time before I tell you what I think?” He requested all of a sudden.

[Did Nick discover something about the meaning behind the name Mirey? I am dying out of curiosity over here.]

Vincent later asked Biro, Ton, and Ollie, but they didn’t hear about such a name. Most probably because the students would be too exhausted to gossip about others.

*Day 163 – 18 November – Wednesday*

*Day 164 – 19 November – Thursday*

.....

*Day 165 – 20 November – Friday*

Two days passed without ever finding out. Nick kept saying he needed more time to investigate his guess, while Clair didn’t know anything about the name.

Maria heard the name Mirey from Vincent, Ester, Lilith, and some students she passed by. She gradually became interested during the week and wanted to know about the name suddenly appearing out of the blue.

After Friday’s lesson, Maira went to ask a student who mentioned the name Mirey today.

“Not talking, huh!?”

“Please, leave me alone, teacher Maria. I did nothing to deserve bullying.”

*Sigh* “Why are you making it sound bad? Speak and begone.”

“But you are threatening me...”

“Huh? You deaf and blind noble brat?” Maria said while getting angry. “Can’t you see I am asking a question politely?”

“Ok-Okay. I will talk! The truth is...”
