280 The fail-safe plan is initiated, and the silencing begins

“I want to help my future wife’s family. Tell me, father-in-law, do you perhaps keep a few of those flowers planted to stop being dependant on the Blackhearts?” Vincent asked.

Leonis raised his gaze and looked at Vincent with a pair of red eyes. It was a shameful sight, but he didn’t care to show such humiliating sight. Leonis felt he was already at the bottom.

“I kept a few and tended to them carefully. They require mana to survive, so I spend most of the days feeding them mine. However... only five are barely alive.” Leonis answered sadly.

“But why are you asking about a flower that didn’t regrow, not even one blossom in ten years of trying every day. ” Leonis added with a hopeless look on his face. Furthermore, Leonis revealed why he has a lot of mana and is still in the second stage of the mage class.

“Great. My girl and Lilith’s new sister can help you then. Her class is the Druid class, and she can turn a flower into a Magical Seed that can grow in any type of soil. In other words, I might be able to provide five seeds of the plant your wife requires.” Vincent said.

The word Druid surprised almost everyone in the hall. Only Plow and the three little girls didn’t look at Vincent as if he said the biggest lie they ever heard in their lives. Their faces showed expressions of shock, awe, and surprise.

[I know her class looked special and all, but what’s with their expressions? Even Leonis forgot to be sad.]

“Huh? Why are you looking at me like this?” He asked quickly after it started bothering him. A fear of Iris having a dangerous or self-harming class worried him.

The situation confused Vincent and Kazumi. No one spoke. They simply stared at Vincent as if hearing something unbelievable. However, if it is good or bad, both don’t know.

.....

“Maid Xu, Iris isn’t a dangerous person. Iris was in a fit of rage after she saw her people killed brutally. It was then that she created the vine monsters you saw, but you also saw how she paid the price and the state she ended up in.” Vincent tried to involve Maid Xu as the witness.

The half-sisters, who were the other non-biased witnesses, were outside. They and the twins were guarding the entrance gate with the old loyal soldiers who the Lionhearts sponsored before the Blackhearts got involved.

“She made them? I saw a small one where Lupa, Ester, and Iris were. Was that her doing as well?” Maid Xu asked in disbelief of what she heard.

“But aren’t Druids or Shamans one in a million goblin and one in a thousand variant goblin?” Sakura questioned. She forgot how her new class was considered the best of the best when it came to crafting.

“I overheard a slave once talk about a legend in the Eastern Continent. It was about a Druid starting the forestation of the Eastern Continent to have a no human haven. Now many people call it the Eastern Jungle.” Sofy revealed a possible truth or a possible stretched rumor made into a believable truth.

“Really? The books say how a Druid is the guide of life. It’s the only class that has the ability to control the living nature, unlike mages with earth magic. Right, father?” Lilith looked slightly happier, and she was looking forward to meeting the new sister named Iris.

Lilith looked hopeful instead of sad since she trusted Vincent. Even if they met two times, the things he did for her, for those he made promises with, and the kindness he displayed made Lilith trust Vincent unconditionally.

“Y-yes...” Leonis was out of words.

“Ahem.” Vincent loudly cleared his throat to gain attention back on him and asked, “We can meet Iris when she comes here, but father-in-law, don’t tell me mother-in-law is still outside?”

Leonis took a handkerchief from his pocket and cleaned his face. He tried to forget how much he embarrassed himself after letting go of the repressed emotions.

Leonis got up and collected himself. Then requested only for Vincent, Lilith, and Maid Xu to follow him.

‘My best friends helped me so much by offering their best healers in secret for Teresa to look pleasant before my little angel meets her. But, unfortunately, we had to keep our movements a secret, or they would have healed Teresa days ago. I hope Teresa is healthier and looks fine with the makeup chest we brought in the hidden compartment.’ Leonis pondered as he walked to the entrance door.

The smaller guest hall became quiet now. The little girls playing and petting Plow remained on the sofa in their own world.

On the other hand, Sakura and Sofy kept an eye on the kids. The two didn’t have much to talk about, so Sofy slyly asked if Sakura would be okay with her being a mistress.

One word brought another, and Sakura learned how the demons and the elves aren’t too different from each other.

The elves have the custom of loving or showing their body to only one person and living with them for the rest of their partner’s life.

Sofy’s persistence to Vincent’s acceptance is because she wanted to be part of the elves even if she never received the baptism of spirit cleansing from the elven central city on the Western Continent.

Sofy fought back against her owner after she learned of such custom and how the elven slaves get treated after refusing to leave the owner who they must serve unless they don’t want their spirit to ascend to the next life.

On the other hand, the demons have the custom that if a demon loves a non-demon or their blood isn’t blue anymore, the poor demons have to fend for themselves and find a new way to live if what happened to them was unplanned or an accident of misfortune.

Sakura slowly started the journey of trusting those people who wished no harm regardless of their blood color. Vincent was the one who made Sakura realize how the person with two blood types acted like any good-hearted demon she met.

The blood inside one’s body didn’t matter. Only their personality and actions mattered.

*Lionheart mansion entrance*

Leonis stopped in front of a luxurious carriage with the golden Lionheart insignia on the door. However, the fine scratches, fake gold embellishments, and unprofessionally nailed wood were observed only after approaching closer.

Vincent and Kazumi had the impression of a fake nobleman trying to scam people with false prestige.

*Knock, knock* Leonis knocked on the carriage’s door and asked if his wife was feeling better. Then he added how Lilith was behind him, and she wanted to meet her mother after a long time.

The door opened, and an old maid slowly descended the passenger steps. She closed the door and noticed an extra person she had never seen was beside Lilith.

“My lord, the lady is prepared to welcome guests. The healers did their best, and my lady might be able to walk now... but my lady feels tired, and her legs are weak from not walking for a long time.” The old maid respectfully said.

The maid placed her hand on the door handle to open the door for Lilith when *Woosh* an arrow suddenly hit the maid’s shoulder.

Kazumi immediately noticed ten black clocked people standing in the wall with a bow in their hands. She notified Vincent when *Boom* fire raised from the gate area, and the light was illuminating the surroundings as if it was morning.

Vincent glared at the assassins and uttered with his teeth revealed from anger, “Overheat.”

While Vincent was transforming and his stats rising, the ten assassins shot an arrow.

Vincent extended his hand and summoned the corpse of the headless Alpha Grizzly Bear.

Bright green light radiated, and a large green mountain started materializing. Most of the corpse materialized in the nick of time as ten loud *clangs* sounded almost simultaneously.

“Everyone. Take shelter behind this corpse. Leonis, protect everyone with your wind spells while I take care of them. I don’t have much time to waste.” Vincent ordered with an authoritative hoarse voice.

Leonis decided to trust Vincent and opened the carriage door. “NO!” He shouted when he saw an arrow lodged in his wife’s shoulder.

Leonis raised his hand and said, “Protect us from the harm O benevolent air spirits. I offer mana as a bountiful price of thy benevolence. Wind Wall.” He combined the spell with Wind Manupliation to lift his wife’s body and move her outside.

Leonis gently lowered his wife’s body on the ground. He fell on his knees and checked how deep the arrow went inside.

Lilith rushed over and shouted, “Mother.” while Maid Xu shouted, “My lady.” Additionally, the old maid crawled over to check on Lilith’s mother and weakly said, “Ohh, noo... my lady...”

[Vincent, we need to act quickly. You have forty Soul Power remaining. It’s enough for two non-retainer heals.]

Vincent didn’t have time to spare for kindness. He had to act quickly no matter what he did. Lilith’s life and noble status were at stake.

Vincent noticed Lilith’s mother was unconscious, so he checked her condition to understand what he was dealing with.
