278 Your daughter will be mine

Leonis heard from his friend Byron Sunrise that the man he once met named Vincent was about to cause trouble where his daughter lives. Additionally, the Royal Faction was going to use Vincent as an excuse to put pressure on the Noble Faction.

However, the situation changed drastically. His daughter was finally saved at the cost of being stolen by another man. All Leonis wanted was for his daughter to return home and be happy in their care.

Was it hard to ask for one year... one month... one week... one day... or at least one hour without a man...

“My... my little angel... what is the meaning of this? I heard from Vincent how he only met you once two weeks ago. Why do you two look so intimate? Am I missing something, or was I lied to?” Leonis couldn’t understand why his daughter was all of a sudden acting like this. Furthermore, the handshake became fiercer, and more veins started appearing on his old hands.

Lilith looked as happy with Vincent as when she met her father after ten years of not seeing each other. Such thoughts made Leonis hate Vincent for stealing his precious daughter.

“I want to elope with Vincent and be one of his women even if I don’t get consent from my kind father and mother. I will leave with Vincent if I can’t marry my knight in shining armor.” Lilith somewhat threatened to elope and leave with Vincent should her father deny his daughter’s chance for a second marriage.

Leonis frowned and glared at Vincent now. The man who was about to steal his daughter just when she became available was in front of him. “Did... did I mishear my little angel?”

Vincent could feel his hand about to become numb. He returned the favor and started using his strength to compete against the Baron’s firm handshake.

[Are you going to start the counterattack? The word father-in-law seems to piss him off, hehe. It would help if you used it more, hehe.]

.....

Vincent smirked and said, “I want to marry your daughter Baron Leonis Lionheart. Please leave your daughter in my hands, and I will make her happy.” He didn’t back down.

A green light appeared beside Lilith, and a document materialized. Lilith looked down and smiled after recalling Vincent’s and Biro’s conversation regarding the ownership of the property.

“Father, look at this.” She took the document and handed it over to her father.

Leonis started reading with one hand at first, but the more he read, the more surprised he became. The handshake war stopped, and he firmly held the document with both hands. Leonis wanted to make sure his eyes weren’t deceiving him.

“This! Is this document authentic?” Leonis asked.

Vincent nodded and replied, “Yes, it is. I saw him write it personally and forge Lilith’s signature. There is also a seal of both families marked with that strange inky wax.

Leonis understood what Vincent’s words signified immediately. He frowned and asked, “Do you do it?”

[Are you going to reveal what you did to Lilith’s father? I suggest against it because of his truth curse, but it will be difficult to explain without going much into detail.]

-Then I will try to let Leonis guess the answer himself. –

Vincent looked around with a pensive look. He didn’t speak at first, but after the unusual act of I-can-not-answer-you, Vincent smirked and said, “I can’t say what happened, but I don’t think you should know what happened with your problem.”

‘So Vincent killed him then... I don’t think Vincent is an atrocious man although he killed a person... but I can’t let my little angel be swayed this murder’s words.’ Leonis thought.

Ironically, Leonis wanted their situation to change, his daughter saved, and justice served. However, he was distraught when his daughter wanted to be with the man who delivered all the three wishes by ending Demel Blackheart’s life.

Fixing bad with bad will always remain as bad.

Lilith could feel a weird air surrounding the two. “Father... I heard from my darling how you were cursed like me. But one where my father can’t lie.”

“I believed the words of my darling immediately because my maid overheard people call my father, The Truthful Lion.” She said with a tear welling in her eyes.

“But father, now I am grown up and free from my prison. I want to let my father and mother live their life without worrying about me. My darling and my new sisters will be my new family.” Lilith said with a smile and a pair of yearning eyes.

Maid Xu noticed Leonis looked confused at the word ‘sisters.’

“My lord, this humble maid can explain what my lady said. I heard and saw how Vincent has multiple lovers. They call each other sisters and care for each other like sisters. I already met with three.” Maid Xu informed the shocked Leonis.

[Hehe. Leonis looks like he is about to strangle you. Well, it is understandable after his daughter suffered from a marriage.]

[However, unlike the well-known Viscount Demel Blackheath, you are unknown to Leonis, and the future is the same. Leonis isn’t going to let his daughter go without a fight.]

“Sisters, yes, hehe. But that is old news. I have a new sister over there.” Lilith giggled while pointing at Sakura and Sofy.

“An elf slave is your competition... I mean, sister?” Leonis was out of words. However, his face soon turned sour when Lilith corrected, “No. The demon is my new sister, silly. The elf will be our new maid and carriage chauffeur.”

Leonis sweated bullets, and his heart raced to the point it almost started to hurt. He held his chest tightly with one hand and said, “So this womanizer saved my daughter to steal her away from me? He wants to become a noble and has a demon as a woman as well... don’t tell me. ”

“I will marry all my woman after I become a noble. Lilith will be the head wife of the family in the eyes of the law, so you need not worry, father-in-law.” Vincent said with a straight face.

He raised a smile and teased, “Furthermore, I will cure the curse your daughter is suffering from.”

“The news you heard about your daughter being unable to have a child is true. But I can break to rules, heal her problem, and maybe one day. Baron Leonis Lionheart can become a grandfather from your daughter.” Vincent decided to change the subject to Lilith instead.

The offer was announced, yet Vincent added, “I can also cure your curse. You would be able to lie without losing your life.”

Leonis was stuck in a daze. He heard so many seemingly impossible commitments all at once that Vincent’s words became difficult to believe because Vincent didn’t look like a healer nor a healer more powerful than the current Royal Doctor Hibiscus.

To Leonis, his words were like waves in the water. A lie to rock the boat of trust and vanish with what he wanted to steal. Leonis thought Vincent was not only a womanizer but also a scam artist. At a high level at that.

Leonis decided to persuade Vincent against aiming for his daughter by saying, “Bold words Vincent. However, you should know that the Blackhearts took almost all our money as funds to the so-called healing funds.”

“It means scamming or blackmailing us will net you no gain.” Leonis took a peek at his daughter to see if she would at least agree with his statement. However, he could only see a frown on her face.

Leonis realized his daughter wanted to be with Vincent no matter what. *Sigh* He turned his gaze back at Vincent and said, “Even if the Viscount blackmailing is now dead, it is difficult for the Lionheart family to keep the business going with practically no funds left and a few remaining items left unsold.”

Leonis then placed his hand on Vincent’s shoulder and added, “We almost have no money, and we might become fallen nobles with the lowest rank soon. Do you still intend to pursue my daughter?”

‘My words should make Vincent understand he stands to gain nothing by hurting my daughter’s feeling just to become rich or gain a noble rank. I need to hear it from his mouth if he will still accept my little angel.’ Leonis was proud of his persuasive statement to make Vincent reveal his true nature.

[It looks like the situation is far worse than we imagined. What do you think of doing? I personally would suggest offering the eight gold we scammed.]

-I like the idea, but I want to give more.-

[More? What else can you offer or provide to make you sound so confident.]

“Father-in-law, Baron Leonis Lionheart. I am not looking for money. I want your daughter, and I am willing to buy her hand in marriage by providing funds to your family to show my sincerity.” Vincent stated, surprising Leonis to the point of barely blinking his eyes.

Vincent placed his hand around Lilith’s waist and pulled her onto him while adding, “This will not be another scam marriage with blackmail afterward. I genuinely want Lilith to be happy now that I consider her as a part of my family.”

Vincent looked at Leonis with a confident, serious gaze and announced his resolve, “If protecting Lilith means making enemies, then they should fear my resolve to pay them back.”

“One day. ” Vincent raised a wide, confident smirk and continued, “Their property might disappear in the blink of an eye if they mess we me, hehehe.”
