230 A hopeless struggle

Iris watched Vincent charging towards the monstrous bear, yearning for blood. She clasped her hand together and prayed for Vincent’s safety and victory.

One second felt like an eternity, but time never stopped. The two opposing forces rushed at each other without the slightest doubt to stop.

Shortly, Vincent and the alpha grizzly bear reached striking distance. A large pair of maws opened wide to bite Vincent to death.

Any sane person would try to evade such a deadly attack, but Overload Vincent kept running instead *Chomp* he was bitten from his left shoulder to his waist. However, Vincent never let out the faintest grunt. As if the bite was less than a mosquito bite.

Vincent growled like a wild beast and swung his right arm vertically. The fingers curled like claws and soon met with the hardened fur. The resistance of the fur was overwhelmed by Vincent’s sheer might.

Blood burst forth like a fountain, and the alpha grizzly bear whimpered. The fresh deep lacerations on its shoulder sent a rush of unbearable pain.

Vincent currently possesses triple the stats Overheat provides. Thus, all of Vincent’s stats apart from mana were higher than the alpha grizzly bear’s.

Vincent was almost twice as strong with extreme regeneration making him appear immortal for a few minutes duration of Overload.

The alpha grizzly bear panicked when the hardened fur was like a piece of leaf easily cut by a sharp claw. The shattered pride of never getting injured made it infuriated, but now the situation has changed.

.....

The anger turned into panic as the ultimate trump card of invulnerability was overwhelmed. Harden became useless against the predator before it.

The alpha grizzly bear grunted with a vicious, contorted expression and applied more force to kill Vincent. However, the plan became a painful double-edged sword.

While the maws remained clamped in Vincent’s body, the boiling mutated blood leaked in its mouth. Vincent’s presence alone was already hot as a summer heatwave, yet now a boiling substance was scalding its mouth, throat, and insides after every gulp.

The alpha grizzly bear couldn’t resist any longer and started waving its head. It wanted to make some distance between them by tossing Vincent away.

Vincent, however, wasn’t going to let go so easily. He viciously swung his arm and dug his fingers deep in the bleeding shoulder. Vincent was intent to remain stuck until the strongest survived.

Vincent then furiously waved the other hand inside the alpha grizzly bear’s mouth with his fingers curled. New cuts opened, and each cut felt agonizing as the boiling blood seeped in the fresh wounds.

Vincent later followed by brutally biting the bear’s nose. Vincent was like a wild beast that didn’t want to let go of his prey no matter what or who was trying to force him to let go.

After a painful struggle, the alpha grizzly bear managed to toss Vincent away. Vincent slammed against the wall, but he didn’t fall. His fingers dug deep in the wall and held his body straight.

The alpha grizzly bear whimpered in pain, and the possibility to use Earth Cannon was destroyed along its burning throat. Even breathing started to feel challenging now.

The alpha grizzly bear grunted and used the last remaining spell.

Harden became useless under the might of Overload Vincent.

Earth Cannon couldn’t be used anymore as it usually places a slight strain in the throat, yet now it provides excruciating pain.

Earth Spike is the last usable spell in its arsenal, and the Vincent was currently attached on the wall. It seemed Vincent was waiting until the deep teeth wounds on his upper body closed.

It was the best situation for a free hit. The alpha grizzly bear took the opportunity, and *Splatter* a wide sharp spike of earth pierced Vincent’s chest.

“No!” Iris shouted as her tearing eyes watched Vincent’s body hanging on a spike. Mutated blood profusely rained like a boiling waterfall and produced vapor from the evaporating mutated blood.

“Don’t die!” Iris thought Vincent was going to die because no one with such a large hole in their upper body could survive. Such a deadly injury should kill a person in less than a second after most of the vital organs receive irreparable damage.

*Roar!* Overload Vincent let out a loud roar. He grabbed the end of the spike and clenched his hands. *Crack, thud* The earth spike quickly shattered under his sheer might. He fell to the ground.

Vincent growled like a vicious beast while slowly rising up. He menacingly glared at the alpha grizzly bear and punched the spike out of his body without care.

A gust of green steam rushed out and covered his body from waist up. However, even if Overload Vincent was half-hidden in the green steam, his radiating emerald soul-piercing eyes remained visible.

*Haa~* Vincent exhaled a puff of steam and slammed his foot on the ground causing a small cobweb crack in the ground. It appeared he was starting to get annoyed.

Vincent suddenly stopped. A wave of killing intent far potent than before burst out of his body. The alpha grizzly bear flinched, and even if Iris was resistant to Vincent’s suffocating intent, her body shivered in terror.

The goblins above ground could barely resist the pressure of dread. However, the intensity increased and made each one of the goblins feel like suffocating now.

One by one, The goblins started to faint. Iris’s father tried his best, but he fainted and fell on his back.

Vincent cracked his neck, and a vicious grin raised on his face. He wasn’t suppressed by the constant need to regenerate from the Soul Power conversion any more.

Vincent became unchained and unrestrained. He could now use all his power without any hindrance.

Vincent started running alongside the wall. The force he placed on his every step broke the ground. After Vincent had built enough momentum, he leaped forward.

As if the gravity pull changed, he started running on the wall. Vincent was running so fast with his unrestrained speed and power that the alpha grizzly bear had to raise on its hind legs and prepare to guard.

Iris didn’t know what happened to Vincent after his upper body was almost healed. Iris saw Vincent run a few rounds along the walls of the crater. Additionally, she started to feel that his speed was increasing every time Vincent passed by her.

The alpha grizzly bear started to worry. Vincent seemed unstoppable, and the unpredictability made him more dangerous than he already was.

An earth spike extended from the wall, but Vincent was faster. After Vincent wall sprinted another round and arrived in front of it, he used the large earth spike as a jumping platform.

Vincent shot from the wall like a projectile and swung his hand with his fingers curled into claws *Slash* blood oozed from the alpha grizzly bear’s shoulder after Vincent left a deep laceration.

The alpha grizzly bear turned its head and raised an earth spike to kill Vincent, yet he wasn’t there. *Thud, thud, thud... Slash!* Vincent leaped again and swung his curled finger claws once again.

*Growl!* The alpha grizzly bear swung its paws, but Vincent wasn’t there. Vincent vanished from its sights once again. It appeared Overload Vincent felt an adrenaline rush and had the urge to run on the wall as if it was the ground.

The alpha grizzly bear understood its status changed from predator to prey. With no possibility to fight back, the survival instincts to preserve one’s life kicked in. The alpha grizzly bear noticed Iris and decided to cause a distraction.

An earth spike protruded from the edge of the crater until its foundation became unstable and started to crack. The large earth spike above Iris’s position started falling on her.

“No!” Iris shouted. Her body was still trembling from the fear Vincent was emitting, and her legs were numb. Iris couldn’t escape the large falling spike.

Vincent noticed one of his retainers in danger. His face contorted, full of vicious anger and hate. He slammed his foot and shot like a bullet towards the falling spike.

Vincent grabbed the spike and slammed with it against the wall. As the large spike slid down and touched the ground, the spike tilted. Vincent and the spike started falling on Iris.

*Thud* Vincent’s feet slammed beside Iris, and he held the spike from falling on her. Vincent looked down and saw Iris trembling in fear. Then he heard the words, “It’s ok if I die. Please don’t die because of me.”

Vincent raised his gaze, loudly roared, and tightened his grip, digging this fingers deep into the earth spike. Vincent started closing his arms, and *Crackle* the earth spike began to break under his might.

It seemed Vincent understood Iris’s words and became enraged. His fingers started to glow one after the other, and in the blink of an eye, the large earth spike became riddled with deep cracks. Momentarily, it crumbled like a large clunk of old dry earth.

*Grrr* Vincent turned around and faced the alpha grizzly. His face contorted with hatred and rage. *Haa~* Vincent exhaled *Thud* he sprang forward with a bloodshot murderous glare.

The alpha grizzly bear flinched the moment it felt as if its entire being was about to get devoured. The monstrous bear trembled, yet it had to act.

The blurry human sprinting like a rabid wild beast and steaming like a steam train from his mouth closed the distance between them in mere seconds.
