Chapter 1221: Evil Demonic Avatar

This demonic sword was one of the ten ominous weapons during Time Immemorial. Several female saints were rumored to be dominated by its power so all feared its name - Nefarious.

It was severed into three pieces by Terra Grand Saint. This was one piece being pierced into Phoenix Goddess’ forehead.

“Nefarious!” The intent of the phoenix queen roared, causing the blade to back off.

“I will suppress you too, Phoenix Queen!” Feiyun channeled saint energy into the sword.

“This broken blade is nothing!” The intent was unyielding and the goddess’ soul was just as strong.

The two materialized into form and attacked the sword. Alas, they found it absorbing their power.

“Buzz.” The light of the sword became increasingly demonic and bright. An ancient soul seemed to be awakening.

Their powers are delicious, drain them dry and suppress their soul, turn them into your slaves... Feiyun heard an old voice in his head.

“Who are you?” He asked.

Terra thought he had destroyed me but I am back now, all will prostrate before me...

“Are you the serpent king or the sword’s spirit?” He asked again.

All the same, I want their soul and power for a full awakening.

The sword vibrated as evil runes appeared on the surface. The absorbing process continued while it let out hums of joy.

Far away in another part of the continent were ruins filled with debris and bricks. A chasm formed and spread rapidly, allowing a ray to escape. Within the ray was a broken blade, flying straight for the entrance.

The seal had weakened and it answered the call of Nefarious’ spirit. It didn’t take long for it to reach Inferno Mountain.

“Boom!” It joined the other piece and became longer, once again pushing against the goddess’ forehead.

Its demonic energy was insane on top of having a soul-suppressing affinity.

“Looks like the evil spirit is awakened, another fusion.” Although the queen’s seal only had one-tenth power, she mustered enough power to send the sword back again straight for Feiyun’s heart.

“Pluff!” He sensed two powers fighting within him - the sword and the queen.

The latter infiltrated the blade, intending to destroy the newly-born spirit. Feiyun felt his evil and demonic affinities being absorbed by the sword’s spirit.

With them gone, his eyes became lucid and his humanity returned.

‘That was close, the beast affinity almost got me. Thankfully, the sword is absorbing enough evil affinities for me to return. Maybe this is a good opportunity, if I can send them to the sword, I won’t have to worry about being taken over later.’

He closed his eyes and conjured his evil and demonic affinities together - forming an evil demonic avatar.

It entered the sword and saw a fight between the queen and a serpent, destroying the internal dimension with their saint-like power.

Alas, the queen was only a seal and had limited power, eventually falling behind. On the other hand, since Feiyun had used the rest of his affinities to create the avatar, the sword spirit lost this source of power. It became weaker at a faster rate than the queen since it had just awakened and was unstable.

The new avatar didn’t join the fight and observed until both combatants became feeble enough. It then attacked the sword spirit, sending it flying and rolling on the ground.

“How dare you, junior!” The spirit roared.

“This is the end of you.” The avatar grabbed the jaws of the serpent and tore it into two halves before refining it.

It became stronger afterward and stared at the queen: “Soaring Phoenix Queen, will you surrender or struggle needlessly?”

“You are only an avatar forcefully removed by Feng Feiyun, you cannot even leave this sword.” The weakened queen said.

“I am Feng Feiyun, no one can stop me if I wish to leave.” The avatar said.

Powerful cultivators could separate things from themselves including evil thoughts. These things would in turn materialize into sentient avatars.

“You are abandoned by the original, nothing more.” The queen sneered.

“We’ll see about that!” The avatar flew upward, wanting to leave the sword.

Meanwhile, Feiyun meditated on a boulder with his hair fluttering to the wind, looking like a handsome sword immortal. His pupils were black again. He had three Trinity Cauldrons working to refine Nefarious. It suddenly shook violently as the avatar tried to escape.

“From now on, you will be the spirit of Nefarious.” A golden light from Feiyun’s forehead struck the avatar, sending it back inside.

“True Form, you would sever yourself?!” The avatar roared.

“This is just a part of cultivation, getting rid of negative emotions and affinities. The heart needs to be polished. The goddess was right, there is no absolute freedom in this world. That will only bring destruction.” He said.

“Do you think you won’t have evil thoughts after removing me?” The avatar barked back.

“Of course not, I am not Buddha and cannot reach a state of zero desires. The demon and evil affinities have been suppressed all this time so with them gone, I am back to being myself. Don’t worry about me, I know how to live well.” Feiyun laughed.

“Damn you!” The avatar tried to escape again to no avail.

“True Form, don’t blame me for this, you won’t become a saint without my permission. This isn’t enough to separate our karma!” It roared again.

“What are you going to do?” Feiyun asked.

“I will add to our karma, I shall enslave and refine the intent of this phoenix queen, her true form will be affected as well so she’ll come and find you. Haha, a phoenix saint, how are you going to deal with her?” The avatar laughed.

Next came strange sounds from the intent of the phoenix queen inside Nefarious.

Feiyun noticed the goddess coming near so he sent the sword back to the three cauldrons for refinement.

‘This is bad, my evil demonic avatar is now the spirit of Nefarious, if it refines the queen’s intent, then I’ll be responsible for it. How am I going to deal with the wrath of a saint?’ He pondered the consequences.
