Sorcerer’s Handbook

Chapter 121: Silver Blessing

“Hmm?”

Leoni turned around, looking back at the world that was gradually turning into shades of black and white.

“Did something fall down… or is this a special phenomenon of the Virtual Realm?”

It was her first day on the Time Continent, and the Orange Dancer was still in the unfamiliar probing stage of her journey, where everything seemed both strange and unique. However, even so, she knew she had to start running fast.

Otherwise, ‘time’ would catch up to her.

“I can’t believe I didn’t die from the fall…”

Lying on the grass, Ashe sat up, shaking his head and feeling that his sense of balance hadn’t yet adjusted.

When they plunged into the golden sea, both lost their sense of direction, and the world seemed to toss and turn like a dice cup, making it impossible to maintain flight. They could only follow the pull of the Virtual Realm’s gravity, allowing themselves to fall straight down.

Ashe thought this time he was going to die, after all the bold words he had spoken, only to fall back into the Sea of Knowledge. But feeling the grass beneath him, he knew he had at least saved face.

“Observer, look.”

Upon hearing this, Ashe lifted his head and saw a sight that could almost rival the Golden Fish Scale.

Golden rain was falling to the sky.

They were in a dense forest, surrounded by ancient trees that must have been centuries old, with lush foliage that blocked out the sun. Even so, Ashe could still see far in the distance a white pillar that pierced the heavens. Around the Area of the pillar, countless drops of golden rain rose from the ground upwards into the sky.

He couldn’t help but mutter, “Is this the world of the mighty?”

“That’s the Time Golden Rain, similar to the Knowledge White Mist of the Sea of Knowledge,” Sonya explained. “If we want to absorb the golden arcane energy to condense our second virtual wing, we must follow the steps of bull feet and receive the baptism of the golden rain.”

“Bull feet?”

“That White Pillar is the bull feet. Look closely, doesn’t it seem to be moving?”

Ashe focused and indeed found that the White Pillar was moving forward, though by a seemingly small margin. However, this ‘small margin’ was probably an illusion given that he could see the White Pillar moving from several kilometers away; its actual speed might be as fast as tens of meters per second.

“Why do they call it bull feet?”

“Because it actually is bull feet. In the far distance out of your sight, there are three other bull feet. These four bull feet belong to the Virtual Realm Behemoth known as ‘Bull’ that walks across the Time Continent.”

Sonya explained, “The ‘Bull’ has many titles: the Weaver of Fate, the Ox of the Heavenly Chariot, the Time Walker… But generally, it’s referred to as the White Bull.”

“The traces the White Bull plows on the ground turn into the River of Flowing Gold, whose waters have the power to affect time. The flora and fauna nourished by the River of Flowing Gold grow at an unimaginably rapid pace, and these in turn produce the Time Golden Rain that falls toward the sky.”

She touched the foxtail grass next to her, “If we had arrived earlier, we too would be bathing in the golden rain right now.”

“River of Flowing Gold, Time Golden Rain, White Bull…” Ashe gazed at the sky covered in golden rain, “Is this the Time Continent?”

Drip.

Suddenly, they both heard a clear sound of a water droplet. Immediately after, the Silver Wings uncontrollably emerged, radiating a dazzling silver brilliance!

“Silver blessing!” Sonya exclaimed with joy, sinking into the sensation of the new power she had acquired, while Ashe opted to open Operator Management.

“Death Maniac Swordswoman”

“Human Race   Female   18 years old”

“Bond Level: 3 (50% Experience Sharing)”

“Bond Resonance   Greediness: When acting together, there is a chance to obtain better spoils of battle.”

“Occupation: Soulbreak Silver Sorcerer”

“Occupational Traits: Each effective attack restores 0.5% of maximum arcane energy”

“Silver Blessing – Carnival/Tyranny: Each time an enemy is defeated (including but not limited to Sorcerer Projections, Knowledge Creatures, monsters, sorcerers, construct beings, etc.), there is an increase in critical hit rate and critical damage. Depending on the Operator’s development path, different traits can be triggered.”

“Additional Blessing Trait – Carnival: The Swordswoman needs only the joy of victory to feel fulfilled, maintaining respect and compassion for her enemies. Triggering this path activates the ‘Carnival’ effect, granting a bonus to critical damage. The better the mood, the higher the boost, with a maximum of 250% critical damage.”

“Additional Curse Trait – Tyranny: The Swordswoman can only quench her inner thirst through death and wails, striving to bestow despair upon the disrespectful. Triggering this path activates the ‘Tyranny’ effect, granting a bonus to critical hit rate. The worse the mood, the higher the boost, with a maximum of 100% critical hit rate.”

“Knowledge Curse: Whirlpool Secret Poison, Eviction Secret Poison, Golden Fish Secret Poison”

“It feels like a Growth-type Blessing…”

After reflecting for a moment, Sonya mused, “Because blessings are the most personal secrets of a sorcerer, schools don’t have detailed records of them, and developing a blessing requires the sorcerer to explore on their own… Do you know what my blessing specifically is?”

Ashe glanced at her: “Your blessing is named ‘Carnival’; the more enemies you defeat, the higher your critical hit rate and critical damage.”

While it sounded quite marvelous, ‘critical hit rate’ and ‘critical damage’ were not uncommon for sorcerers. Simply put, it’s like when a sorcerer is channeling their spirit, and the spirit suddenly has a moment of conscience and decides to work overtime—that’s what’s known as a ‘critical hit.’

The critical hit rate represents the frequency of the spirit’s overtime, and critical damage represents the efficiency of the spirit’s work during that overtime. In other words, this blessing could be succinctly described as ‘the more hostile enterprises the Swordswoman company absorbs, the more the exploitation efficiency of the internal spirit employees increases.’

Sonya expressed her dissatisfaction, “Carnival? Such an odd name. I am a proper lady of Swordsmanship. Why does this have anything to do with ‘Carnival’?”

“It might be a slight misalignment in the Virtual Realm’s perception of you,” Ashe said with a guilty conscience. “You’re so demure, adorable, gentle, kind, and approachable. Even I think the Silver blessing the Virtual Realm has granted you doesn’t quite suit your persona.”

Sonya blushed at his words, “I’m not that great… Still, this Growth-type Blessing isn’t too bad. If I develop it properly, it should be very helpful for Exploration in the Virtual Realm.”

Ashe sighed in relief internally. The Swordswoman’s Silver blessing had two developmental paths: ‘Carnival’ and ‘Tyranny.’ Without a doubt, Ashe hoped the Swordswoman would follow the ‘Carnival’ path, as ‘Tyranny’ seemed to be a path full of negative energy.

This wasn’t like playing an idle mobile game with auto-battle features. Ashe was sure he would have to accompany the Swordswoman in her nightly serenades (Exploration in the Virtual Realm). If the Swordswoman was constantly exuding negative energy, engaging in battles where blood and flesh flew, Ashe couldn’t hope to be in good spirits either.

But guiding her down this developmental path wasn’t as simple as making a selection in a game; it required consistent daily guidance, akin to raising a daughter. Ashe was new to “fatherhood” and lacked experience, so the plan was to start by instilling the values of truth, kindness, and beauty, to prevent her from turning dark.

Furthermore, the Swordswoman’s Bond Level had risen to Level 3, with the Experience Sharing rate increasing to 50%.

Upon realizing this, Ashe suddenly pondered a question: Did Bond Level refer to the Swordswoman’s fondness for him, his fondness for the Swordswoman, or was it their mutual affection?

Come to think of it, why had he almost instinctively decided on the ‘Carnival’ path for the Swordswoman without any hesitation?

The ‘Tyranny’ path could also be quite beneficial, and maintaining a poor mood seemed much simpler than maintaining a good one. Yet, he hadn’t considered this option for even a second…
