"It's simple actually, We will do it old school. You draw them out and we will take over from there. You don't have to worry, my men are well trained. No trace would be left behind."
The man continued rubbing his fingers on his ring as he checked the date.
"And regarding the time, I think the sooner the better. Even tomorrow would be completely fine for us. We had been preparing for this for months. Trust me no mistakes would be made. We don't need any time."
*Sigh*
'This is bad.' Colt sneered.
How was he going to figure out if the deal was profitable for him if he wasn't even given the time to think? It seemed that the man was trying to strike the iron when it was hot, not letting go of any chances. Colt was weak at the moment both mentally and physically. Who would let go of such a devil given chance?
But could Colt back down so easily? He had messed up once. He doesn't want it to happen again.
Colt shook his head.
"Look, here me out what I have to say. Even if you are prepared this is certainly not the right time for us to make a move. We have just arrived. Drawing them out is not as easy as it looks like. But it won't be same if you give them some time to hold onto," Colt claimed as his lips arched into a smile.
A sinister aura compared his entirety or so was what he wanted the man to believe.
"They are competing against each other, aren't they? Let the seeds of discord be sown in their hearts. Let them lose and bear grudges against each other. Let them cheat against each other. When the air around them is truly heated up enough to make the metal red, that is when it would be the right time for us to strike! Ha Ha"
Colt laughed excitedly as he slammed the table with his fists. It was all a means for him to buy a bit more time. Hopefully there shouldn't be much problem in making the man believe in him.
The man twisted his lips causing Colt to raise his brows.
"Aren't you the same? How are you any different? Won't it be harder for you to draw them out once they start distrusting you."
Colt couldn't help but nod. The man did have a point but it was no longer relevant to the current him.
'He is right. I am the same as them but…'
The solution to the problem was an easy one. And that was what Colt was going to follow till the end. It would deprive him of the benefits of the newbie camp but so be it. At least its much better than losing everything due to his naivety.
Colt shook his head.
"I won't be participating this year. I won't be competing."
After what happened there was little chance that any of the second gen and the newbies would have enough faith in him to follow him. It was literally a disaster.
"But, before I return back to my guild… I would be killing Klautz!" the boy glared at the man making him fidget under his gaze.
Veins popped up on his forehead as his eyes turned red. Was it the anger that he had cultivated against the earthling? Only he knew.
"So you better not lay his hands on him. He is mine."
"I see, that's a pity. Here I was thinking that I could use him too"
The man nodded.
Colt's lips arched into a smile on the man's compliance.
But contrary to one's expectation he wasn't smiling because the man had left Klautz for him. He was smiling be cause he had never thought that his little outburst that was filled with falsehood would be able to trick the man. But it seemed like it did work!
It was true that the reason for his state was because of Klautz. It was true that he despised and would kill him given the chance. But would he be able to?
'I am running against time,' his heart was engulfed with despair.
Klautz could be taken care of later.
At the moment, he could not be bothered by Klautz who was but an earthling. For now, all he could think about was saving whatever he could save, protecting what ever was dear to him, before the news of his losing to a newbie reaches his guild's ears. If he couldn't make a move before that he would be finished.
So what was his earlier outburst for? It was simply a smart move to give the man some leverage on him.
'I want him to believe that he can control me as long as he uses Klautz as a card.'
After all, the second gen had quite a bad reputation to be driven by their hot blood alone. Being spoon fed throughout their lives, these naive young masters would stop at nothing until their wishes are fulfilled and they get to beat the shit out of those they lie their eyes upon.
Time and time again such immature behavior was used by many to leverage against them and use them to the leverager's benefits. After all, hell was that kind of place. No one gave shit about others.
But among such young masters exceptions also exist. Benton was one of them and Colt was the same. In fact, if Benton was the genius then Colt was the hard worker. Had they not been what they were, they would have never been able to lead their generation either.
*sigh*
But all of his hard work so far was being threatened to crush by a single misfortune. Everything he had built so far would be eating dust if he doesn't do something soon about it.
