Benton was clearly a narrow minded 'native fanatic'.Klautz had never met Benton in his previous life… he had never crossed paths. But all the records and testimonials Klautz had received pointed to the exact same thing.
Benton's revolution had most of the powerful groups under his belt. The victory was all but assured. Hell had become even a harsher place for the earth borns who were threatened to either shut down their mouth and accept the terms of 'depravity' or get annihilated. Hell had become a much harsher place for them than it already was.
Yet Benton failed and quite miserably at that.
"It was the ninjas indeed."
Klautz smiled seemingly proud of one thing the ninjas had done.
In hell, the earth borns came from the 'portals' and the 'natives came from the 'wombs'. There should have been no disparity came brought about the friction. The ideologies of the earth borns being shaped by the earth while the ideologies of the natives were being shaped by hell itself!
And the toughest part was, that as long as the earth borns existed in hell, the natives were bound to exist! It was like wherever there is light a shadow is bound to exist as well.
But, there was one group of individuals that always existed in hell since the very beginning. Yet even after being a faction of such a long history, they had no second gens among them. It was just one large group of earth borns.
It was the ninjas.
The ninjas who had never meddled with any political affairs or any of the race discrimination immediately became active. The ninjas who were living the lives of tools suddenly had the sparks of unity burning in their hearts. And this time the ones controlling the village didn't stop it unlike usual.
The ninjas who had already been in the shadows suddenly became active as they left no stone unturned to destroy the native faction. It wasn't a matter of 'money' or 'glory' or 'missions' anymore. Every ninja had done everything in his power to destroy their enemies.
After all, with the earth borns being forced into depravity wouldn't that mean that their village would be destroyed as well? With no way for the ninjas to get resources, not only their business but also their village would get destroyed. They would all die of hunger and thirst.
"That was one great thing, unlike others.."
It was indeed an event that was enough to bring tears of joy in Klautz's eyes.
But even with the strength of both Mizukigakure and Kishiogakure didn't equate to the number of the 'native faction'. But since when have the ninjas fought on the battle front with fair means? The whole village had gone out of control. There was no means to control them any more as assassinations were being done indiscriminately.
It was utter chaos.
It was like a bull that had always been put on a leash had suddenly broken free destroying everything that came in its way.
The fear of the ninjas had gripped every one's hearts. It was at that moment that they were acquainted with the predator that was sleeping amongst them only occasionally showing their fangs.
In broad daylight, they cussed the ninjas for being underhanded and what not. But at night the fear of death didn't allow them to sleep. It was but a small village but it had become their worst night mare.
Soon enough, the second gens who had joined the faction due to profits alone began to drop out. Having no purpose for the cause they were the ones quick to quit. The 'native fanatics' still stayed behind. But the native faction was severely weakened.
Soon enough, all the leaders of the faction had been killed. The adult Benton had no choice but to surrender to the old fogies accepting his defeat. He was sentenced to life imprisonment being considerate of his position but the very next day his dead body was found in his cell.
No one had a clue. But everyone believed that it was the ninjas doing.
"Come to think of it, I don't know either."
Klautz shook his head.
The ninjas might have united for a common goal but that didn't mean they worked together. Each and every one of them worked in solitude and was prepared to lay down his life for a common goal.
Years of working alone and untrust in one's own kin wasn't easy to shrug off just because both sides had a common goal.
As such Klautz who was a ninja himself had no clue about who killed who. They just knew that it was a ninja who killed Benton or so was what they thought, but other than that they had no idea about the assassin.
Thus a miracle that was unprecedented in the history of both hell and earth was seen. A group of individuals completely ununited and unaware of each other's actions had bagged home an impossible victory.
Indeed such a feat was only possible to be done by the ninja villages.
Klautz chuckled.
"Indeed, that was one of a thing"
Klautz nodded.
But soon he found himself lost in thought as he reassessed the whole situation from the perspective of his mature self. Years of experience wasn't something to be scoffed at.
"When I look back at it, he had done everything right. He had left no stones unturned. He had done all the proper calculations and estimations and only started a revolt when he was absolutely sure that the strength of the second gens surpassed those of the earth borns considering that he hated the newbies from a young age. He wouldn't have been so successful in his goal otherwise. But he had missed out on one potential enemy."
Klautz held onto his chin. But he soon shook his head after 'reassessed' his 'reassessed' conclusions.
