Ye Tianxin coaxed the reluctant Li Qingcang with a clingy tone. “I miss you too, Brother Li. I’ll see you tonight.”
She trotted into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building after. “What a callous little sweetie,” Li Qingcang sneered softly. He yearned for her, but she was preoccupied with work.
When Ye Tianxin entered her workplace, she realized that it had changed from the day before. Everything that needed to be added had already been done, and Director Chen had even left her fresh flowers on her desk the day before.
“Ms. Ye, I’m your secretary Fang Nan.”
Ye Tianxin was older than Fang Nan. Juniors would be classified according to their age if they joined the ministry by right. Despite her youth, Ye Tianxin had an amazing position, and thus Fang Nan had no option but to address her as “Ms. Ye.”
“Secretary Fang, you can just call me Tianxin.”
Fang Nan did not hesitate and simply followed suit. “Tianxin, if there’s anything you need, feel free to let me know, and I will help with your daily affairs.”
Ye Tianxin nodded in reply. “Okay.”
Fang Nan pointed to the documents on the table and said to Ye Tianxin, “Tianxin, these are the documents you will need to look through.”
Ye Tianxin glanced at the thick pile of documents on the table and began studying them.[1]
Ye Tianxin had to be thoroughly aware of all the latest news by heart. Otherwise, if a reporter were to ask a question and Ye Tianxin was not able to answer it, she would end up embarrassing her country, Empire, and its Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ye Tianxin, fortunately, had a photographic memory. Fang Nan couldn’t help but click her tongue when she noticed how quickly Ye Tianxin was going through the information. She brewed a cup of herbal tea for Ye Tianxin and delivered it to her.
“Tianxin, don’t forget to move around a little in between your reading.”
Ye Tianxin took the thermal cup from Fang Nan and gently took a sip of the herbal tea.
The herbal tea that Ye Tianxin drank was a special brew prepared by Hua Wuxia to suit Ye Tianxin’s physical health. It had a faint bitterness followed by a mildly sweet aftertaste.
“Tianxin, don’t overwork yourself.”
“I won’t.”
Fang Nan was not exactly close to Ye Tianxin, so she left her to it.
Ye Tianxin got up and walked up to the large glass windows that ran the length of the room from floor to ceiling. She could see the Royal Park from afar because the weather in the capital was quite good today. Her back was aching from sitting for so long.
Ye Tianxin kept perusing the materials after drinking half of her herbal tea. Fang Nan invited Ye Tianxin to lunch in the ministry’s cafeteria before she realized it was nearly noon.
As soon as the two entered the cafeteria, a female employee approached Ye Tianxin and gave her an insolent look.
“You must be Ye Tianxin, the one who caused Xiaoxiao to be transferred away from the News Division, I assume.”
Ye Tianxin glanced at the female employee’s company tag. “Didn’t Bai Xiaoxiao tell you why she was transferred away?”
Ye Tianxin had not expected that Bai Xiaoxiao would still be stirring up trouble after being transferred away from the News Division, and she certainly did not expect to witness the scene of a knight in shining armor charging in to rescue the damsel in distress yesterday. On top of that, there was now this woman, who was the best friend, trying to stab her in the face on behalf of Bai Xiaoxiao.
[1] If you had thought that all the spokesperson needed to do was stand in front of the stage and answer questions from reporters from all over the world, then you, my friend, are sorely mistaken. No one knows what kind of questions a reporter could ask, which is why a spokesperson has to be well-versed in all areas. News, current events, celebrity gossip, military, agricultural, contemporary technology, medical technology, and everything in between are all covered.
