Chapter 709 The Mysterious Woman With The Amulet
The woman's eyes were a pale lake-white, and her pale gray skin was as smooth as moonstone.
Her facial features had a smoldering charm, and her hourglass-shaped body was dazzling to captivate any soul.
Her hair was as white as fresh snow, and it caressed her pinched-in cheekbones, though they were in a roughed-up state, probably because she might have resisted. Her pitch-black lips were gleaming under the subtle light entering through the cage.
Even though her appearance was youthful, she possessed a mature charm, especially her curvaceous figure.
But what stood out from her appearance was the royal charm that carried over to her bearings as well.
And as if to insult her beauty, dirt and mud were smearing her figure, including her face, hiding some of her sharp features. She was wearing crude clothes that had an unrefined style. Yet it made her have an amorous charm, especially since her beautiful neck and her prominent collar bones were visible while giving a glimpse of her tempting cleavage.
cO,m Damien had never seen such a unique and ravishing beauty as her. But he collected his thoughts together as he told himself that this woman was not exactly human but a human-like being that feasts on real humans.
And since he had already deduced that the nethereal beasts were the ones lording over others as far as he had seen, he also deduced that they must have captured her as a slave just like others.
However, he couldn't understand why she was staring at him without even blinking her eyes. Was she sizing him up to taste his flesh or something? Damien could only guess, but he had no plans to become anybody's meal.
"Luna, you can remove the seal on my ethereal core, right?" Damien asked confidently.
"It is but child's play. But be careful…It seems as if that woman on the other side might be very interested in you, hehe," Luna giggled as she removed the seal that suppressed Damien's cultivation.
"She is simply trying to annoy you, Master. It is not true, hmph," Kalypso chimed in, feeling piqued that Luna was joking about an unknown woman and her Master in such a situation. Still, she also couldn't help but knit her brows seeing how the woman on the other side still was staring at Damien with a blank expression.
No matter what the reason was, Kalypso was sharpening her teeth to make sure to bite any woman that dared to harass her Master.
"Oh, please. I don't have time to entertain your jokes now, Luna," Damien felt relieved upon feeling his ethereal core being able to spread ethereal energy through his body and kept a wary eye on his surroundings to make sure nobody was observing him closely.
Damien felt that these beastmen wouldn't be staying in the middle of a valley but must have homes located in another place. So he thought that they all must be returning home at some point and decided to wait for all of them to leave before escaping.
He could get out of the cage right now, but it would be in vain since he would just get caught again, and they might use even more powerful restraints on him other than simply sealing his cultivation.
He grabbed the bars of the cage to see if he could break it, but to his dismay, he realized that this cage seemed to have been made with steel strong enough to hold him in even if his cultivation was unsealed. Of course, he might be able to barely break himself out but not without using his full power, which might draw attention.
He looked around in a frustrated manner, trying to think of his options, but his gaze froze when his gaze accidentally landed on the mysterious woman on the other side. With a confused look, Damien saw her taking out a necklace. No…not a necklace but an amulet.
The amulet was as black as night and had strange rune markings in the form of circles on its front side. But other than that, it didn't seem special and looked as ordinary as any other ornament.
And while still staring at him, she tied the amulet around her neck and caressed it gently. But then she removed it and kept it away.
"Eh…" Damien felt puzzled, but one thing he was almost certain of was that the amulet he saw on her looked eerily similar to the one he had since he was born!
After making sure nobody else was watching him, he quickly summoned the black amulet in his soul space which he had kept for safekeeping. He used to always have it around his neck when he first came to this world.
And even if he wasn't really keen on finding who his parents were, especially since he was used to being abandoned and being an orphan, he still kept the black amulet inside his soul space for safekeeping.
It was as if somewhere inside his heart, he was still curious about his origins. He was unable to find out his origins in his past life, but in this life, the amulet was the only clue he had.
As if to make certain of something, he tied the amulet around his neck just like she did before. And the moment she saw the amulet on his neck, a subtle gasp escaped her mouth as she placed her hand on her lips.
Her previously blank expression finally had a change as her expression turned into one of shock and confusion.
Her eyes were quivering as if she was seeing something she couldn't believe.
Damien didn't know why but he was feeling a strange sensation in his chest after seeing her react like this.
From the memories he had from before he woke up in this world, he did hear from his dying stepfather that this amulet was given to him by a mysterious yet powerful woman. But he never mentioned the woman's appearance being strange or anything, especially not having skin that was a pale gray.
So he felt that this woman couldn't be his mother, yet at the same time, he felt as if those eyes she was staring at him with felt nostalgic. He surely had never seen her in his life as far as he remembered, but the way she was looking at him was making him feel some things he never expected.
And to his surprise, he saw the woman grabbing the bars of the cage, and with just a simple push, it fell off.
