The girl looked away for a moment without responding the question.

Xavier leaned in further with a glare before repeating his question.

"Did you not hear me? I asked you what the reward was."

"...An ancient relic... And a few gallons of blood." She muttered.

Xavier raised his brows in confusion.

'Ancient relic... Where have I heard that before?'

[Main Quest: Reach Level 10.]

[Rewards:]

[Ancient Relic]

[Coins]

A quest notification screen popped up beside her reminding Xavier of where he'd heard it.

"Ancient relic, what is that?"

"Powerful objects of the past said to contain unimaginable powers..."

Xavier closed his eyes to envision one of them. They definitely seemed useful.

'I wonder how a system will provide me one...' He thought to himself.

"Um... Are you... Are you going to kill me...?" She asked while shivering in fear.

Without a change in his expression, Xavier stared her right in the eye and responded.

"Yeah, I will."

Her bones were filled with dread at his stoic expression. Her heart which had been pounding sunk and her eyes filled with tears which slowly streamed down their sides.

"Can you... Please spare me..." She asked staring him right in the eye as tears streamed down her face.

Her look was determined showing that she still wanted to live.

Unfortunately for her, Xavier didn't give a damn.

"Don't you have any shame? Begging for your life despite trying to kill a depressed man?" Xavier asked with an annoyed look.

She didn't respond, instead looked away feeling too ashamed to stare him in the eye.

"Why should I let you live? Your friend's dead, isn't he? Why don't I sent you to him instead of leaving you alive and giving you the opportunity to take revenge on me?"

The girl wiped her tears with her arm before responding.

"He's not my friend, he's more specialised in assassinations and just happened to be taking this bounty at the same time as me."

"I still have things to do in my life, I won't try to take revenge, I doubt I'll be able to even if I did."

Xavier let out a sigh.

"There's no guarantee you won't. Besides you'd be much better to me dead than alive."

Killing her and devouring blood would make him stronger and also get rid of the threat of her smart ass planning revenge.

"I'd be more useful alive... In fact, I'll work for you."

"You don't have much knowledge or information of the Vampire world, do you? I have connections there and networks that allows me to track most movements, it's because of that, that I was able to find you."

"Also, you get stronger by consuming blood, don't you? Your speed and power increased after you drank the smiling ogre's blood. Getting stronger that fast after consuming blood is unheard of, you probably have some ability linked to it..."

"If it's blood you need, I can constantly provide you mine as long as you don't kill me. Won't have a long-term supply reap more benefits than a short term.

Xavier thought about it for a moment, the Redbloods were being chased and in hiding so it would be much harder for them to collect information.

What she said about the blood was also correct, killing her now would have given him a boost but looking at it from a long-term perspective, it would have been a waste.

'Not to mention how bright she is... She might honestly be useful.'

"So you're saying you'll become my personal blood bag that provides me with information?"

"And helps you." She added.

Xavier leaned in a bit further, to the point where there noses were almost touching. With a grin, his fangs were brought out into full view.

"This all sounds too good to be true. How do I know you won't betray me?" Xavier asked.

"I swear on it, even I wouldn't be crazy enough to try after witnessing you fight. And if it eases your worries, I'll stick to you so you'll be able to keep my movements in check."

Xavier stared at her right in her eyes while listening in to her heart beat.

Her eyes were unwavering but her heart was beating quite fast.

Usually, it would be a sign of lying but in her case, it was probably due to the adrenaline and fear of dying.

"Hmm... Let me have a bite while I think about it." Said Xavier as he grinned.

Hearing this, the girl nodded and without a hint of hesitation she tilted her head to the sides, exposing her slim necks sides.

Xavier let go of her neck and glanced at the strangle marks he'd caused before leaning in and going for the bite.

*Pierce*

"Nn~" She quietly squealed as his fangs penetrated her neck.

Shortly after, Xavier began to suck on her neck, gulping down the stream of blood which flowed into his mouth.

'I was right... Drinking blood directly tastes so much better than a blood orb...' He thought to himself as he relaxed.

Xavier's eyes widened as the notifications began to echo inside of his mind.

He instantly stopped sucking her blood and pulled away before staring at her and asking.

"You... You're a halfling too?"

[You have stopped consuming the blood of a Vampire Halfling Noble.]

'Just like the smiling ogre... Could they be related? Then that would mean she lied to me...'

"Yeah... That's right... How did you know...? Did my contacts come off?" She asked whilst panting.

"Contacts?" Xavier questioned.

She gave him a weak nod, before pointing at her left eye.

"That's a red contact lense made to resemble a Vampire's eye... I'm using it to hide the fact that I'm a halfling..."

She proceeded to explain the Vampire Halflings had one eye which was that of a vampire and one of a human. The human eye gave the fact that they were halflings away.

"Why hide the fact that you're a halfling?"

The girl made a bitter expression.
