Without caring about Liam's opinion, Olivia simply invited the eight women to join their group.
Whether the invitation was temporary or permanent didn't really matter, because Liam was displeased one way or another.
However, Olivia felt that she had to do something for them. She couldn't just abandon the poor eight women and leave them stranded in the forest. They had just lost everything they cared about. It was not easy to cope with that.
"I swear if–..." Liam said but he couldn't even finish his threat as Olivia intercepted.
"I already know what you are going to say, but please don't do it. They won't be a nuisance or deadweight for you. I will take care of them, and we will see what we are going to do with them once we reach the city," She hurriedly said, "If they're willing to fight, and in possession of useful Soultraits, you might even be thankful to have them by your side!"
Olivia tried her best to appease Liam who was glaring at her. That was not further difficult because Liam didn't really care what would happen to the eight women as long as they wouldn't obstruct him in any way.
In fact, Olivia's words were correct. It would be pretty useful to have more people with good Soultraits by their side. A Healing-type Soultrait, or a Soultrait that increased the strength of their allies…or a Soultrait similar to Rex's golden lightning bolt would be quite useful.
Felicia and Jennie already had decent Soultraits to help him find treasures and other things in the future. As for Olivia, her Soultrait was probably the least impressive currently. She could wield all types of weapons with high proficiency but that was already it.
Now that he thought about it, Liam looked over to the frightened women who were staring at him in horror.
It was quite obvious that they didn't think he was there to help them. But that was fine. He didn't really intend to help the women, in the first place. Their reaction was only fair.
Jennie took Liam's hesitation as a good sign. She gathered her courage and stepped forward, inching closer to him.
"They lost everything…their loved ones, their peaceful life, and even the hideout where they could feel safe after the world they knew collapsed…please…" Jennie pleaded, looking at Liam with puppy eyes and a slightly tilted head.
Liam stared at Jennie for a few seconds, sighed deeply, and waved his hands, motioning the girls to do whatever they wanted.
"Where is the other hunting group of the Silverheart Dwarves?" He asked, turning over to Felicia while ignoring the other women.
Jennie, understanding what had just happened, squealed out in joy and jumped toward Liam, hugging him tightly.
"Thanks. Thank you so much! You're the best!!"
Taken off-guard, Liam flinched as Jennie pressed her body against his. She hugged him tightly, which was something not even Felicia or Olivia would have expected to happen.
Liam merely looked at Jennie, not saying anything. He tilted his head, while his brain malfunctioned for a second or two. Jennie looked up after she realized what she had just done.
Her eyes met with the royal purple of Liam's eyes and she swallowed her saliva instinctively, noticing that the distance between them was basically non-existent.
The corners of her ears turned hot and their color changed to a bright red. She quickly let go of Liam and hurriedly retreated.
"I. I. I-...Sorry!!" She stammered, burying her face in her hands. Jennie felt dizzy all of a sudden, just to hear Felicia's voice ringing out next to her.
"Looks like someone chose to lay out her honey trap~" She teased Jennie, pinching her lightly at the waist.
Jennie squealed once again. She tried to tell Felicia that her comment was nonsense and that she should mind her words when Liam cleared his throat.
"Where is the other hunting group?"
Seeing the seriousness in Liam's expression, Felicia pouted.
"You're no fun, at all…" She grumbled to herself while Jennie sighed in relief.
Liam didn't seem to mind that she had hugged him.
But why did she feel a sting in her heart then? Wasn't it good that Liam didn't react to her hug?
However, somehow, it was also a little disappointing.
Liam didn't react to her hugging him…at all!
A tinge of disappointment flared in her eyes, but there was not much Jennie could do about it. For Liam, they were just dispensable goods that would be thrown away if they were of no use anymore.
At first, Jennie thought that she was fine with that, but the more she thought about it…the more she began to feel that it was unfair.
Felicia turned serious while Jennie was deep in thought.
Now that Felicia understood why Liam wanted to annihilate the Silverheart Dwarves as quickly as possible, she was more than willing to support him. She could tell that the Dwarves didn't think highly of humans.
They would use human women as a means to relieve their stress and accumulate Arcanium slaughtering the men, old humans, and children. There was nothing more to it.
Liam's earlier words had been nothing but the bitter truth.
'I should change my mindset toward all races…fairy tales are just that…fiction. Liam is more of a human than some humans…and the Dwarves act more like Devils than Liam will ever be!' Felicia thought.
With this thought imprinted into her mind, she used her Soultrait to determine the position of the other Silverheart Dwarven hunting group.
Meanwhile, Olivia used her Arcanium to purchase the tired women new clothes and a few potions. They were equipped with the crossbows of the Silverheart Dwarves after asking Liam if they could use them.
"As long as they don't aim at me, I am fine," Liam merely said before adding a warning, "I will kill you and these eight women the moment even a single crossbow bolt is fired at me. You are responsible for them, so you will be punished as well."
pαndα noνɐ1,сoМ It was obvious that Liam was serious. The frightened women swallowed their saliva while staring at him in fear, while Olivia nodded her head.
"I knew that you would say that. Everything will be fine!"
