"Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. I appreciate your invitation, but right now I can't join any guilds or organizations." Sylvia turned her face away.

"Ah, I see." Klaus nodded as if he understood, though the veins in his temples were actually throbbing. He didn't like someone interrupting him the most, but since he needed her, he tried to remain friendly as much as possible.

"So, what do you need from me? I might be able to help you in return. I'll also repay the hospital bill."

"You don't have to pay the bill. I just want you to fix this."

Klaus took out a worn-out pendant necklace from his pocket, and Sylvia squinted as she knew it was arcana.

"Fix this arcana, I mean, restore it to its normal form, with your talent, rewinding the time."

Sylvia frowned, doubt all over her face. "I've never repaired arcana before. I'm not sure I can do it."

"Please, try it," Klaus assured. He had gone this far just for this, and he could not accept rejection.

Sylvia pondered for a moment. "Alright, I'll give it a shot."

She held the [Eye of Laplace] carefully, She took a deep breath, concentrating focus in her mind. Her body glowed as her eyes closed, and mana engulfed her body.

Slowly, the rust and cracks on the [Eye of Laplace] disappeared, and the surface of the necklace turned into shiny yellow. Klaus smiled widely, he thought everything was going well.

However, he was wrong.

Sylvia began to sweat, her lips were pale, and she seemed to be in pain. Klaus realized something was off.

Suddenly, the room was distorted. The walls and floor began to undulate like waves in the ocean, and the objects around her began to change their shapes.

The arcana vibrated, showing a resistance reaction from the power of time manipulation.

"Arrg, I can't!" screamed Sylvia in pain.

"Hang in there. Keep your focus," Klaus exclaimed, biting his lip.

Unable to sit still, Klaus began to cast two spells simultaneously, [Recovery] and [Sealing]. He isolated the pendant's power was trying to creep out, and at the same time, he tried to recover her condition.

While Klaus suppressed the arcana power that was rebelling like a wild horse, Sylvia's pale face gradually took on color despite her trembling lips.

"Damn it! Calm down stupid arcana! I have no other choice!"

Black mana began to crackle around Klaus. A dark and dense aura filled the room. The resistance of the [Eye of Laplace] began to diminish, and the time distortion began to return to normal.

Klaus quickly suppressed his power again.

Not long after, the pendant shone brightly and a blinding white light engulfed the entire room.

Sheeeeng.

When Klaus opened his eyes, he saw that everything was normal. Sylvia was unconscious on her bed and there was no sign of her body being injured. The items in the room were still in place and the walls looked normal with no scratches.

"Arcana!"

Klaus quickly jumped up and fumbled around the bed. A smile bloomed on his face as he found the [Eye of Laplace] in one piece. It looked like a shiny new item and a strong mystical aura emanated from it.

"Huhuhu, finally."

The room door slammed open, and Sheila frantically got into the room.

"Boss, are you okay? I heard a commotion." She furrowed her brow as she saw Klaus smiling broadly.

"Everything is fine, Sheila." Klaus walked past her and patted her on the shoulder. "I'm going home, you take care of her. Tomorrow, you can take a day off."

"But—"

As she turned around, she only found an empty air.

Sheila frowned. They had only been talking for a few seconds, but Klaus was already gone.

Sitting at the desk in a dark office, Klaus was glued to the [Eye of Laplace] in his hand. When he first found it, he had no plans to use it at all, but after building up the company and guild, he changed his mind.

"Let's give it a try."

Klaus got up from the chair and stood in the center of the room. He poured a large amount of mana into the arcana, and it began to shine brightly. A tongue of reddish flame came out of it and formed into a female spirit figure.

Klaus curled up his lips at the sight of the spirit woman's appearance.

She floated in the air, her skin shiny like copper, emitting a magical aura and her long flowing hair almost touched the floor, blazing like a smoldering fire. Her delicate eyelashes fluttered softly as she opened her eyes. Anyone who saw her would think she was a goddess.

"So this is your true form," Klaus said. "What are you?"

"The name is Laplace. I was created from the [Eternal Flame] and Surtr is my creator."

Klaus shook his head up and down.

In his previous life, Klaus heard many rumors about the [Eye of Laplace]. Some rumors said the arcana was a curse, others said it was a myth. But there was only one rumor that people often talked about. They said that the [Eye of Laplace] was an arcana made from a wandering soul.

Now, Klaus knew the correct answer.

The [Eye of Laplace] was a mythical-grade arcana. Some arcanas had consciousness and they were able to think and make decisions on their own. Some of them were even able to choose their masters. Klaus had two mythical-grade arcana in his previous life, but neither of them had consciousness.

"I have resurrected you, in return I want you to serve me."

"But I don't feel the power of time from you. I only see a dark and corrupt soul within you. You are not the one resurrecting me."

Klaus clicked his tongue. "So, you don't want to serve me, huh?"

No answer came out of Laplace's mouth.

Klaus took her silence as a no. He clenched his hands, and a dark aura emerged from his body. The room became eerie, the air heavy, and his green eyes turned pitch black like the depths of darkness.

Laplace was still silent.

"Don't think so highly of yourself," sneered Klaus. "Destroying one or two arcana is not something difficult for me."

He gripped the pendant tightly in his hand and poured it with black mana. Laplace began to scream in pain as darkness crept into her body. His dark power swallowed her like a shadow swallowed flames.

"Aaaaah!"

She was hysterical, and her voice echoed like a ghost. She then begged for mercy, but Klaus did not care, he continued to channel [Dark Force] into the pendant.

"Stop it!"

After seeing her remaining like a madman, Klaus immediately stopped channeling the [Dark Force]. Not long after, Laplace turned back to red like a flame.

"Looks like your head is clear," Klaus sneered skeptically.

"I apologize. I will serve you as my master. But I have one request."

Klaus raised one eyebrow. For the first time an arcana was asking him for something. He wasn't sure what request she made, but he would listen.

"What is it? Tell me. As long as it's not something crazy, I'll grant it."

Laplace looked down, as if there were doubts in her mind. "I want to be treated like a human."

After hearing her request, only one sentence flashed in his head. "What the fuck."
