Chapter 595: Meeting Wu Dongdong again
Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios
This was an item as rare as the Feather Drop Gem and could give any job an instant teleportation skill, which was faster than Flash. What’s more, was the Rocket Boots’ ability to fly in all sorts of directions!
Netherblue asked, “Are we continuing into the next dungeon? Many guilds have realized the trick and escaped from the Demon of Destruction map. They started raiding as per usual.” She constantly tracked the forums and reported the most critical information back to Lin Jie.
“Nope, after destroying an Abyss Totem, the Demon of Destruction will enter Enraged Mode. It will enter Hell Gate within the next 6 hours, and there’s a 100% chance of it teleporting to the final Boss. Let’s not waste any more time.” Lin Jie waved his hands and said, “Everyone, go back and have some rest, or go offline and sleep, or have a drink at the bar. We will gather again in 6 hours.”
No one doubted Lin Jie as it had already turned into a habit to follow his instructions. Instead, the inexperienced Demon Sword raised his inquiry.
Lin Jie screen-grabbed the message from the game’s official website, and it was stated: ‘Abyss Demon Kings have a bad temper and once you hurt their interests, their rage will follow you wherever you go.”
“Just like that?” Demon Sword blinked.
“We have to gather useful information from all the minute details.” Lin Jie spoke earnestly before saving the dungeon progress and exiting.
Demon Sword stood in place, as though reaching a state of epiphany. He repeated that line in his head a dozen times before closing his fist tightly, “I understand now! This is his secret to success!”
After leaving the dungeon, everyone went on their own ways.
Hardworking Pants continued his research on the runes using the Book of the Age, and the three friends, Qiu Yuan, Netherblue, and Bu Yi, chose to explore the land surrounding the War of Light’s dungeon-group. The others also went to gather more news regarding the dungeon as well as to strengthen themselves.
Lin Jie brought his clone and trudged towards the Rocca Sea Map.
This was a sea situated beyond the City of Light’s Harbour, and players had to make their way there by boat. According to Lin Jie’s knowledge, a Vicious Bloodbath Bird would spawn there. Although it was of unknown species, it was still a Primordial creature.
He was going to make use of this time to activate the Clomaros’ Seven Kills skill.
The Clomaros’ Seven Kills Mystic Skill Book was a Legendary Inheritance. Activating it required the stringent of conditions, such as slaying a Primordial creature alone.
In The New Age, there were a few creatures that carried the Primordial Bloodline, even Dragons were one of them, however, could one even kill them? Putting that aside, surrounding the Dragon’s map were countless monsters and lackeys that were at least Level 100. One would probably be stuffed to death before even getting to see the Dragon! Hence, Lin Jie placed his bet on that Vicious Bloodbath Bird.
As the game progressed, Sea Trade had been completely unfolded. Along the harbor, many players and sailors boarded the ship amidst all the chitter and chatter. They were shipping out the City of Light’s specialties, such as status, crystals, and animal fur to trade. Amongst them, the biggest caravan was led by the player Wu Dongdong, who Lin Jie had helped before once. This caravan traveled across the world and had amassed huge wealth and a great reputation.
Despite their lack of nobility ranks, the Dwarf King from the faraway land still treated them with great respect as they held 70% of all trades in their hands. With such wealth, they had come to replace even the NPCs.
Players building a complete ecosystem in this second world was the current trend.
Lin Jie was currently in the queue to board the ship. Players developed many training spots on the sea, however, as the NPC ships did not travel to those spots, it gave players a business idea.
“Hey, hey, hey, Warrior, your equipment is too heavy! We have to charge you more!” The sailor that was collecting the fees eyed Lin Jie with jealousy and envy. He rattled on loudly, “Please, hand over 2 more gold coins.”
Lin Jie chuckled. “Brother, the fee per person, is 5 silver coins, but you are charging me 2 gold coins, isn’t that too much?”
Lin Jie did not wear his Lone Wolf Helmet, as that was too high profile.
“Hmph, who is your brother? Take it or leave it! You have a full set of rare equipment, but you are unwilling to pay 2 gold coins!” The sailor got angry, although he did find trouble with him purposefully. The wealthy would not bother with 2 gold coins. Furthermore, there was only one company operating! He had earned dozens of coins using that method.
Lin Jie frowned, for these men to be leading such a stable life, a huge contributing factor was Lin Jie’s friendship with the Nagas. He was at his wit’s end upon facing such a problem.
“Big Brother, it’s you!” A squeal sounded from the crowd as they gave way immediately and respectfully. For those that hung out around the sea, who wouldn’t know that man? He was the boss of various sea-trading companies, known as the Sea Chief, Wu Dongdong!
At that moment, a smile hung from his face as he held the hand of the Warrior in trouble. He shouted delightfully, “All my hard work this while is to prove that you did not make a wrong choice back then! Big Brother, if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have the achievements now— Eh? What’s wrong with you?”
Everyone’s glances turned meaningful upon hearing that. This guy was Wu Dongdong’s Big Brother!? Who on earth was he?
Cold sweat dripped down the sailor’s back as he began trembling. ‘Sh*t!!!’ He had offended the wrong person!
“Nothing much, I am just boarding the ship to level up. This brother here is just chatting with me,” Lin Jie replied calmly.
“Yes, that’s right. We were just chatting.” The sailor squeezed out a morphed smile.
Wu Dongdong glanced at him and said coldly, “The fox may grow but never good! I have already warned you against overcharging! Previously, you cried and begged for forgiveness, so I gave you a chance. Is this how you repay me?”
The sailor bit his bottom lip. He had no way to defend himself and could only toss a glance towards Lin Jie, hoping that this ‘Big Brother’ could help him out.
“Hehe...” Lin Jie had a calm demeanor. He would have let it go if this was his first offense, but it seemed like he was impenitent. Thus, there was no need to help him anymore.
“You don’t have to come here. I will get someone to replace you.” Wu Dongdong exuded an authoritative aura as he spoke. However, he softened down as he turned to Lin Jie and spoke respectfully. “Big Brother, come with me. I shall make arrangements for a fast boat to bring you there.”
Soon after, a speedster was ready. The 30-men boat only carried the coxswain and Lin Jie, as it hurried towards its destination.
Despite having many things on hand to settle, Wu Dongdong wanted to send Lin Jie personally, but he was rejected.
Ding~.
—”You have entered the Rocca Sea, the Magi Deserted Island.”
The deserted island was just like a rainforest, covered in leafy trees, which blocked out all the sunlight. At the edge of the island, there stood a huge drooping pine tree. On top of it was a large bird nest.
It was the Vicious Bloodbath Bird’s lair!
Lin Jie stood at the cliff and activated Feather Drop. He descended gradually towards the base. The Holy Light Winged Armor flapped diligently to help keep Lin Jie in track, instead of getting blown away by the gale. Lin Jie was drifting downwards before noticing a cave along the cliff.
However, this cliff was inverted, so it was impossible to drift his way in. In his previous life, Lin Jie had been there before. He had attempted many ways to enter but had given up after failing.
Zi—
Lin Jie grabbed onto the pine tree branch securely before flipping himself and stood sturdily on it. In front of him lay a huge bird nest, but there wasn’t an egg. The beast took great care of its child and would take it on its hunting trips.
Lin Jie raised his head and noted that the cave was approximately 26 yards away. He wouldn’t make it with the normal methods.
However, times had changed!
After equipping himself with the Rocket Boots, Lin Jie leaped off and activated it. Instantly, flames roared beneath his feet, and he flew towards the cave! The only downside was that it was rather difficult to control one’s body. When Lin Jie eyed that he was veering away from the cave, he combined Broken Blade with the Supplementary Sword and shot it out.
The chain-sword technique accurately hit a sturdy rock in the cave, and the Supplementary Sword was stuck. Lin Jie made use of it to drag himself towards the cave. He proceeded to land with a roll to break his fall. It was a perfect landing!
After keeping the Supplementary Sword, Lin Jie noted the time and realized it was going to be evening. The beast should return anytime soon!
Half an hour later, a high-pitched cry was heard as a large firebird-esque creature huddled over. The beast enclawed two eggs in its claws, with the egg having a one-meter radius each. The creature’s body was even larger, as it appeared to be a small mountain upon closer look!
“The chance is here!” Lin Jie held his breath and concentrated as he only had one chance! If he failed, he would have to wait until tomorrow. He was going to aim for the two eggs, instead of the creature! The beast was extremely intelligent. If one were to stick themselves in the cave, it would banish them immediately unless they destroyed its eggs!
The eggshell was covered with granite imprints, and it looked very durable.
Lin Jie took in a deep breath and took a proper aim with Silent Killer. He pressed the trigger with his right hand, and flames poured out from the barrel! Both his hands trembled vigorously as the bullet shot out in a horizontal line!
Flick!
Pow!
The first bullet landed a Critical Hit and left a faint bullet imprint on the eggshell! The beast was seized with panic, and its flying speed increased abruptly. At the same moment, the second bullet landed another Critical Hit at the same spot, and there was a slight ‘Kacha’ sound.
All of a sudden, the beast paused its movement in case there were more bullets ahead. However, concurrently, the third and fourth bullet, arrived and landed two more Critical Hits to the exact same spot. The egg cracked open, revealing a thin membrane.
Screech—
The beast’s wings trembled as it sped up the skill-unleashing speed. It flew through the air and bolted out instantly. At the same time, the fifth bullet found its way and traveled to the same spot at high speed.
The eggshell cracked upon impact—the yolk and albumen flowed out...
