"Little Blue, calculate and see how much longer before this planet is fully awakened." Yaeger, despite her belief that the future might not change drastically, decided to err on the side of caution and asked Little Blue to make the calculations. The latter swung her hands around as she processed the data.
After about five minutes, Little Blue reported, "Master, based on the current recovery rates, this planet will be fully awakened in approximately three hundred and fifty days." She paused, then added, "That is, if the awakening speed remains constant. Should it increase, the awakening could happen even sooner. Master…" Little Blue turned to face Yaeger but stopped mid-sentence, noticing her shocked and pale expression.
"It's not right… Something's wrong. If Earth fully awakens in less than a year, why would the catastrophe only happen three years later?" Yaeger's voice trembled with disbelief. According to Little Blue, a fully awakened Earth could lead to numerous disasters, possibly even reawakening ancient lifeforms.
However, in Yaeger's recollection, the world a year from now should remain relatively calm, with the true disaster unfolding only three years later, starting with changing weather patterns and escalating to catastrophic events culminating in the merging of both worlds.
"It's wrong, it's very wrong. It shouldn't be like this!" The chill of realization ran down Yaeger's spine. "Little Blue, are you certain about your calculations?" she asked urgently.
Little Blue, brimming with confidence, replied, "I am the Artifact Soul of [City of Chaos], a supreme lifeform. Not only am I smart and capable, but I'm also very cute. I don't make mistakes!"
Yaeger, ignoring Little Blue's self-praise, pondered deeply. ‘Could my rebirth have triggered this butterfly effect?' She reflected on her actions since her rebirth, increasingly fearful of the drastic changes they might have caused. Unbeknownst to her, the arrival of the [City of Chaos] was a major catalyst for these changes. Even if she had known, she would have made the same choices for her own protection.
"This is bad. If Earth awakens earlier than expected, the connection between the worlds might happen sooner!" Yaeger realized one of the key reasons behind the merging of Saint Demon World and reality. She surmised that the merging was actually an invasion of reality by Saint Demon World, now set to occur prematurely.
‘I have less than a year. I must become stronger as quickly as possible!' Yaeger resolved. Her primary concern was strengthening herself and her allies, accepting that she couldn't alter the course of the world's events. ‘The higher-ups might have some knowledge about the connection of the worlds, but I don't need to worry about that. As for other regions, they'll have to manage on their own.'Yaeger was not a selfless person, nor did she consider herself a saint. The well-being of foreigners and the state of the world were not her primary concerns. She realized that even if she tried to warn the world about the impending merger with a game world, she would likely be dismissed as a lunatic. The task seemed too thankless and futile for her to bother with.
"Little Blue, from now on, keep an eye on the awakening of Earth and any significant changes. Inform me immediately if anything major occurs," Yaeger instructed.
"I understand!" Little Blue replied, patting her chest. "I'll do my best!"
"Also, keep track of any political changes in this world," Yaeger added.
"No problem. That's easy," Little Blue assured her.
"Good," Yaeger nodded. "You're already aware of the game, right?"
“Yes, somewhat. It's incredible that a world can be accessed in that manner. This game is truly extraordinary!" Little Blue said, having researched [Saint Demon World] via the Internet while Yaeger rested.
“What's your take on this game?” Yaeger inquired.
"Firstly, it's evident that Earth couldn't have developed the terminal by itself," Little Blue began, pointing at the air. A diagram appeared, showing a terminal the size of a power bank, surrounded by analytical data that was beyond Yaeger's comprehension.
"I suspect this terminal is a product of the Ancient Era," Little Blue theorized.
"So, you're suggesting that the terminal was created using technology from Saint Demon World?" Yaeger asked, puzzled.
"Not just that, the materials used for the terminal don't originate from this world either," Little Blue clarified.
Hearing this, Yaeger's expression shifted. She had long contemplated the purpose behind the game's existence. If the game was merely a prelude to an invasion, then the integration of NPCs in the late game stages seemed counterproductive and unnecessary. ‘Moreover, the Five Great Nations are heavily promoting this game. They must be privy to certain secrets or perhaps have struck a deal with the game's creator,' she speculated.
Recalling the apocalyptic events and the rapid response of various nations during the world merger, Yaeger surmised that the game might have been devised by a powerful entity as a beacon of hope for Earth. Yet, the secrecy maintained by the Five Great Nations puzzled her.
"No, revealing such information would be catastrophic, potentially leading to global chaos and the collapse of societal order. Besides, it seems likely that the Five Great Nations might be as in the dark about the future as anyone else, if not more so," Yaeger mused aloud, which left Little Blue somewhat perplexed.
Little Blue harbored suspicions about her master's mental state, given Yaeger's frequent discussions about the future. ‘She's been talking about the future quite a bit. Could she actually predict what's going to happen?' she pondered, a hint of skepticism in her thoughts.
Shaking her head, Yaeger brushed aside her concerns. With some time still left before the day of reckoning, she reminded herself not to overthink. ‘I need to focus on strengthening myself as rapidly as possible and make urgent repairs to [City of Chaos],' she thought.
A wistful sigh escaped her lips as she contemplated, "Being rich would solve so many problems." The financial burden of enhancing her abilities and repairing [City of Chaos] weighed heavily on her mind, causing an immediate sense of headache.
Her contemplation was interrupted by the ringing of her phone. Checking the caller ID, she saw it was Pixie Qin. Answering the call, she wondered aloud, "Why would she call me in the middle of the night? This must be important."
