Chapter 344: Pokemon master of tactics: Chapter 344

Alex didn't immediately call his next Pokemon but he waited for almost 30-second to do more damage to the Alakazam.

Gary saw that too but he didn't say anything and just looked at Alex unemotionally. He didn't want to be influenced by his emotions at this critical moment.

Before the referee could give Alex a warning, Alex called his next Pokemon.

Not wanting to waste any more time, the referee quickly said, "3,2,1, Go" to start the fight.

Umbreon didn't move when she started preparing a move.

Gary said with a serious expression, "Alakazam use [Recover]"

Alex who heard that didn't change his facial expression but thought that Gary's decision wasn't right.

Although Bastiodon's [Toxin] isn't as strong as Crobat or from Pokemon at a similar level to Alakazam, it's still a very effective move in a prolonged fight.

[Toxin] is a move that Alex read a lot about and he even made a few tests of his own with this move.

Once a Pokemon is hit by a poison move like [Toxin], only two different situations can arise.

1: the poison is too weak and the affected Pokemon repels the poison. This only happens with a large level difference or when used on Pokemon-types that are hard to poison, like Steel and Poison-type Pokemon.

2: the poison begins to spreads through the whole body. After that then starts to do more and more damage to the Pokemon's body every second. The process also speeds up when the affected Pokemon moves or uses moves.

This is just the basic information and Alex learned a lot more from these books and his own tests. For example that even if a Pokemon is hit twice by a poison move like [Toxin], it is irrelevant, because only one poison move can remain in the body of that Pokemon. Therefore, the amount of poison from poison move is also not important as long as it can poison a Pokemon with the amount. It will spread throughout the Pokemon's whole body anyway and will not be stronger with more. quality is more important than quantity in this case.

Alakazam's body will take more and more damage after every second so, Alex doesn't think it makes sense to use moves like [Recover].

Alex thought with a smile, 'Maybe Gary thought that he had no other choice. Although it's true that Alakazam doesn't have good attacking moves against Umbreon, is it still a bad strategy.'

Alakazam finished first and he immediately used [Recover]. This healed many of the internal injuries that he had received from the move [Toxin], but it wasn't enough to heal all of the injuries.

Gary wasn't looking at his Pokemon but at Umbreon when he thought, 'A normal-rank move?'

He made a quick decision as he said, "Use Alakazam [Teleport] and stay away from Umbreon."

Even though it's only a normal rank move, Gary knew it couldn't be a typical move if Alex used it.

Umbreon finished and she immediately used [Psych Up].

She just needs to look at Alakazam's body to activate this move and to copy Alakazam's buffs.

Although [Psych Up] can't copy 100% of the buffs on the Normal and Expert ranks, it's better than nothing.

Mainly because Alakazam had buffed twice with [Calm Mind] and that was a way for Umbreon to boost her Spe Def.

Alex didn't send Umbreon into this fight to win quickly, but to buff Umbreon as much as possible without taking a huge toll.

Alakazam, who only had two attack moves that are both terrible against Umbreon, is the perfect opponent for Umbreon to do that with.

Umbreon immediately began preparing her next move. She now starts buffing herself with [Work Up].

Gary's expression darkened when he realized that Alex wasn't planning on quickly defeating his Pokemon.

He said with an unhappy tone, "Alakazam, teleport in front of Umbreon and start preparing [Knock Off]."

Although the attacking move [Knock Off] is really bad, he had no other choice.

Alakazam can do moves like [Focus Blast] but without the ability to move the chance to hit with this move is almost 0. besides that, this move itself didn't have a high hit rate.

Alex just looked calm and didn't give any further orders. He wasn't worried about how much a physical move from Alakazam could do against Umbreon. Especially because this move was even ineffective against Umbreon.

This belief is confirmed after Umbreon was hit by the first [Knock Off]. She lost so little HP that Alex was only sure it was under 5% Hp.

Gary also noticed how bad the damage was and he know that he has to do something or Umbreon will buff herself to the max.

He suddenly had a good idea how to stop this.

Gary took the Pokeball from Alakazam and recalled his Pokemon from battle.

The referee showed a serious expression as he said, "Stop." which was the signal to pause the fight.

He then looked at Gary and said with a serious expression, "Participant Gary, you performed an illegal action. Not only do you get a warning, but the Pokemon you recalled is no longer allowed to participate in this battle and counts as a defeated Pokemon ."

Gary showed a calm expression as he said, "Ok."

Alex flashed a small smile as he said, "Ohh, I see. Pretty clever."
