A Blunder (1)
She repeatedly kowtowed. This frank and straightforward individual was truly not like any other woman.
Ye Mu was feeling uneasy. This Zhao Mingyu had it all: status, attractiveness, a big dowry, even the City Boundary Map… What’s more, she seemed to know her place and was not greedy.
Seeing this, Ye Mu felt somewhat vexed as she reclined on the rooftop. She was truly unhappy about this.
Mo Linyuan was also quiet as he tapped his finger on the dragon handle. Meanwhile, Zhao Mingyu felt her heart being squeezed by his insistent tapping.
She had said these words after careful considerations. All exceptional men had one weakness in common; these types of men felt they needed to be obeyed, submitted to, and supported.
Yet she had to do the opposite with Mo Linyuan: if she was to pique his interest, she could only say that she would leave him alone and keep her distance!
She tried to conceal her inner thoughts, as she claimed resolutely that she only wanted a place to live, not caring about her status or even her husband. Her goal was to employ reverse psychology on the other person and try to achieve her goal.
Just as she claimed, as long as she had a way in, he would be given power over two countries and the City Boundary Map. Even if he was putting on the act of loving Ye Mu more than treasures, he couldn’t possibly refuse this offer she made.
As long as he accepted her… she would then become Mo Linyuan’s woman in name. Then, sooner or later she would make it so that she would become his woman in reality!
It was known how her mother was known for her beauty and enjoyed many years of favoritism. Therefore she was mentored by her mother, who was very experienced, on how best to deal with an emperor.
As a result, although she was on her knees begging, she was very calm internally because she felt that she would be able to obtain the result she wanted.
“You said… as long as you are married and living here, you don’t care about anything else, am I right?
Hearing Mo Linyuan’s unexpected comment, Zhao Mingyu’s eyes shined brightly!
Meanwhile, Ye Mu who was on the rooftop clenched her little hands tightly.
This Zhao Mingyu was clearly suspicious in nature! That damned Mo Linyuan couldn’t possibly be agreeing to it, right?!
Zhao Minyu rushed to speak,
“As long as I can stay in this country, I won’t ask for anything more!”
Mo Linyuan smiled as his phoenix eyes narrowed lightly, “Then that’s good to hear…”
Zhao Mingyu frowned in confusion. She then heard his next statement,
“If it’s just marriage, why don’t we arrange it between you and an esteemed Minister of the Mo Country. Besides, if the Zhao Country’s monarch genuinely wants to connect us by marriage, then I will happily play the matchmatcher Yue Lao* for you!”
(T/N*: Yue Lao = a well-known chinese deity who tied couples together with a red string, as a way of match matching).
Zhao Minyu froze. She couldn’t believe what she heard!
This Mo Linyuan wanted both her dowry and City Boundary Map… yet he refused to accept her?! How can this be?!
Ye Mu couldn’t help but giggle quietly. The doubt was lifted and she instantly felt happier.
It took a moment before Zhao Mingyu found her voice again, “This.. That’s not right. Your Majesty, my father required that I must get married to you! Not someone else…”
Not letting Zhao Mingyu finish speaking, Mo Linyuan interjected with displeasure, “You said yourself that if you could stay in the Mo Country and get married you wouldn’t ask for anything else. You are a young and beautiful lady, how can I let you wither away in the imperial concubine harem? I will support you. With the exception of me, you can marry whomever you please. Do you not like this kind sincerity I offer?”
