Ironclad Chains (2)
The Silent Master’s words made Mo Linyuan’s murderous spirit grow even more. Yet, when he glanced down and saw the bloodstain on his dragon robe, his eyes dimmed slightly…
…It was Ye Mu’s blood. In order to not hurt him… She…
“Fine! But you must swear you will keep her safe and sound!”
Right then, Mo Linyuan’s voice trembled faintly. The Silent monk was taken aback that Mo Linyuan held such deep feelings for Ye Mu.
“I, the Silent Master, swear upon the Heavens above! You have my word!”
Hearing his oath, Mo Linyuan locked eyes with him, before letting out a long breath of relief.
“I will believe in you one last time!”
Ultimately, Mo Linyuan finally released the monk from his grip. The Silent monk walked into the room. The moment he closed the door with his hand, he was instantly overwhelmed by the thick fishy smell of blood.
“Ye Mu…”
Right then Ye Mu looked like a malicious ghost that people talked about in folklore. Her hands were shackled. The heavy ironclad chains wrapped around her feet, with the other end attached to the dragon pillars that supported the palace.
These chains were actually prepped ahead of time by Ye Mu herself. Because she was afraid that she would lose control, she prepared this to lock herself up. This time indeed she had lost all rationality.
The Silent Master could see clearly that a crack has appeared on the ironclad chains. Since he had entered the cell here, Ye Mu had not struggled one bit. Yet with just a little bit more resistance, she would most likely break free of the chains.
That was why when she saw the Silent monk come into the cell, she remained motionless. In the darkroom, he regarded her like a dead corpse.
“Ye Mu…”
He closed his eyes due to his inability to keep looking at her. The funny thing was, the previous two times, they were waiting to see her lose all rationality, such that she would go on a killing spree… Yet in the end, when she finally turned into a monster with no rationality, the Silent monk realized that he couldn’t bear to see her like this.
Besides Ye Mu, who else in this world would be the first one to notice when he was unhappy?
Besides Ye Mu, who else in the Tianshou Temple could make him laugh so loudly?
All these years, he truthfully only hoped that she would keep living her days, sharing her endless jokes and endless happiness with him. In recent years, as she visited him monthly, he kept those stolen moments to himself.
He approached one step… CRASH!
Within seconds he heard the noise of the chains straightening! Ye Mu tried to grasp him with her hands, but she couldn’t reach him.
The Silent Master scrutinized Ye Mu with her insanity filled eyes… his heart twisted.
The chained hands once again opened as Ye Mu struggled to try and grasp ahold of the Silent monk’s neck. In the end, it was just outside her reach.
She snarled viciously. The whole chamber rumbled with her sharp voice. The Silent Master approached her once again. In the end, he closed his eyes and started to recite Buddha scriptures to her.
What he recited wasn’t anything profound, It was a simple paragraph anyone would read in the temple.
Evidently, he read it with a hoarse voice that held deep regret and distress.
Oh, honorary Buddha…
Who traveled a long time to deliver great wisdom and meet… the Five Aggregates…
Passing each and every day in vain, bitterness, suffering hardship…
The moment Ye Mu heard his voice, she became even more irritable. Her eyes truly already lost all traces of reason. The iron chain rattled. If she broke free, the Silent Master would undoubtedly face death.
But the Silent monk remained fearless. He continued to read the scriptures with his eyes closed, concentrating intently. Even if he didn’t have his Buddha beads in his hands right then… Even if he wore a prisoner’s outfit then… He didn’t lose one bit of his purity and holiness.
