Finding a Solution (1)
“So, where’s His Majesty right now?” Ye Mu asked the servant.
“At this time, I think he should be in the Imperial Study Room.”
The servant replied without hesitation to Ye Mu because he knew that she was very significant to the emperor. However, the servant was also worried for her, “Miss Ye couldn’t possibly still be considering going to see him right now, right?”
After all, this situation wasn’t something an ordinary person can handle, and she still had time to avoid it!
Ye Mu replied, “It’s not a problem. He hasn’t eaten yet, so I’ll go and join him.”
After conversing, Ye Mu headed over to the Imperial Study Room. Upon her arrival, she saw quite a few people kneeling.
“You all weren’t able to catch the person who started this rumor. Whether or not you truly cannot suppress these rumors or that you actually don’t want to suppress it, I understand very clearly!”
She hadn’t entered yet, but she could hear Mo Linyuan’s frigid voice transmit through the walls of the room. The emperor’s ability to influence others was truly formidable. Being only simple officials, they knew they could not resist his oppressive air. Yet, in order to avoid it from worsening, they still attempted to quell the emperor’s rage. It was for these reasons that Mo Linyuan could speak so abrasively.
“Please calm down Your Majesty, we wouldn’t dare to oppose you!” pleaded a senior official.
“Wouldn’t dare?” Mo Linyuan was sitting in the head chair, gazing at the officials below. He chuckled coldly, “If you are sincere in saying you wouldn’t dare to oppose me, then continue to suppress these rumors! This business is concerning the previous Empress’s innocence. I will not let anyone tarnish her reputation!”
“Y-Yes! Absolutely! Definitely! We will do that right now!”
After speaking, all of the officials rushed out. As they exited, they saw Ye Mu by the entrance. The Grand Tutor turned to greet her, “Miss Ye.”
“Hello Grand Tutor.” Ye Mu replied. The person in front of her was actually Mo Linyuan’s maternal grandfather. But since Mo Linyuan was the monarch, anyone in reference to him was simply an official first, followed by others below that. At this moment, the Grand Tutor was still highly bound to his title, so he continued to whisper respectfully to her,
“Miss Ye, you have come to talk to the sovereign?”
Ye Mu nodded, “I already heard about what happened. The person who’s spreading this has truly gone too far!”
The Grand Tutor’s face flashed with a hint of concern.
“What’s truly unsettling about this is that the opponent only wanted to slander the previous Empress’s reputation but there are still sinister motives behind it.”
Ye Mu giggled, “Relax Grand Tutor, His Majesty isn’t your ordinary person. The bad guys won’t get away with it!”
The Grand Tutor nodded his head, “Then we must trouble Miss Ye to please console His Majesty as much as possible.”
Ye Mu bowed, “Leave it to me!”
As Ye Mu entered the building, a few of the servants were tidying and picking up scattered papers on the ground. Mo Linyuan was crouched over, his hand supporting his forehead, with a big frown on his face.
For Mo Linyuan, the biggest injustice in this situation wasn’t because they wanted to harm his reputation. But rather, his biggest pain was caused by them targeting his already deceased mother. His mother lived a lonely and bitter life. Even in death, she met a horrible end. He didn’t want her last memories to also be associated with a negative reputation as well.
Ye Mu quietly walked over and reached out to knead his forehead with a hand.
“How are you doing… still upset?”
Mo Linyuan was originally brimming with vicious aura, but as Ye Mu continued to message him, he narrowed his eyes and softly spoke,
“I’m not angry anymore. The opponent’s goal was clearly to try and provoke me. How can I react as she wants me to?”
Mo Linyuan and Ye Mu both knew who “She” was referring to. Besides the Empress Dowager, who else could possibly still try to mess with Mo Linyuan so soon after he just killed off two big families?
“What are you planning to do about this?” Ye Mu asked, “If you let these rumors continue on, wouldn’t it be bad for your reputation?”
After all, the illegitimate son of the Prime Minister was now the emperor. Those who wanted to conspire against the Mo Clan could easily take down the family by using verbal attacks from state officials, especially if it were an official from an aristocratic family. This would be even more so if those officials had parents who died during the hunt in the mountain’s forests; once they could grab ahold of this opportunity, they would most definitely be unwilling to let it go.
If it was true that Mo Linyuan was not of royal lineage, it would be detrimental to the emperor seat he held.
