The Sovereign’s Questionable Birth (1)
Just behave a little? Ye Mu hugged her pillow. Mo Linyuan was embracing her from behind, both of them were quiet and motionless.
She forced herself to divert her attention elsewhere. Shortly after seeing Mo Linyuan’s calligraphy, she realized his handwriting had become more and more refined!
For a moment, Ye Mu was entranced by the elegance of his writing, and couldn’t help but compliment him.
“Your calligraphy looks amazing!”
Despite how she has been living in historical China for a while now, her calligraphy still looked like chicken scratch. It was truly shameful.
“Does it look amazing?” Mo Linyuan faintly raised his brows. His long eyelashes drooped, as the corner of his mouth lifted gently, “Ah yes, compared to your calligraphy, yours is not very pleasant to look at.”
Ye Mu responded with a hmph! A few seconds later, Mo Linyuan seized her hand.
“Although your handwriting isn’t pretty, I have some free time right now. Let me teach you a thing or two!”
After speaking, he encapsulated Ye Mu’s hand within his palm. His hand tightened around hers so that her hand would hold onto the brush pen.
“Hey, how could you possibly write well holding my hand like this!”
Mo Linyuan’s hand was very strong as it firmly engulfed her small hand. Ye Mu still remembered how when he used to write, he would place an egg on top of his hand. Whenever the egg fell, he would have to rewrite all the calligraphy again. As time passed, his handwriting has become steady and distinct in its motions. While his hand held hers, Ye Mu’s would tremble, but his hand remained stable.
“Focus for a moment.” Unexpectedly, his warm breath brushed the side of Ye Mu’s ear, making her feel a little hot. Immediately, she tried to concentrate intently. She let him guide her hands as they drew a character together.
The result of the descending brushstrokes was a crooked character.
Ye Mu didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, “I already warned you, holding my hand as you write won’t yield good results.”
The brush pen once again fell upon the paper and left marks. The previously beautiful calligraphy page was now stained with imperfection.
“It’s no big deal.” Mo Linyuan laughed softly, “Let’s continue.”
“Let’s not…” Ye Mu wanted to remove her hand, “Will your document even be legible after this?”
Originally Mo Linyuan needed to draw out “准” (Allow), “不准” (Not Allow), or “等等” (To Be Determined). If the word written was clumsy and unclear, those who read it wouldn’t know what he was saying. They may even accuse Mo Linyuan of doing his job half-heartedly, when in truth he was incredibly diligent.
“It’s not a problem.” Mo Linyuan grasped her hand even tighter, unwilling to let her retract it. His left hand hugged her waist, forcing her bottom to sit solidly on his thighs. “When you’re writing calligraphy, you need to be at ease. Sometimes, you are not focusing enough. Once you concentrate more, you will be able to obtain better results.”
Ye Mu, half understanding what he said, dipped her head, and completely relaxed her hand. This gave Mo Linyuan complete control of her hand. And sure enough, every stroke of the character was written out neatly and orderly. Although it was not as strong or stylish as Mo Linyuan’s own writing, at least it wasn’t chicken scratch.
Ye Mu couldn’t help but exclaim, “If only I could write this well even when you aren’t guiding my hands. That would be great.”
Mo Linyuan laughily replied, “There’s no need.”
He lovingly squeezed Ye Mu’s delicate little hand, “I am willing to hold onto your hand for the rest of my life.”
Ye Mu’s face flushed red. She stared at him and stuttered, “You need to stop speaking like that. Things might get misunderstood! I’m only twelve, why do you have to be such a brute?”
“A brute?” Mo Linyuan continued to write words by guiding her hand. His eyes filled with emotion as he asserted, “As long as I can obtain what I want, what’s the harm in being a brute?”
Ye Mu was no match for him. She muttered sternly, “I have just now realized that the emperor’s abilities are definitely not that of your average person.”
Mo Linyuan chuckled lightly, “You’re only just realizing that I’m different from other people?”
“Yes.” Ye Mu nodded enthusiastically, “You’re more shameful than others! A typical person truly wouldn’t be able to do what yo–AHAHAH! I was wrong! I surrender! Stoptickling me!”
