As expected, there was a Recording Gliph in the embroidered pouch.
The piece of paper floated in the air, emitting gentle light. “You made it. Becoming a Cloud Palace disciple is difficult, but for a monster like you… valid.”
Chui Tin’s voice was so familiar; it accompanied him for about ten years of childhood. Yet it was strange as it had been almost nine years, excluding those times he used the other embroidered pouches, since he last heard this voice.
“It’s time for you to go on a journey to explore this huge world beyond Southary. As the saying goes, it is better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books. It’s good to tour around the world.
“Your father misses you dearly, but if I have yet to show up by now, I’m either still searching for your mother’s whereabouts or have encountered a situation that prevents my return. However, you’re most likely allowed to leave the mountain because you are now capable of keeping yourself safe.
“Take some time to return to our house in Southary when you return to Cloud Palace from your journey. By then, I might be there awaiting your return.
“We’ll reunite soon, Siu Yim. Very soon.”
The piece of paper fell to the ground after losing energliph, and Chui Yim picked it up and folded it into a small square carefully to have it as a keepsake, like how he cherished his relationship with Chui Tin.
The next day, the keys to the Wandering Son’s Lake residence returned to Chau Chung’s hands. Chui Yim gave him a meaningful glance when he did so, which Chau Chung understood, and he promised that he wouldn’t pull anything like the Blue Cloud Pavilion again.
He initially thought that the teens would only return about decades later, but now, it had only been four years and they already returned. Chau Chung was sure that if he dared to come up with the Blue Cloud Pavilion again, they would undoubtedly send him to the clouds with a punch.
“Where are we heading?” Lam Ming Sum asked, blinking her eyes excitedly. She had never travelled before, not counting the “trip” from Southary with Kan Hang since they were being hunted the entire time and she did not have the chance to enjoy the scenery. So, she was undoubtedly excited for her first trip.
“Yeah, where are we going?” Kan Hang asked. He thought he was being natural enough, but amongst the teenagers, he looked like an outlier.
The trio turned to Kan Hang helplessly, while Lam Ming Sum turned around with puffed-up cheeks. “Uncle Kan! I said there’s no need to follow me! Brother Chui and Chin Kee will protect me!”
“How can these two boys protect you? I’m going to follow.” Kan Hang was dying to point at the boys and scream at them in anger.
“Uncle Kan!” Lam Ming Sum glared at him and had her arms akimbo. “I’m going to get angry if you continue acting in this manner!”
Kan Hang sighed helplessly and put his hands up. No wonder they say that a grown daughter is just like spilled water… “Alright, I won’t follow.”
“But…” His expression fell, staring at the boys as if they were men. “If Ming Sum comes back with even the slightest injury, I will tear you into pieces…”
“Uncle Kan!” Lam Ming Sum screamed.
When she watched Kan Hang leaving while constantly turning back to check on her, Lam Ming Sum heaved a sigh of relief.
“Let’s leave for Great Wisdom City in the west first.” Chui Yim only answered now. He only looked up at the warm sunlight shining down on him and felt the chilling breeze.
“The invitation from Hidden Vanguard City’s grand master Mok is in December. It’s late summer now, it will be right in time for us to head to Hidden Vanguard City after we stay at Great Wisdom City for some time.”
“Then let’s go,” Kam Chun Kee replied. He was fine with any arrangement.
“Team Cloud Palace, let’s go!” Lam Ming Sum shouted and stepped over the water curtain gates first!
Chui Yim and Kam Chin Kee exchanged a glance and followed her to the west.
A middle-aged man sat on the ground silently with crossed legs. There was an institution called Dragon Dance Academy in South Imperial City, and it was one of the Eight Institutions.
It was undoubtedly powerful since it was part of the Eight Institutions, which were ranked higher than hundreds of other institutions. However, it was currently in an awkward position.
The previous principal of Dragon Dance Academy, Yuen Yan Hou, passed away two years ago. He was a powerful cultivator who killed many enemies in the Bloody War Frontier and used to follow the Chor Clan’s Spiral Dragon Soldiers around, only joining Dragon Dance Academy as a teacher when he reached the four-chambered state.
With the methods of Metallic Blood War Gate, he helped Dragon Dance Academy improve rapidly, and like the Sky Raiser Institution, they got into the Eight Institutions as a dark horse.
However, as a soldier in the past, Yuan Yan Hou suffered from many hidden injuries and died before a hundred years old, which was a rare sight for four-chambered cultivators.
Being a soldier, he never thought of taking in disciples. He only raised one kid; a baby rescued over forty years ago on the battlefield by a heroine who cradled the infant in her arms and ensured his survival. As the boy grew, he followed Yuen Yan Hou around and became his deputy general when he grew up. He then followed Yuen Yan Hou to join Dragon Dance Academy. The baby boy was Yuen Ho, a three-chambered state cultivator now.
Yuen Yan Hou never officially admitted that Yuen Ho was his disciple, but he took Yuen Ho around since the boy was born, and they were as close as father and son despite not having the identity. To many, Yuen Ho would definitely be the next Dragon Dance Academy principal.
But as mentioned above, Yuen Ho was only in the three-chambered state, and only the intermediate stage, which made the four-chambered state a far reach for him. He was only about forty years old, an age when most current four-chambered elites of today had not even broken through to the three-chambered state. Even Yuen Ren Hao only broke through to the four-chambered state as a seventy-year-old.
Thus, it wasn’t that Yuen Ho was incapable, but every one of the Eight Institutions had four-chambered or hundred-gliphic cultivators guarding the institution; capability speaks the loudest, after all. Meanwhile, the Big Three had five-chambered and thousand-gliphic elites guarding them.
As the saying goes, a tiger’s fall leads to it being bullied by dogs. Within two years, after the institution lost their four-chambered elite, Dragon Dance Academy’s enrollment rate decreased greatly and they were even plundered of many resources.
Yuen Ho sat on the ground crossed-legged with a spear on his leg. There weren’t many cultivators in the world who wielded a spear despite it having the title of King of Weapons. Many gliphers viewed it as less aggressive than an axe, less agile than a longsword, and less fierce than a long blade, thus many cultivators turned away from this weapon. The most famous cultivator who used a spear wasn’t any well-known elite, but the teenager Yeung Tin Hun, who was also the young master of Four Seasons Heaven.
Of course, many had forgotten that Yuen Yan Hou was also known as the Spear Dragon before he passed on.
Yuen Ho might not have been Yuen Yan Hou’s disciple in name, but Yuen Yan Hou raised him just like he was. Thus, Yuen Yan Hou left him his grade-three peak gliph weapon, the Tyrant Dragon Spear, after he passed on.
