Chapter 2114: Two Young Women
The second ghost zombie king was far stronger than the first. Lu Yun fled back to Jingzhou City with Yuan Yi in tow; he didn’t look back.
The first zombie king would be dead before he made it back to the city, and the second zombie king wouldn’t dare give chase before it gained a deeper understanding of the human’s capabilities.
Lu Yun also knew that if the second ghost zombie king dared come after him, he would take out his second zombie king of the night. His strength was nearly on par with the first zombie king to begin with. It’d increased explosively after the mistress and others undid the second seal, enabling him to defeat the zombie king with one punch.
While the second was stronger than the first, it wasn’t to a noticeable degree. The young man was confident that he’d be able to kill the second zombie king without breaking a sweat.
But the fight had already drawn the attention of another ghost zombie king. If they continued fighting, it might draw increasing numbers of zombie kings or even more terrifying entities.
Lu Yun was still unable to see through the heart of reality after residing here for twelve hundred years. It felt like a constant gray haze wrapped around the world. The strongest he’d met so far was just a few ghost zombie kings. However, there were certainly more frightening things lurking out there.
The zombie kings were simply mutated from past cultivators, and the stronger ones at that. What about the rest?
And what was it that had caused the death of an entire world?
Lu Yun didn’t dare be too blatant in his actions. Killing one ghost zombie king and intimidating another was enough for the day. It was sufficient that the nearby ghost zombies refrained from harassing Jingzhou City.
The rest could wait until he was stronger.
……
Lu Yun and Yuan Yi returned just as quietly as they’d departed. No one in the city knew what’d happened, including the other cultivators.
Not a single ghost zombie disturbed the city for an entire month; the city’s residents began to breathe more easily. But on this day, two rays of light descended from the sky and halted over the city.
They resolved themselves into two young women dressed in long ivory robes. They wore an indescribable expression of arrogance and aloofness on their charming faces.
“Are you the strongest of this land?” One of them looked down, her gaze cutting through the air to land on Lu Yun, who was teaching a group of children.
While most of the children had no cultivation potential, he could still teach them numerous methods to temper their bodies. They could hone their blood and qi and enhance their strength—it was a different approach to cultivation.
Although this land lacked great dao, making it so that many cultivation methods and combat arts were unusable, one could cultivate the body to the point of tearing apart ghost zombie kings with one’s bare hands.
The city’s inhabitants had grown immensely stronger over the past twelve hundred years. Lu Yun came across numerous hunters in the wilderness during this time. He hunted them down in turn and claimed their flesh and blood for the people.
It was one of the major reasons why they’d grown so strong.
The group of children released rays of blood and qi as they cultivated. Though they hadn’t truly set foot into the ranks of cultivation, their strength could still be regarded as peerless. Lu Yun stood in front of them and raised his head to consider the two young women above them. He frowned despite himself.
They were human and held themselves with an innate bearing of frosty superiority.
“Who are you?” he raised an eyebrow.
“You have no right to know who we are,” one of them creased her forehead. “Do you know anything about a ghost zombie king that’s died nearby?”
“As I thought,” Lu Yun nodded. “I killed it.”
“Just you?” the other young woman snorted. “Come with us then, since you killed it.”
“Am I to go with you just because you want me to?” Lu Yun snorted. “Who the hell do you think you are?”
Although they were exceedingly beautiful, the same went for any woman who cultivated. Other than cultivators who didn’t care about their appearance in the slightest, any male or female cultivator would hone their appearance to the best of their abilities.
It was an instinctive action.
“Forget that, just take him. We don’t need to waste more words with him.” The two shifted into motion after looking at each other, releasing immense power from their diminutive frames. It was similar to blood and qi, but its way of existence was far more sophisticated.
This was the strength of this world’s body cultivators, one more than a hundred times stronger than the Yuan Yi of old. She was no match for them even now—they’d beat her straight into the world of the dead.
“Hold!” Lu Yun called out. “I’ll go with you.”
“Lu Yun!” Yuan Yi rushed in from outside the city. She called out to him with shock.
“Don’t worry, I've modified the formations again during this time. Not even ghost zombie kings will break through them,” Lu Yun transmitted to Yuan Yi. “I’m going to go with them and see who they are.”
“…alright then,” Yuan Yi nodded mutely. “Be careful.”
Lu Yun rose into the air and faced the two women. “Let’s go.”
“Look what you made us do, you wretch,” one of them sneered and adjusted her bearings, flying high into the sky.
These two were extremely strong—on par with a zombie king. Lu Yun, however, wasn’t afraid of them. He’d left more so out of consideration for the city. If they’d fought here, the city would be decimated before he knew it.
Judging from their expressions, the women didn’t think much of the city’s inhabitants. The destruction and death of a city didn’t mean much to them. It was why Lu Yun had changed his mind. He nursed certain concerns, they didn’t.
Lu Yun quickly caught up to them when they vanished into the horizon as beams of light. They didn’t care if Lu Yun was behind them or not. Or perhaps they were certain that the young man would be able to catch up to them.
“In the sky?” Lu Yun blinked with astonishment as he watched them set a course straight up. He’d only explored the vast earth over the past twelve hundred years and never, ever entertained the thought that there might be people up in the sky.
“AOUUU!” A terrible roar broke through the air just when Lu Yun was about to catch up to the women. A massive body approached from the distance.
It was a ghost zombie king, one that could fly.
