Ji Qingqing was slightly stunned.

“I’ve been living with Lu Lixing for thirty years. Since becoming sensible, his life has always revolved around studying and after growing up, it became work. But after you came into his life, he started to rest at home during weekends and holidays. He even started taking vacations.” After Old Lu said that, he sighed and continued, “I often regret my decision of instilling him to shoulder the heavy responsibility of the Lu Corporation since young. And as a result for all these 30 years, he didn’t have much time for himself, let alone a day to relax. Compared to Lu Corporation, I very much wish for him to put down Lu Corporation for some time and live his own life.”

“Grandpa knows that you don’t have feelings towards Lu Lixing and holding a marriage would be akin to publicizing your relationship. But I sincerely hope that you will get along with Lu Lixing and give him a chance. If you are still undecided, then Grandpa will give you time to consider this carefully.”

“Grandpa, I…”

“You don’t have to give an answer now,” Old Lu interrupted her. “Qingqing, this concerns your whole life. Think seriously and carefully. Don’t make a hasty decision.”

The joy in Ji Qingqing’s eyes grew. “You misunderstood what I meant. What I intended to say was, for this matter you can make the decision for me.”

Her words could be counted as a direct answer to Old Lu’s question and they showed her willingness to hold the wedding which would publicize their relationship.

Old Lu looked at her in surprise as the corners of his mouth smiled wider. “You agree to hold this wedding with Lu Lixing?”

Ji Qingqing nodded.

“Since you agreed, how can I be the only one to make the decision? This is an important event for the two of you! I will help you two pick a date. But as for the other matters, both of you would still have to go over them yourselves. Firstly, we’ll need to meet your parents.”

Ji Qingqing’s smile instantly stiffened. A second later, she forced out a smile. “Grandpa, my family…” she did not know how she should explain her situation to prevent Old Lu from misunderstanding.

Noticing Ji Qingqing’s expression, Old Lu came to a sudden realization.

“Don’t worry, although Grandpa is old, I’m not senile. If you have any concerns feel free to let Grandpa know.”

“Actually, it’s nothing much…” Ji Qingqing gave him a run-through of the Ji family’s situation to Old Lu in a neutral and unexaggerated manner.

If her parents knew that the person she was marrying is Lu Lixing, they would cling to the Lu family as if it was their sole lifeline and refuse to let go. And when they visit them in the future, their lives probably wouldn’t be as carefree anymore.

After hearing, Old Lu let out a deep breath and nodded. “I see.”

Noticing that Ji Qingqing’s expression didn’t look well, Old Lu replied, “Don’t worry. You can rest assured and be a bride. If anything crops up, let Lu Lixing, the groom handle it. You’re the bride so you should be happily preparing to be married off prettily.”

Joy filled Ji Qingqing eyes and her heart felt warm and at ease.

After lunch, Ji Qingqing accompanied Old Lu to the lake for fishing. She completely opened her heart to him and discussed her innermost concerns with him. As Old Lu had seen a great deal in his life, he had a lot of life experiences and was

knowledgeable. In his eyes, her concerns were all minor matters that could be solved quickly.

With Old Lu’s words, Ji Qingqing became completely reassured.

Just then, her phone started to vibrate continuously. Ji Qingqing looked at her phone and saw that the contact set as “Little Brother” sent her a chain of voice messages.

Having listened to Old Lu’s advice regarding the original host’s family, Ji Qingqing currently didn’t have anything that was worrying her. She tapped on the voice messages to listen.

“Sis!!!”

A tragic wail burst from her phone speakers. Its loud volume not only made her jump in shock but also scared away the fish on Old Lu’s fishing hook.

Ji Qingqing smiled apologetically at Old Lu as she felt regretful for the fish that nearly got caught in his hook but then escaped. He waved his hand. “Go go. Today Grandpa will catch a fish for you to eat.”

Ji Qingqing smiled and left the lake. She went to her bedroom and started listening to the WeChat voice messages.

“Sis! Save me! Quickly come and save me! I’ll be screwed if you don’t save me.”

Ji Qingqing’s eyebrows knitted and she tapped the voice messages on the chat.

All of them were those few words, ‘Help me.’
