214 What A Cunning Move!
(Tom’s PoV)
Normally, no one could leave unscathed from those fierce shots of fire. But, much to my surprise, he did it!
As soon as those fire faded away, we all saw him fallen back with his eyes wide opened in shock. I was curious about how he could be safe and sound after that fire hit him. However, Jane didn’t give him any chance to recover from his shock when she launched another attack.
With the fire burning high in the sky, she pulled a bow out of the air and put an arrow made of fire in it, aiming for Rasha’s head. The cold look she had on her face really made me think that she really wanted to kill him.
There was no blood thirsty air detected from her, but the way she looked at Rasha as if his life was not something worthy. Rasha was like an annoying mosquito that could be killed anytime without feeling guilty.
But, I believed Jane would not reach to that point. There was no way she would kill someone as important as Rasha . But, the way she acted felt dangerous. Ah, I really didn’t know what Jane had in mind. I really had no other choice but had faith in her.
I focused myself on seeing Jane raining Rasha with fire arrows. That poor guy could only run away while screaming like a woman.
The strange thing was... he was untouched by the fire!
Now that my eyes had gotten used to the scene in front of me, I could finally see the faint barrier appeared in front of Rasha, protecting him every time he would get hit by the fire. It was so short that if I didn’t watch it carefully, there was no way I could notice it.
.....
However, I doubted that coward noticed anything. He still had that horrified expression on his face. If I were him, I wouldn’t need to feel afraid since I would be unharmed from the attack.
But, he didn’t.
How stupid was he exactly?
Well, again, it was normal for him.
But, I was more curious to why Jane kept getting more vicious in her attack. Each of her attack seemed to aim for kill. She might have known about the barrier, but she kept attacking Rasha.
It was only around ten minutes since she started attacking and I had lost count on how many attacks had been shot towards that man. The sturdy barrier finally showed a crack and Jane increased her attack.
The crack spread like a spider web under those attacks. I unconsciously held my breath as I watched it warily. Any of those attacks could cause death if it hit Rasha head-on!
I thought I should be ready to pull that man out if something bad were to happen.
However, my concern was not needed after all.
Right before the barrier collapsed, someone appeared between them and repelled those attacks away!
Judging from the way his body was emitting a faint glow and looking almost transparent, I knew he was someone from the other dimension. Also, somehow our dim surrounding turned even darker, like a dark cloud before a heavy rain.
Instantly, Jane stopped attacking. There was a glint of victorious in her eyes. Her sleepiness seemed to have disappeared. The sight of her bearing the demeanor of a winner looked sparklingly beautiful, especially with the glow of blue fire behind her. I was mesmerized by the scene in front of me for a split second.
“You’re here, finally.” Jane said with a faint smile on her face.
“Master of First Army.” The man bowed down to Jane.
“Heh, she managed to get him out here.” Siji appeared out of nowhere. He chuckled in amusement, but it seemed like he knew who that man was.
“Who is he?” Sanji asked the question quickly before I could say it.
“Advisor of Cloud Army.” Siji smiled. “Just watch. It will be a good show.” He said as he sat down next to me.
My eyes widened in surprised hearing his answer. That man was the Advisor of Cloud Army? Then he was in the same position as Siji, then. As much as I wanted to ask more questions towards Siji, he had said to watch the show. Therefore, I turned my head towards the trio in front of me.
“Why don’t you tell him to assume his position as the rightful Master of Cloud Army? Or do you still want to play with his uncle and cousin?” Jane crossed her arms across her chest.
The man smiled patiently. “Master of First Army, it’s not like I don’t want him to be our Master. But, since he refused to acknowledge us, I couldn’t even appear in front of him. Since he couldn’t see me, how could he take on his role as our Master?”
Jane arched her eyebrows as she looked at the young man behind the Advisor of Cloud Army. “But now he can see you.” She said nonchalantly. “Go and take care of it. I want him to assume his position fully today.”
“But...” The Advisor looked like he wanted to complain.
Well, if I were to be a General for someone as lame as Rasha, I would complain, too.
“He has the ability to let you use your full abilities as Cloud Army. Without him, you can’t even stand a chance to protect this city, let alone the Middle Region. Those uncle and cousin of him could only use your men for evil purpose. Unless he claims his position as the Master, they will be able to use you however they want, turning you from cloudy to darkness. If that happens, I’m afraid Cloud Army will be destroyed forever.” Jane stated calmly.
“You, as the Advisor of Cloud Army, have the ability to shape your future master into what the Cloud Army needs. I believe you can awaken his real power in him in less than a week. I will see you in the meeting later, with him as your Master. If you fail to do so...” Jane stopped and smiled brightly at him. “...you’ll see your Cloud Army being White Army’s sandbags.”
After saying that, she waved her hand, signaling the fire bearers to return, before she walked towards us. “Let’s go back. I want to catch up on my sleep before Siji let us return to our hellish training.” She yawned lazily.
“Eh, I underestimated your bossing skill.” Siji said. “I was expecting a good fight between you and that old man. But, he seems to be stunned speechless by your skill.”
Jane flinched as she finally noticed Siji’s presence. “I thought you didn’t come.”
“Just say, your display of power made the other ghosts went into chaos. It was hard not to notice.” Siji smiled as he stood up and dusted off his pants from the non-existent dust. “Also, I sensed the presence of the other Advisor who was in distress. It can only happen if something dangerous happens to someone they are protecting. My guess is the barrier was created by him. All Masters of Cloud Army would have Advisor’s barrier around him/her at all times just in case someone was to attack the Masters before they assume their position as Master of Cloud Army.”
“However, someone attacking until the barrier was about to collapse is a rare case. You’re not the only one, but it can be said that you are pretty nuts to break the barrier like that.” Siji squinted his eyes at Jane. “Only when the barrier is about to break that the Advisor will appear. You have been targeting that case, right?”
Jane smiled. “Of course. If I really wanted to beat him into pulp, I wouldn’t waste my energy and had Sanji or Tom to do it for me. But, the barrier won’t work towards physical attack. Only when I used my power then it would be activated and send signal to the Advisor.”
“You have planned it all along!” I clapped my hands out of admiration towards her. “How do you know that information, though?”
“When you guys were practicing, I have been cramming my brain with knowledge about the armies and everything I need to pay attention to. You don’t know how hard it was for me to remember all of those. I wished I could learn more about my power and practicing like you guys, but Siji had me read and memorize all about the armies.” Jane was like a withered flower when she talked about it, as if it was a dark moment for her to remember.
Still, she was so awesome to be able to remember that information!
“Siji, why don’t you go there and greet your old friend? Take your time chatting with him, we will wait for you at home.” Jane suddenly suggested with a suspicious fake smile on her face.
Darling, are you trying to drive Siji away so that you can go back home and sleep? What a cunning move!
