Pressing the button to wait for the elevator, Zhang Liling saw a few security guards rush toward her.
Without an ounce of fear within her, she stood at the same spot and watched them come to her side as if she was a criminal.
"Miss, please we have to ask you to step aside as you do not have the permission to step into a private property."
"Hahahaha..." Zhang Liling laughed out loud without caring about the weird looks everyone was giving to her as the security guards blocked bed way.
She was finding these people very funny. Are they normal, trying to stop her from entering her father's property?
They must be bored at their jobs and seeking to cause drama.
They must not be aware that she was in fact very fund of dramas.
Staring at the four men ready to drag her away, she decided to stress herself by reminding them of who she was. Then if they were truly insane, they should attempt to continue with the ridiculous idea in their heads.
"I am Zhang Liling, and I have every right to come into this place to see whoever I want to see and leave at my own will."
Releasing a deep breath, the corners of her lips curled as she asked while moving her gaze from one person to the other.
"Do you have a problem with that?"
Right then, the 'ding' sound went off as the elevator doors opened.
Seeing that, Zhang Liling walked past them and went into the elevator.
Then as the doors were closing, she said to the stunned men who had now turned to face her.
"You're welcome." And with that, the doors shut, instantly separating her from them.
Whether they were letting her go because she identified herself, or because of her confidence with a touch of audacity, she didn't care.
At least, they had sense at the end.
Without any hindrances along the way, Zhang Liling made it to the main office halls for several departments.
Since she had no idea where in particular her father's office was, she would have to ask questions as she didn't have any intentions of calling Zhang Renshu over the phone over a small issue.
Since she had made her way to this level without him, then she would continue in the same way.
Remembering that her best friend, Tungmei walked there, she decided to visit her and at the same time, find out where her father's office was located.
But who knew that she would meet someone she didn't want to, along the hallway.
"Liling?" Zhang Mingyu you called out with a surprised look on his face as he took a step back when he almost slammed into her.
Lots of curse words were already at the tip of his tongue but fortunately, he listened to voice in his head that asked him to look before spewing those words.
Thankfully, he didn't have to expose his other side to the wrong person.
Meeting her fake half-brother was the last thing in Zhang Liling's mind. She almost stopped herself from flashing him a fake smile.
"Yes, that's me. Any problem?" She asked, intentionally covering the lettering on the box with her right palm to stop him from learning of matters she wanted to stay hidden from him.
"I am surprised to see you here. I thought you didn't like this place, what are you doing here?" Zhang Mingyu asked, slipping his hands inside the front pockets of his dark green suit pants as a smile marked his face.
Almost immediately, he noticed the stuff in her hand and directed his attention to it. "What is in your hands?"
Looking at him without altering the smile on her face, she retorted, "Am I in any way supposed to answer those questions?"
She was almost on the verge of laughing while asking back.
Her actions were capable of deceiving those who didn't know who she was, that she was actually joking while in the actual sense, she was damn serious.
To her question, Zhang Mingyu sensed the annoyance deeply laced in her tone and quickly responded. "You don't have to."
"Good." Zhang Liling replied as her fake smile quickly disappeared from her face, leaving behind a mean look.
Without another word, she walked past him to go into the large working space he was coming from, only to almost bump into a young girl about her age who was somehow in a rush.
"Oh! I'm sorry." Mikayla quickly apologized before rushing ahead after realizing that she had almost bumped into someone she was too busy to notice.
"Is everyone in this company always in such a mad rush?" Zhang Liling muttered under her breath.
First it was her fake half-brother and next, it was some random girl.
Zhang Liling was thinking that Mikayla was only a random office girl until she heard her call out to Zhang Mingyu so sweetly just after she had barely taken two steps ahead.
"Mingyu, wait up." Mikayla called out as a smile graced her lips.
Instantly, Zhang Mingyu's defence was on the rise as his gaze darted around but seeing no one in sight, he sighed in relief before resting his gaze on her.
"What if someone heard you? You have to be careful even if there is no one in sight." He hurriedly cautioned her, afraid of what her rash actions would have led to.
"I'm sorry. I was just overly excited." Mikayla apologized as she quickly followed him down the hallway with the stack of files in her hands.
On the other hand, Zhang Liling who had listened in on their entire conversation before the remaining words on their lips faded away as they moved further away, shuddered in realization.
"She is Zhang Mingyu's girlfriend? The one Tungmei talked about?"
Suddenly, her mood soared with the information dawning on her and without wasting time, she hurriedly went to find Tungmei as a crazy idea struck her mind.
She couldn't miss this scene, never. Her old man could wait in his office all he liked, or even leave the entire building.
Worse come to worst if she goes to look for him and doesn't find him, she would call him on the phone.
