Chapter 5: Relics Forest
Like an arrow time flew by. It appeared like yesterday, but a few years had passed since the Wang tribe witnessed the birth of a baby boy to the head of the tribe.
The tribe was peacefully ruled by the patriarch, Wang Mu Tuo, despite them living at the edge of the dangerous Relics Forest. As one of the lowest and smallest tribe on the whole continent, their place was closer to the dangers of the forest.
The Ruins of Relics Forest was one of the most diverse forests on the Sacred Spirit Continent. The hills here were undulating, with a vast area, stretching tens of thousands of kilometers in length and width. There were three big rivers passing through the entire forest, which were several miles wide and of magnificent looks. There were also countless small rivers and gullies in the forest.
The reason why it was said to be the most diverse was that the terrain in this forest was complex and changeable. With more than half of the tree species on the Sacred Spirit Continent, and it was named because of the ancient relics in the central area.
But because the forest, especially the central part, was occupied by demons, and there were more powerful monsters in its central area, very few people ever ventured deep into the forest. Many monsters with powerful cultivation bases were generally entrenched in the central area of ??the forest. The closer they were to the edge of the forest, the lower the monsters’ cultivation bases were.
Therefore, there were many racial tribes in the surrounding area of ??the Relics Forest, who lived by hunting beasts and demons.
On this day, and at this moment, three people were walking faster into the darkness of the forest. It seemed they were looking for someone. As they moved into the forest, holding sticks of light torches, they kept shouting.
.....
“Wei!”
“Son, where are you?!”
“Son!”
The group of three was made up of one man and two women. The two women were wearing tight animal skins. Their long dark hair were tied behind their heads with ornamental ropes made from animal skins.
Looking at the two women, one would discover that their appearances were exactly the same. The only difference was that one of them had a white leather straps on her head while the other had a yellow-coloured one. With their delicate faces and beautiful fur head ropes, they looked really pretty, free and easy. By their looks, they appeared to be around fifteen or sixteen years of age.
Each of the women was holding a pair of long daggers in each hand. Their faces were full of anxiety as they continued to move forward.
The man among them was about twenty years old. He was of medium build, held a longbow, and was carrying a quiver full of feather arrows on his back.
Along with the girls, he was walking further into the forest, searching for the missing person. “Wei, where are you?”
“This is all your fault. Why did you have to leave him all alone?” The woman with the white headband was complaining bitterly to the other woman.
The girl with the yellow hair-band cried out, and explained in a hurry. “He asked me to find him more rope. I didn’t know that if I leave him for a while, he would be gone.”
The two continued to argue, time after time, and then, they would look around and shout anxiously.
“Son, where are you?”
“Son, come back.”
After searching for a while with no luck, the man couldn’t help but ask. “Are you sure the boy entered this forest?”
“It had to be. I mean, he was weaving a rope net before, saying that it was used to catch monsters.”
“Yes, we found that the boy and the rope have both disappeared. He must have come here to catch some beasts after he finished weaving it.”
As the three of them were talking, a loud sound suddenly came from the depths of the forest.
“ROOAAARRR.”
Immediately afterwards, there was the crackling sound of branches and leaves caused by the crushing weight of a large animal.
“Oh no, it’s the bear demon. Follow me.” The man yelled. He quickly took a feather arrow and put it on the string, and ran towards the source of the sound. The two women also followed closely with their long iron daggers.
Further down the forest, a big black bear, with a height of more than two meters, was roaring angrily. It appeared to be provoked, and was displaying its anger.
The source of its anger was a little boy of five years of age, wearing a white animal skins that covered his body perfectly, standing in front of the bear.
Despite his small stature, the boy let the bear demon came after him. When the bear was about to pounce, the boy always slipped away at a critical moment. From time to time, he would turn around and throw a stone at the bear demon, and the angry bear demon would respond with a roar and a swipe of its claws from time to time.
A number of honeysuckle kept jumping up from the ground, trying to entangle and kill the little boy on the spot. It was a fortunate situation for the boy that he was very agile and flexible. He was constantly changing his directions of movement. Hence, the attacks sent by the bear demon always failed.
Seeing a giant tree of more than one hundred meters high blocking its way, the bear demon angrily slammed its four paws on the ground. It let out an angry roar, ready to jump forward.
Then, at this exact moment, more than a dozen spikes rushed up from both sides of the giant tree like two walls, blocking the boy’s path. In the eyes of the bear demon, the little boy’s was already on the meat plate. Even when it sprang forward, its saliva flew out in anticipation.
At this critical juncture, suddenly a shout came from the forest: “Master, be careful.”
A few seconds later, a feather arrow steadily pierced into the eyes of the bear demon with a thudding sound, and the tip of the arrow even went through the back of the bear’s head. The bear demon came to a stop, let out a stern roar, and fell to the ground. After an heartbeat or two, it died.
Immediately afterwards, a man and two women stepped into the open from the shadows of the trees.
The boy walked up to the dead bear demon and looked down at it. He wiped the sweat from his forehead, shook his head and sighed. “Oh, what a pity. I could have caught it.”
Looking up, the boy saw the three familiar faces running over to where he was, and remembered the trap he had laid for the bear. He quickly raised his hand, shouting, “stop, don’t come any closer.”
