3981 Scales

The monster kept staring at me for a couple of seconds, before slowly getting up, showing more of itself.

It is a reptile with a green back scale.

I looked into its eyes and knew; it was considering me as its prey. It also seemed to know, that I am not weak, and thus, the faint hesitation in its eyes.

My heart started to beat wildly seeing it.

However, it is not the only thing that is running. My thoughts are running faster, trying to find how it could avoid my stealth dispute being so close to me.

I had kept my soul sense weak intentionally here, but still, it shouldn't have been able to come so close to me, without me discovering it.

'It may be those scales,' I thought as my gaze moved from its eyes to its scales.

It seemed to have gained the power of stealth from the wonder. It is far harder for the fauna to do it than the flora, but it happens.

'Is stealth being the only thing, it has gained from the wonder?' I asked myself.

Seconds passed when it moved. Its movements were stealthy, despite it being in front of me. that it took me a fraction of a second to realize it was coming at me.

It also has thick, long legs with extended black claws that won't have any problem tearing through me.

So fast, that it took, less than a second to reach and attack me with a lance of energy coming out of its mouth.

All the monsters I had come across in here, didn't need me to use the burst, but this one attacked me with energy, and I activated the burst.

I defended against the dark green lance and my arms nearly shook.

I didn't expect, the energy attack would be so powerful.

It is, and I didn't have time to be surprised as another more, powerful attack is coming at me. If I didn't defend it, it would slice me in two.

I harnessed more power and brought my sword toward the thing, that crossed my inner range.

I stopped the sharp tail; that shook my whole body, nearly making me take a step back.

Like the energy attack earlier. The attack is of pure physical power. If I hadn't been strong and prepared; it would have thrown me in a pillar behind me.

It roared at me; surprised, that I was able to defend against its attack.

The monsters here are powerful, but this is more than the monsters of this place. Most of the people wouldn't survive its first attack.

If they did, somehow, the second one would take it.

It clearly has the power of wonder. I could see its energy and it was the only way, it could be as strong as it is right now.

"I have been searching for an opponent like you, while I would have liked to fight in a much safer place. I would take the opportunity as it came," I said to it.

I had covered the area with a ball. I had activated them with their full power.

They are even burning, the forbidden power I had stored in them to be used in special circumstances.

These are the special circumstances where I couldn't risk even the slightest energy leaking from our battle. If any wonder reacted, it would be disastrous.

It looked at me with those eyes, before opening its mouth and shooting another lance at me from point black range.

I could also see the energy coming out of its tail, which gripped my sword.

The monster is smart.

CLANG!

The attack stopped before it could reach me. A shield appeared in front of me, that had not only defended against the attack but also absorbed its full power.

"You will have to do far more than this to stop me, little monster," I said to the monster.

"Roar!"

It seemed to understand the tease as it roared, before attacking me with those enormous claws.

They are fast and covered in dense energy.

I released one hand from my sword, holding on against the tail, and a saber appeared in it, which I moved toward the coming claw.

CLANNG!

I stopped the attack, and the arm shook heavily. The saber is good; I had forged it myself, but it's not my totem artifact.

Though it is good enough to deal with the attacks of the monster in front of me.

I looked at the monster with a smile on my face. It had entered a funny pose to attack me from the claws and the tail.

It roared and attacked me with its tail again.

Seconds passed, and we kept fighting, while everything we released was quickly absorbed by the balls. Including the tremors of the earth.

If I didn't have the confidence to stop everything from the fight, I wouldn't have fought it all.

Over a minute had passed when suddenly, the monster stopped.
