Blasting off the confines of space with enough force to shatter the void, Noctem twisted like a burning black sun and whipped in a half-arc towards the Teleth, who acted instantly in an attempt to block, but as my spear landed against Atonement, the cry of metal hissed as a shooting star shrieked over the horizon.
"Heavenly Bind!" I shouted towards the flying body of the Teleth, pausing him mid-flight as another spell came to the tip of my tongue. "Devouring Night"
Mist sprang into creation, devouring matter, laws, and anything it touched till only an endless swirling black hole came into existence, swirling like a hollow vortex of death. Light began to flee and bend to no avail as gravity came calling, sucking everything in before Iluthath's greater laws awakened, banishing the catastrophe while also repairing the broken Laws.
Holding Noctem tighter as the crackles of my arms burned.
I stared grimly at the barren battlefield in a guarded stance when suddenly, two arms came out of the void, tearing it away like paper.
My battle prowess is far higher… But he's still alive? That should have killed him! Does he have a hax like me?
Skin bubbling and popping, the grotesque creature cracked in laughter as Atonement materialized back into his hand. The Teleth growled, licking its withered lips, actually began to… Heal.
"That's not possible! My intent should—"
"He's a Teleth, and they don't fucking make sense. Go in for the kill. Stop being amazed!" Lily hissed in response.
Shadow stepping into range, my knee caved his head as Noctem tore through his gut in a swift instantaneous slash. Intrales spilled out as I activated Demonic Resonance to ensure all my moves were based on a higher dimension fighting style.
And yet, to my amazement, this bastard began to regenerate everything spilling out of him. He smiled and opened his mouth as divinity began to form, and without hesitation, I instantly moved to his flank as Noctem swept over his head, cutting it off.
"Intent doesn't work… how—"
"It's not that it doesn't work. It's just there is nothing for it to work on. The body of a Teleth doesn't exist in the natural order. That body you are cutting down over and over is not real, at least in the eyes of the Laws. They affect each other sure, but all effects are temporary."
"That's why you said to burn it away to nothing," I said when a dreadful thought came to me. " This disease, does it affect higher beings?"
"... It does. Every angel is prey to this disease. But it only occurs when death is involved."
Studying the corpse of the Teleth as its head and body began to crawl back to one another, I pointed with Noctem, and a geyser of Abyssal Flames scorched the head, burning it out of existence in a blink of an eye.
The body of the Teleth went limp for a second and shuttered before something impossible began to occur. Its head began to reform. Catching the entire body on fire, the crackles of flesh burning came into my ear for a second or two and faded. Only for me to frown as the organs that had fallen over the ground began to grow in size.
"This is broken! What the hell!"I shouted.
"Yup. I think so too." Lily added, " But it's limited to a few kilometers from where the main body is killed."
Burning everything down till only a world of ash was around me, I sighed before dematerializing Noctem before it turned my entire arm to ash.
"Oh, if you use their sword against them, they just die… Did I forget to tell you that? Oops, my bad. I forgot. I'm used to being silent in battle."
Taking hold of my smoldering arm, sweat trickled down my cheeks in streams as I took a seat on the ash, lamenting my choices. "Explain. How is such a thing possible?"
"The One and the All exist outside Natural Law, they are beings that can't be described, and the Teleth are about the same. Not in power but in their State of Being: My theory is that Balor touched upon a truth he wasn't meant to. His state of being changed, and it affected causality."
"So the only way to kill one is to use… what's it called? Atonement against them?" Lily hummed in the affirmative, but that did nothing to make me feel better. My eyes skimmed over the battlefield finding the golden sword piercing up from where it landed, and with a gesture of my finger, it flashed into my hand.
"Surely this is something that Zariel has to stop, right?" I asked, staring at the razor-sharp edge of the sword.
"Zariel would be able to kill them without a gold sword because he can manipulate Natural law, but if he wants to get rid of the scourge, then who knows? You'll have to ask him." Lily said as her voice grew weak and faint.
Knowing she had drained some energy looking for answers in the abyss, I sighed. And glanced at my arms slowly beginning to heal with the Divinity of Sin.
"Fucking Balor. I wonder how this will all affect you? Will I need to drag you before the One to kill you, or will you die to one of your race's soul weapons?" Shaking my head with little effort, I rose to my feet and pushed out my senses to Ezra, walking back with a cold expression.
"Found any?"
"Nope, it was empty… but I felt that disgusting seraphic energy around this village. Quite a few angels were here. But not anymore."
"That's concerning. These Teleth don't even behave like angels anymore. I wonder if they'll even be allowed to go through the silver gates within the Seven Heavens."
Creating some bandages for my arm, my lips curled even deeper down as I glanced over at the destroyed village. " that man… the one who approached us earlier. Who do you think he is to hold such a soul weapon?"
Ezra's scarlet eyes darkened, leaving only a burning glow, " Who knows. By the time I arrived to kill any Angels I had found, he was gone."
