Alex stopped using his eyes of ancient to witness the changes to the appearance of Fulgor, whose golden hair was now tendrils of pristine white lightning, with his skin turning as white as snow and visible underneath it was nothing but tongues of pulsing lightning.
It was a strange sight for Alex because, with a quick look with his eyes of the ancient, he knew that Fulgor's figure was neither entirely physical nor elemental, as it constantly shifted between the two like a ghost going in and out of reality.
Alex had seen pure Elementals, whose entire being was of some element, yet even they had physical organs essential to maintain their life, but the same did not seem to be the case for Fulgor, as in one instant, his heart, lungs, brain and other organs were physical and the next they were nothing but a raging cluster of lightning.
The other thing that Alex noticed was that Fulgor's vitality, which had stayed at above 90%, was rapidly draining, as if whatever skill he was using was burning through it with an insane speed.
Fulgor's joyous laughter reverberated through the surroundings, appearing to be a mix of human and crackling thunder.
The sky underwent a drastic change as the once-clear sky began to get shrouded in dense clouds of pure crackling white lightning that covered tens of meters with each passing moment.
Fulgor was losing 2% health with each passing moment, yet he did not seem bothered by the urgency of his situation, keeping his eyes set on the Quetzalcoatl, who had a storm of elemental fury raging around him, the damage to his body almost fully recovered and the effect of its primal rage removing the limitation on his body, pushing him to his peak.
Alex kept charging his blade for a final attack but slowed down the mana output, recognizing that maybe he still had a chance to bridge the damage contribution and secure a victory.
While in his current state, a fight against the Quetzalcoatl, who outclassed him in every aspect, could certainly end in his first-ever official death.
But Alex could care less about it when a promising battle with stakes even higher than his clash against the fallen Seraphian was being offered to him.
"RRROOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
'Let's make these few seconds memorable,' Alex thought as he heard the guttural roar that shocked the very fabric of space.
Alex arrived right before the Quetzalcoatl in the dead center of the swirling storm of elemental fury using the void step and swung his blade powered by nearly four million mana.
As the vast reserve of darkness was released from the thin blade, it moved at a speed that made Alex nearly lose his grip, and because he held on, the sheer pull instantly dislocated his shoulders and tore his muscles apart.
However, the single slash was worth the damage to his body as the blade sliced through the raging elements emanating from the Quetzalcoatl and even tore through his body with little to no resistance, but no matter how small the window of exchange was the monstrosity before Alex reacted to it.
The creature not only took a step back to avoid his form getting sliced in half but even swung his claw that came for his head, aiming to rip it off, yet it did nothing to Alex and phased through him like he was a ghost.
Alex had come prepared, and just as he swung the blade, he activated the Chrono Displacement skill before instantly shifting out of sync with the time and space for one second, which was more than enough to save himself from a brutal exchange.
Alex had also yet to use even the Time Weave and Paradox Pulse, but they would only eat away at his mana and do little to nothing to the monstrosity he was up against.
The blade only tore through the chest, ribs, and some of the inside, but the creature was met head-on with a torrent of deteriorating darkness that drowned him in a tide of perpetual darkness that ate away his flesh and elements alike, subjecting him to mind-bending pain yet that only fueled his rage.
Alex was quick to use the phantom walk to bail out, his heart racing as he felt the rush of adrenalin, as he had just touched death and come back.
"I was getting a bit impatient," Fulgor's childish voice cut through the roaring of lightning above and the billowing elemental fury below.
Alex watched as eleven massive draconic heads hung from the lightning clouds above, their jaws wide open with small ords of lightning amassing inside each one, and as the sentence ended, eleven beams of blinding lightning were released cloaked in eleven thundering roars.
A massive explosion followed soon after as the white lightning descended on the torrent of gushing darkness, painting a dreaded yet pleasing sense of black and white, and seeing the intensity of it, Alex felt they might have a real good chance.
Alex used his darkness manipulation to pop his shoulders back, as his natural regeneration worked to repair the damage while he got back to preparing another strike.
While Alex only had mana for pair more attacks, that was not of concern because he could always return to his peak state before he joined the fight against Magnus.
But even then, he would stay mentally drained, and even with his tangible peak, he would be just a lamb ready to be slaughtered, so he needed to ensure his last pair strikes did the most damage.
Alex kept his eyes peeled, waiting for the Quetzalcoatl to tear through the dome of lightning and darkness, with a small system window at the corner of his notifying him that he had 3.1% damage with his last strike, a disappointing number but one that he expected.
Alex saw a blur and felt the incoming threat, and he immediately got out of sync with space and time, making his form intangible, and a mere fraction later, a claw ripped through his body.
Without a moment's delay, Alex used the void step to build distance, yet the instant he appeared hundreds of meters away, he could still sense the monstrous presence in the void.
So Alex could do nothing but try to chain in the second step before the timer of intangibility ran out, and while he failed to do it in time, luck seemed to be still on his side.
The speed at which Quetzalcoatl was moving was nothing but a blur to Alex, but it seemed the same was not true for Fulgor, as he came like a bolt of lightning, kicking the creature in the face.
There was a massive impact followed by a shock wave of immense kinetic energy and lightning buildup, sending the creature flying back like a bullet and forcing Alex to slide back.
'Well, it looks like using the Monarch Aura three times in four weeks has really affected my senses,' Alex thought, knowing that with his boosted mental capability because of Arcane Trance, he should not be so outclassed to not even see the attack coming.
But Alex could not complain at this point, not when the Quetzalcoatl health was down by 5.7%, meaning they just needed to drop it by another 7% to gain a crushing victory, so he clenched his jaw and made a last push.
