"Summoner, Do you have some life left to end what you started?" Alex heard a familiar voice, loud and clear, not drowning under the growing noise of space being torn apart.
Amidst the deafening cacophony of space tearing apart, a symphony of screeches and shattering glass that would shatter the mind of ordinary humans, Alex heard Vorinax's voice, and following that, he also caught the guttural screams of agony from Daenal.
Alex felt the grip around his neck loosen and the confinement keeping him frozen in place, so he opened his eyes and was welcomed with the unbelievable sight of Daenal's proud face twisted out of shape, showing the agony he was going through.
But what surprised Alex was a massive tear ripping through the domain, as the once vast expanse of murky gray and darkness was now crumbling, revealing the chaos of the outside battlefield, but his surprise didn't end with that.
The domain was forcefully torn apart from the outside, and as hard of a pill it was to swallow, Alex knew it was possible, but overpowering the domain and destroying it were two completely separate matters, with the latter being extremely challenging to achieve unless someone stronger then the domain caster put efforts into destroying it.
As the domain was shattered with a single attack, without giving Daenal any time to defend, the attacks were at least peak Seventh Rank, if not early Eight Rank or higher, and one with vast destructive might.
So when Alex looked above and saw Vorinax standing in the sky, his appearance had a stark change, with all the tattoos covering his exposed left side pulsing with dim power that was diminishing by the moment, with the mask covering his eyes and forehead gone.
Vorinax had ghostly white eyes adorned with concentric circles of gray, with thin, straight lines adorning his forehead and the sides of his eyes, and the most striking thing about him was his figure, which was vanishing and reappearing at the same place.
Vorinax looked at Alex before his eyes closed, and he began to freefall to the ground.
In the heat of the moment, Alex pushed Daenal arms away and rushed to save him, but he stopped after a single step as his subconscious, which was still coping with the fact that Vorinax was the one to shatter the domain, told him that he was making the wrong move and wasting the grand opportunity given to him.
Alex pushed every thought aside and began pumping his sword with as much destructive darkness as he could while he monitored Daenal body condition, ready to deliver the attack at the slightest clue that he was back to his senses.
Alex had no clue how Vorinax could shatter the domain of an Elemental Ruler, even if it was a fairly weak domain, and doing so placed him out of battle, but he could not be more thankful to him.
At this point, it was hard to say whether Alex was pushing his luck or just being cautious by preparing a strong attack and not attacking the semi-knocked-out Daenal, knowing that without the domain, the result of his attacks would be much different than last time.
After six seconds, the majority of the domain fell apart, leaving the due and only the patch of land surrounding them, and as he was reaching his limit, Alex firmly gripped the blade, taking a step back before swinging with all his might.
The dark blade met with Daenal's shoulder, its speed and strength exhilarated by the concentrated flow of energy, making it tear through the mage's robe, the light armor worn underneath, and skin, flesh, and bone without facing any real resistance.
The sword was stopped once it reached the center of the chest, and in the same instant, the massive slash of energy took Daenal with him, tearing through the ground, devouring everything that came in its path, and even tearing through the barely standing city wall.
A massive wall of darkness was tearing through the beasts and humans alike for a moment, separating the battlefield into two, only stopping once it reached close to tens of meters into the city, destroying tens of houses in its wake.
The majority of strong humans and beasts were not engaged in battle as seconds ago, they had witnessed one of the outsiders tear open the elemental domain, and now saw Alex deliver an attack that certainly did some damage to the fallen Seraphian.
Alex began preparing another attack, his entire body screaming with pain, especially his arms, as his bones had cracked, muscles and skin were ripped apart, but he knew better to waste time thinking his attack took care of the Daenal.
As he expected, only two seconds had passed when he heard a booming noise followed by the spear that came zooming for his head, and he avoided it with ease.
Daenal rose through the rubble, the wound on his chest and face cloaked in murky dark energy, with his gaze pulsing with wild rage as he stared at Vorinax, whom the city defenders were carrying into the city safe area, and an instant later, he vanished.
'Not on my watch,' Alex thought as he appeared next to the group carrying Vorinax, but when he sensed him vanish from his senses, he couldn't help but curse and go to the sky once more and race to the city palace.
Daenal had finally ceased paying Alex any attention and was rushing to the palace to stop Galatan, but Alex couldn't leave him as just around four minutes had passed, and he had yet to see any signs of the ancient weapon coming to life.
Alex rushed to interrupt Daenal, but it was impossible to catch him now that he was focused on not engaging him and had already built distance, so even though he used his magical prowess to hinder him, it did nothing.
Alex reached the palace right behind Daenal, who threw two massive beams of energy at the two elders guarding it and also summoned a horde of undead ghouls and skeletons.
Daenal tore through the walls of the palace one after another and entered the grand chamber, but it didn't delay Alex as he used Stygian lances to tear a path and rushed into the palace.
As Alex penetrated the chamber, hopping luck could be on his side just for once more so this madness could end, and it put a smile on his face seeing Daenal lunging his spear forth with all his might, yet it was blocked by a golden barrier surrounding patriarch Galatan.
The chamber was large, and in its center sat patriarch Galatan with his eyes closed, and right behind him stood a towering statue of white marble that Alex found to be the ancient weapon.
The Angle's Wrath was a four-meter tall golem of a Seraphian Man made from marble, adorned in silver and golden armor, and holding a long sword with both hands, with the blade facing down, his wings spread apart, standing right behind the meditating patriarch Galatan.
Daenal did not immediately use his domain, most likely because he was still recovering from the mental backlash, so for the time being, he could only hope to stop his brother from completing the preparation.
Daenal stood before the barrier with his hand placed on it that pulsed with dark energy, so without delay, Alex moved, not attacking with his elemental prowess, not wanting to aid in breaking the barrier, but he did bind his body in place with Stygian Chains.
"GET LOST, YOU INSIGNIFICANT ANT!" Daenal bellowed, unleashing a surge of death miasma that sent Alex stumbling backward from its sheer force.
Alex used darkness to defend and followed it by throwing chains to keep him in place, and instantly took one of the destruction knives from his waist, throwing it at Daenal before swiftly picking the second knife and activating both Decay Surge and Impact Release skills.
Daenal did not feel any threat, so he waited to defend keeping his focus on the touch of decay to erode the barrier, but the juncture the harmless knife touched his back, he felt his breath knocked out of him before he was yanked away from the barrier in the small moment of invulnerability.
Alex yanked Daenal closer, and, letting go of the destruction knife, he picked the space knife, and as he got within arm's arrive of the target, he swung with all his might and used the Space Slash skill.
The knife cleaved through the air, effortlessly slicing through armor, flesh, and bone in a single swift motion.
But at the same time, Daenal thrust his spear forward, driving it into Alex's chest and obliterating both his hearts with a surge of decay that ravaged his insides, while with his left hand already shrouded in decay, he seized Alex's face, disintegrating his skin, muscles, and bone with a relentless grip.
It was a brutal exchange that allowed Alex to deliver another critical blow, but in exchange, he was on the brink of death.
But he knew it was the only way to buy a few more seconds, and then he could only hope things turned out right, and he was not disappointed as just before he lost his vision, he observed patriarch Galatan rising to his feet.
