Chapter 74: Dinnertime
Su Yu chuckled as she looked Chu Yaoyao up and down. She shook her head. “Don’t tell me they’re docking your allowance because they know you aren’t blood. Why would I want to stalk you? Out of jealousy?”
It was rubbing salt into Chu Yaoyao’s wound. She hated it when people made fun of her lineage. “You’re only a country girl who knows of nothing. It must be your first time around such a lush place.”
It was a premier shopping mall—any random purchase would have cost them hundreds of thousands. Since when did Su Yu become rich? No, she was just like Lin Sisi. A low-class prostitute.
When Chu Yaoyao came to her conclusion, her mood brightened up instantly. The gaze she gave Su Yu shifted into disdain.
“Yaoyao!” Brows creasing, Fu Yunian threw an ice-cold stare at her.
Su Yu rolled her eyes. “Not everyone’s an ass-kisser like you, okay? I don’t even care.”
“Argh! How dare you talk to me like that?” Chu Yaoyao lost her cool, the stomping of her heels on the ground ear-piercing. “You’d better teach her a lesson, Yunian!”
“Chu Yaoyao. If you’re going to act out right here, get out and go home,” Fu Yunian scolded.
It took Su Yu by surprise. Were they in the past, he would’ve taken Chu Yaoyao’s side and insulted her instead. The sharp contrast of her reminiscence made the curve on her lips even more ironic. Just how ignorant was she back then?
The rubbernecks continued to stare, curiosity—and perhaps something else—filling their eyes. Chu Yaoyao began to feel uneasy. Knowing the thick makeup on her face couldn’t hide her embarrassed flush, she shot Su Yu a glare, grabbed her shopping bag from the counter, and stormed off. Only the affluent and famed shop there, with most of them being the daughters of the wealthy. She couldn’t risk being recognized by anyone, which would leave her too humiliated to hang around anymore.
Su Yu knew well that Chu Yaoyao was obsessed with keeping up appearances. By making a move, the quiet had replaced the rowdiness. Finally.
After snapping out of it, she realized Fu Yunian had been gaping, dazed. “She’s gone. Don’t just stand around—you should hurry if you want to catch up,” Su Yu reminded with impatience.
His brows furrowed, seemingly upset. “Don’t mind her. She’s just a spoiled kid throwing a tantrum.”
She couldn’t believe her ears—a spoiled kid throwing a tantrum? “I do remember that she’s older than I am. Don’t you see how inappropriate that sounds?”
She was about to leave when he stopped her, “It’s time for dinner. Let’s grab something. We need to talk it out.”
She jerked the hand off her arm, dusting away the invisible dirt, and took two steps back. She smiled. “I don’t think there’s any misunderstanding between us. Our divorce is over. That’s it. The only thing I’m looking forward to is you not appearing anywhere in my sight ever again. We’re done here.”
Su Lingan came forward when he saw the two from afar, taking Su Yu into his arms. He shot Fu Yunian a warning glare, disbelieved how the annoying man across him showed up when he was merely minutes late. He had already made plans with Su Yu to eat out tonight, which he offered that she hung around first.
“Well, well, well. Fancy seeing you here, Mr. Fu. Weren’t you hurt? I see you had a speedy recovery. Shocking as always, aren’t you?” Su Lingan mocked.
