A strange white and blue hue shone around Harry for a few seconds before gradually seeping into his skin. Harry didn't know it yet but the strange white streak had just saved his life.
***
Harry slowly opened his eyes, the first thing that appeared in his line of sight was a white ceiling.
"What….. happ…ened?" His memories from the previous day seemed foggy, almost as if he had just woken up from a dream.
'A… dream? Was… it a…. dream?' His thoughts were still foggy.
'There… was a… beast… Mana Beast!!!!' He exclaimed inwardly as all that happened the previous day started flooding back into his head.
He looked to his right side, he saw a white window with blue curtains, the curtains were opened, giving way for the gentle rays of the morning sun to seep into the room.
Harry then looked at his body…. He saw try that he was lying down on a bed.
'Huh? Since when did I have a bed. Or…' The thought of all his life being a bad dream that he just woke up from popped up in his mind, but he immediately discarded it. He knew it wasn't a dream—no matter how he wished it was.
He noticed he was still in the academy's uniform, he looked at the white bed once more. He knew he didn't have a bed in his room so he concluded that he was in a hospital.
He had no idea how he got to the hospital, all he knew was that he passed out from the stupid mana beast's kick.
His hand subconsciously drifted to his chest, where he was hit by the mana beast. He wasn't able to find any injury, not even a sign that his ribs were formerly broken—they had all healed. This only made him sure that he was truly in a hospital.
He was even panicking, he had no money to pay for the bills, how was he treated then? He wasn't feeling any pain, it was as if the mana beast attack was merely a dream.
Even his cheeks that were swollen from Han's spell had now healed.
"Who brought me to this hospital? I really thought I was dead." he kept on muttering to himself.
'Or was I kidnap—' He brushed that thought off immediately, why would someone kidnap him? He was—
The slight creaking sound of the door broke him off his thoughts.
He immediately turned his head and looked towards the door.
A man who looked like he was in his early thirties walked into the room. A sigh escaped his lips as he looked at Harry.
"Are you okay? How are you feeling now?" The man said.
Harry wasn't really focused on the man's words as he started observing him. The man had black hair, along with black eyes. He was quite tall with a height of 1.7m, his posture seemed to be giving off some kind of authority.
When the man noticed the scrutinizing gaze Harry was giving him he raised his brow a little in surprise. "Ohhh I'm Terry by the way. I'm a representative of the AMO." he said as he realized that he still hadn't introduced himself. He dipped his hand into his pockets and brought out a rectangular badge. He slowly raised the badge up to prove the validity of his words.
'A representative from the Adventurer mages organization?' Harry thought as he observed the badge on the man's hand. After noticing the AMO logo on the badge, a slight feeling of dread washed over him, he felt he had disrespected the man with his earlier actions.
'Guess it all makes sense now, the AMO arrived late and killed the mana beast… They also brought me to the hospital,' Harry thought. He still didn't know that the strange white streak was what caused the mana beast's death—He still thought it was only his imagination. He believed the AMO killed the mana beast.
'An adventurer? What sort of trouble have I gotten myself into?' He then tried to apologize.
Terry, realizing what Harry was about to do waved his hand in a nonchalant manner.
"You don't need to apologize, the AMO should be the ones apologizing to you for arriving late and also endangering your life and also other innocent people's lives." He said. Without even waiting for Harry's reply, he turned around and started walking towards the door.
"Someone wants to speak with you Harry." Those where the words that drifted into Harry's ears as Terry finally left the room.
Harry's brows raised slightly when he heard Terry words, he was surprised that Terry knew his name.
A few seconds later, the door opened again and this time another man came into the ward. There was a gentle smile on his face as he stared at Harry's figure lying on the hospital bed. His face radiated with a strange glow that seemed to have the ability to induce calmness into anybody.
He slowly walked towards Harry and then sat down on the black chair positioned right beside the hospital bed. "So how are you feeling now?" he said in a calm voice.
His appearance could be described as handsome with straight white hair and a short white beard.
He looked to be in in earlier forties but that might not be the case as mana helped humanity overcome one of their biggest problems—body aging and short lifespan.
Mana replenished the human body, making it look far younger. Their lifespan also increased greatly as even someone with a stage one mana core had a lifespan of at least 120 years.
"I feel fine." Harry replied. He was surprised as to how his injuries healed only in a day but he brushed it off feeling that they probably used a high-grade healing potion or pill on him. After all, with the immense rise and development in technology, injuries that would normally take weeks or even months could be healed in a few seconds all with a single healing pill or potion.
The white-haired man nodded his head. As if he was able to read Harry's mind he said, "That's good. I healed your earlier injuries with my light element so don't be too surprised about that."
Harry nodded his head in understanding. 'So he's a light mage.' Harry thought to himself.
The light element was known mainly for it's healing properties so it wasn't too surprising that Harry's injuries managed to heal within a short time.
However, he couldn't brush the strange feeling rising up within him. Although the white haired man looked ordinary, Harry knew he was anything but ordinary. After all, Terry, the representative sent from the AMO seemed to have some sort of respect for the man beside him. That was also why he came to the conclusion that the white haired man must be a powerful mage.
'Why do I feel like this man isn't just here to check on how I'm doing?' He thought. He kept trying to brush that feeling off but failed miserably.
Meanwhile, the white haired man slowly relaxed his back on the black chair. He slightly squinted his eyes as he stared at Harry. His thoughts were in a mess as he couldn't wrap his head around what really happened the previous day.
'How did that mana beasts die? I can't sense any mana from this boy, he doesn't even have a mana core, his mana core foundation is shattered… It was a peak stage four mana beast that was on the verge of breaking through to stage five, and yet it looked like it died in one… simple attack,' He thought.
He came to this city a few days ago for an 'official business', he was supposed to leave today but that was when something shocking happened—A mana beast attack.
According to the information he received, the mana beast was said to be at the fourth stage, it wasn't just a stage four mana beast though; it was one about to break through to the fifth stage.
And yet when the AMO got to the location of the mana beast, it was dead. That wasn't the shocking part though, the strangest thing about the mana beast's death was how it died—through a clean shot to the head. There was no sign of struggle or even resistance from the said beast.
He had used his mana sense to check Harry's body while he was unconscious. His first thought was that Harry was a powerful mage who decided to live a low profile—Although the theory didn't really seem plausible.
But after throughly observing Harry using his mana sense, the white-haired man discovered another thing: Harry didn't even have a mana core foundation talk-less of a stage six mana core. Though, he found this situation strange, he didn't dwell too much on it.
Harry's heart started beating faster, even though he tried not to show it, he was inwardly sweating buckets. The white haired man had been silent for a few minutes, the only thing he did was stare at Harry. This one served to increase the foreboding feeling in Harry's heart. 'I hope I'm not in trou—'
"The mana beast from yesterday, I mean the one that attacked you. It was dead when the AMO got there, did you kill it yourself or did someone else arrive before the adventurers?" The white-haired man suddenly asked.
