Jack's POV
I was waiting for them to come home since I wanted to speak with Charlotte, but I realized she wouldn't talk with me. She was still upset that she saw me kissing Cecily, so I hoped my friend was right, but I didn't think Ces could be right.
My lady boss was only angry because we were both her employees, and she didn't want our work to be affected if our relationship became shaky. And I was stupid for thinking she was upset because she really liked me.
I was lying on my bed, but I couldn't sleep. I called my sister, Lianne, since I missed her so much at a time like this; she is not only a sister to me but my best friend, too.
"Are you okay, Jack? You will not be calling me at this hour if you only want to ask how I am doing?" She asked when she answered my call, and I shook my head; my sister knew me too well.
"I am fine, Lianne. I was busy the entire day, and I didn't have the time to call you." I responded.
"Liar, spit it out, Jack," she replied, and I let out a soft sigh.
"It is Charlotte," I responded.
"What did she do to you? You always have a choice, brother; leave if you are unhappy over there. You don't need Hunter's money." She replied.
"And the last thing you need is his spoiled brat sister, who is giving you a hard time," Lianne replied.
"Hey, Charlotte is not what you think, Li," I declared, and she laughed.
"Oh? No! Don't tell me you are falling for her, Jack?" My sister asked, and I was speechless.
"Oh, no, this is bad," she added while I fell silent.
"Are you still there? I am not judging you, Jack, but we both knew how she made Maddie's life miserable." Lianne declared.
"Of course, but she has her reasons, and she regretted those things, Li. I wish you would come here and know the real Charlotte Divenson," I replied, and it was her turn to feel silent.
"I couldn't believe you would say that Jack; you hated her for all she had done to Madeline." She stated.
"Yes, before I know the real Charlotte, she is not the spoiled brat we know, Li, and she has changed a lot since she stayed here in Barcelonia," I responded.
"Oh, boy, you are really in love with her," my sister said.
"Yeah, I am, and I hate feeling this way," I answered, and my sister laughed.
"Why?" She asked.
"It drives me crazy, and I wanted her so much that it hurts. I made a stupid mistake, and now, she is avoiding me." I responded and narrated to her everything that had happened between Charlotte and me.
"Oh, you are in big trouble, Jack." She declared after sharing with her what happened to us.
"Yeah, I know," I replied.
"Well, it seemed she was also into you," Lianne responded.
"You think?" I asked, feeling excited.
"Of course, can't you read her reactions? She is definitely jealous of this Cecily girl. I couldn't wait to be there with you and witness your love story." She declared.
"Can you come and visit me?" I asked.
"Sure, why not? I can trust the manager to run your restaurant here. I can be there with you as long as you want me to be there." My sister replied with excitement in her voice.
"Really? It would be great, Li. I want you here. I am losing my mind, and I don't know if what you were saying was true. I don't think she likes me based on her actions. I believed she hated me so much." I declared, and my sister chuckled.
"You can never tell what are her true feelings Jack. You know us, women are complicated in terms of telling our man what we really want. Sometimes, we blurted out things we didn't mean and kept the things that we really wanted you to hear." My sister responded.
"I will be there before you know it. Don't worry, and I will book as a guest of her vacation house, not as your guest. I will pay what is due. I had been dying to explore Barcelonia for a long time, and this is my chance; who knows, I will also find my soulmate there." She added, and I laughed.
"Come on, what happened to your latest boyfriend?" I asked.
"He was a jerk, and I am sorry I didn't listen to you." She answered.
"I am glad you dumped him. You deserve someone better," I replied.
"Yeah, I know. Anyway, I was waiting for the right man, and he wasn't the one, and I knew it from the very start. I just felt so lonely that I wanted us to work out even if I knew we didn't have anything in common. We argued in almost everything that we do." My sister responded.
"Well, I am not an expert in terms of love, but I think you will know it when it comes," I replied.
"I felt this before when I met Maddie, and I didn't expect I would fall in love again," I added.
"I know. I wished Madeline was the one for you, but you can never win her heart, and we both know you can't beat Hunter Divenson." My sister replied.
"Maybe it was because Charlotte is the right girl for you. I hated her, but after you told me her story, I guess she deserves a second chance." Lianne continued.
"Thank you, Li," I replied, and we talked some more. I only ended the call when I heard Hunter's voice outside my room.
"I am sorry for disturbing you, Jack, but I got a call, and I needed to go home." He said, and I furrowed my eyebrows as I listened to his explanation of why he needed to shorten his stay.
"Can you drive me to the airport tomorrow at dawn?" He asked.
"Of course, is Charlotte coming?" I asked.
"I am not sure. I haven't had the chance to tell her yet that I am leaving. I am sure she will be upset." Hunter responded.
"I knocked on her door, but she didn't answer. I guess she was sleeping already. It is past midnight; I don't want to disturb her." He added.
Hunter went back to his room, and I slowly got inside my own bedroom, thinking about his sister. I am excited that Lianne is coming to Barcelonia, and I hope she can help me with my problem with Charlotte.
I woke up early and didn't bother to take a bath, and when I met Hunter in the corridor with his sister, I felt conscious and regretted that I was wearing shorts and a sleeveless tank top. I should look good in front of her.
Charlotte looked so gorgeous, even if she was only wearing a simple dress. And I couldn't take my eyes away from her. She was avoiding my gaze and tried not to speak with me, but Hunter was doing his best to include me in their conversation as I drove to the airport.
After saying goodbye to her brother, she had no choice but to turn around and face me. She was difficult when I asked her to have breakfast with me, and it took a lot of my willpower not to kiss her after I pulled her closer to me.
Her scent alone was driving me mad, and her closeness was making my heart pound harder. I had to control my emotions since I didn't want her to be angry with me more.
"I am sorry. I know you don't want to have breakfast with me since I don't look presentable; you are ashamed of what I am wearing," I declared as I slowly released her from my hold.
"What? That is not true," she replied, and I hid my amusement as I looked at her beautiful face.
"Then prove it to me, Charlotte. I know I am just a mere employee, and I don't have any right to ask you to have breakfast with me. It was stupid of me to ask you such a request." I stated.
"I am sorry," I mumbled before I walked away from her, and my heart was racing as I heard her sweet voice calling my name.
"Jack, wait," she said, and I stopped walking and waited for her to continue talking.
"We can eat breakfast," she added, and I smiled before I turned around and faced her.
"Are you sure?" I asked, and she smiled at me as she nodded her head, and my stupid heart jumped against my chest as I stared at her.
"Oh, I haven't been in this place," Charlotte said as she looked around.
"They served the best breakfast in Barcelonia," I answered. I could see the excitement on her face, and I felt glad she was no longer wearing a long face.
"Are you ready to order?" I asked, and she put down the menu book and looked at me.
"I don't know what to choose. Can you do it for me?" She answered, and I beamed at her.
"Of course, try Bocadillos and fried eggs," I said.
"Okay, I want yogurt with fresh fruits," she replied.
I was watching her with awe as she ate her breakfast.
"Stop staring at me, Jack." She said and blushed.
"I am sorry, I just can't stop myself from looking at your beautiful face," I replied, and her face turned redder.
"Thank you for your compliment, but I think it would be best to save that for your girlfriend." She answered, and I shook my head.
"I don't have a girlfriend, Charlotte," I replied, and she looked at me with confusion on her face. I knew I needed to tell her everything if I wanted to win her heart, and I could no longer wait. I wanted her to be my girlfriend, and I wished she would not reject me.
