Chapter 36: The Performance
On the day of the kindergarten anniversary celebration, Zhang Li Xue woke up early and reminded everyone in the family to show up. Once everyone had confirmed that they would show up, Zhang Li Xue finally followed her auntie and let her send her over to the kindergarten.
When she arrived, the little girl quickly ran over to her classroom to meet up with her friends.
Because of their performance later, her teacher had arranged for everyone to wear pretty clothes.
The girls were wearing colorful dresses with flowers. Meanwhile, the boys were dressed handsomely in their suits.
Zhang Li Xue greeted her classmates before walking over to her table.
“Li Xue, your dress is very pretty!” Fang Su Jin complimented as she watched Li Xue put down her school bag on the table.
“Su Jin, your dress is very pretty as well. I love the tiny butterflies!” Zhang Li Xue stared at the tiny butterflies scattered on Fang Su Jin’s skirt. “They looked real.”
.....
Fang Su Jin smiled happily at her compliment. Soon, a few other girls walked over to their table and they began to compliment each other’s dresses.
Everyone was wearing pretty clothes. Naturally, the mood in the room was very good as well. Everyone was on their best behavior. They were worried that if they play around too much, they might dirty their clothes.
Later, their parents would come over to the kindergarten to watch their performance. Everyone wanted to let their parents see them wearing pretty dresses and sing.
Soon, their teacher walked into the class with their classmate, Lin Na. The girl was chosen to sing a few solo lines and followed their teacher to practice a little bit.
The kids gathered around and listened to their teacher’s instructions. Once their teacher had counted everyone, they started to walk towards the gymnasium together.
Zhang Li Xue walked into the gymnasium and sat together with both Fang Su Jin and Lin Na.
The gymnasium was decorated with pretty flowers and decorations. Some parents had entered the gymnasium to find a place for them to sit. The kids were excitedly trying to look for their family members.
“Li Xue, I saw my parents. They are here.” Fang Su Jin shook her friend’s arms. Then, she pointed toward the parents’ seat.
By now, many parents had taken their seats. Zhang Li Xue could not see Fang Su Jin’s parents. However, she did see hers.
At the door, her mother was supporting her father to walk slowly. Behind them were her great-grandfather, her favorite Aunt Yu Ying, and her Uncle Wei.
Thinking that everyone had come to see her class performance today made her excited. Suddenly, Zhang Li Xue was a little worried that she might make a mistake later on.
However, she did not have much time to ponder this matter.
Because they were the youngest, their performance was set to be earlier.
Their teacher called for everyone to gather before they lined up and walked towards the waiting area together.
After clapping twice, the teacher gave the class a few reminders. “Just remember to keep your eyes on your class monitor. Don’t make any move until he gives his signal. Alright. Don’t be too anxious. We have practiced this plenty of times before. Just go up there and have fun. Your parents will be watching you.”
Another teacher came out to remind them that it was time for their performance
Zhang Li Xue exchanged a glance with Fang Su Jin. Taking a deep breath, they walked to the stage and focused on their class monitor, waiting for him to give his signal.
The sound of the piano reverberated. Soon, Zhang Li Xue and her classmates began to sing together.
In the beginning, everyone was a little stiff. After all, this would be the first time they stood on the stage and performed in front of their parents. However, a while later, they began to get hold of this situation and relaxed.
Now that they were not as anxious as in the beginning, everyone began to sing happily together.
The two songs ended and everyone followed the monitor’s signal to bow to the audience.
Once they left the stage, everyone started to cheer happily.
They only made a few minor mistakes and everything else has been great.
These were the two songs that they have practiced for a few weeks to sing and dance. Everyone could not help but feel proud.
Now that their performance ended, their teacher praised them for their hard work and coordination.
As Bai Qi’s class would be performing next, his classmates began to gather in the waiting area as they listened to their teacher’s instructions.
Her eyes quickly found Bai Qi who was trying to hide with the tree costume.
Hearing that her teacher was telling them to return to their seat, Zhang Li Xue quickly retracted her gaze. She lined up with her friends before returning to their seats.
As her class walked out, Zhang Li Xue walked past Bai Qi’s spot and called his name. “Brother Bai Qi!”
Her voice was not that loud, but Bai Qi could still hear her loud and clear. He raised his head and was surprised to see the little fairy in front of him.
He was too embarrassed to be seen in the tree costume that he did not notice that the little fairy was also in the waiting area.
Bai Qi wanted to hide, but there was no place for him to go to.
“Brother Bai Qi! I’ll be watching your play!” Zhang Li Xue flashed him a bright smile before she walked out of the room with her classmates.
Bai Qi did not even get to react. As he recalled Zhang Li Xue’s bright smile again, his cheek started to blush.
At the side, Mu Zhen Yu who was going to play as the woodcutter had witnessed their exchange. Perhaps, because of his costume and make-up, the little girl was unable to recognize him.
He overheard the way Zhang Li Xue had called Bai Qi and it was making him unhappy.
Mu Zhen Yu turned to look at Bai Qi and narrowed his eyes.
