138 Have You Offended Someone?
A few days later, Bai Qi finally realized that something was a little strange.
He looked at the new schedule and realized that he won’t be getting time to rest next week. From the look at it, he may have to spend his week in the hospital without a chance to go home. Moreover, his request to take a day off to attend Bai Xi Xi’s meeting with her teacher has been denied.
As a new doctor at the hospital, Bai Qi was aware of the long working hour. However, this schedule was a bit too much.
A deep frown appeared on his face.
After thinking about it for a while, Bai Qi brought the schedule to meet the senior doctor who was in charge of this schedule to discuss this matter.
Perhaps, there was some error.
He met Doctor Wu at the nurse’s station and spoke in a low voice. “Doctor Wu, is there a mistake with next week’s schedule?”
Doctor Wu lowered his gaze and saw the paper in Bai QI’s hand. A trace of guilt appeared on his face. He understood the reason Bai Qi had asked him this question.
When he was making the schedule, Doctor Wu also thought that the schedule would be unfair to Bai Qi. However, he also had no choice in this matter. He had spoken to the upper management, but he was told not to ask questions.
.....
Doctor Wu raised his hand, motioning Bai Qi not to say a word. He pulled Bai Qi over to a corner and stopped nearby the elevator area. Then, he looked around before he spoke in a low voice. “Look, Doctor Bai, I also know that this isn’t fair to you. But, I have no choice. This is the management order.”
Bai Qi’s expression changed as he wondered what was going on with the management.
A heavy sigh escaped Doctor Wu’s lips. “I should also remind you not to bother asking anyone if they wanted to change their shift with you because no one would agree. This is also the management’s order.”
Bai Qi stared at the doctor with a dazed look in his eyes. He could not understand what was going on. Why would the management want to do something like this?
Seeing the clueless look on Bai Qi’s face, Doctor Wu leaned in again and asked, “Doctor Bai, have you offended someone?”
A deep frown appeared on his face.
Now that he had given the doctor a clue, Doctor Wu hoped that Bai Qi would be able to resolve this matter soon. He patted Bai Qi on the shoulder and spoke, “You can talk to your mentor, Doctor Qi, and discuss what you should do.” With that, he left to continue his work.
Bai Qi stood in the corner alone, wondering if he had offended someone powerful enough to mess him up like this.
A face appeared in his mind, making his face turn ugly.
The only person who he had offended recently was Doctor Xiao Wan Zi.
Last time, he rejected Xiao Wan Zi’s offer. He told her that he did not want to be her boyfriend and would not mind continuing his work the way it was.
Xiao Wan Zi was upset and threatened him.
But he did not put her words into the heart. She told him that he would regret it.
Xiao Wan Zi’s father was one of the directors of the hospital. That man had some power and influence. Asking Doctor Wu to arrange a schedule like this shouldn’t be too hard.
Could it be that Doctor Xiao had asked her father to make this arrangement because she was not happy with his answer?
Bai Qi felt as if there was a lump in his throat.
For once, he was at loss at what to do.
Doctor Wu had suggested talking to his mentor. However, the other party was the director of the hospital. Even if he talks to Doctor Qi, would he be able to help?
He did not want to be a problem and let Doctor Qi fight with Director Xiao. What if it would implicate Doctor Qi as well?
There was a helpless look in his eyes.
The most important thing was Bai Xi Xi’s parents and teacher meeting. If he could not attend, then, Bai Xi Xi would be disappointed.
Other kids would surely have their family members attending the meeting. Just the thought of his little sister standing in the corner of her classroom alone made his heart grow heavier.
Bai Xi Xi grew up without her parents. The little girl was already too pitiful. He didn’t want to make his sister disappointed.
As he was still wondering what he should do, the elevator in front of him opened with a ding.
Bai Qi looked away as the bright light shone. He turned around, wanting to return to his office. However, a familiar face appeared in front of him. For a few seconds, Bai Qi began to wonder if perhaps he was hallucinating.
“Doctor Bai.” Zhang Li Xue stepped out of the elevator and walked over to him.
Seeing the bright smile on her face made him stunned. For a while, the matters he had been thinking about had dissipated.
“Miss Zhang, why are you here?” Bai Qi asked. “Are you here to look for your uncle? I think, Doctor Qi stepped out a few minutes ago. I’m not sure when he will come back.”
Zhang Li Xue giggled. “No. I’m looking for you.”
There was a hint of surprise on his face. Bai Qi was not expecting that his little fairy would show up at the hospital to look for him.
“Mmm...” Zhang Li Xue gave the man a lookover. “I didn’t expect to see you the moment I came out.”
Zhang Li Xue’s smile was infectious. Soon, Bai Qi couldn’t help but smile at her as well.
“Doctor Bai, are you going somewhere?” Zhang Li Xue asked.
Since he was standing in front of the elevator, Zhang Li Xue thought that perhaps, Bai Qi was heading somewhere else.
“No. I’m not.” Bai Qi spoke.
“Then, are you free at this moment?” Zhang Li Xue glanced at her wristwatch. “You should be on your lunch break, right?” She looked at him again with a worried look on her face. “Or, do you have to continue and work?”
Bai Qi glanced at the time. “I should be free.”
Her eyes lit up. “Then, let’s go and have lunch together at the cafeteria.”
