Chapter 217: Level Nine Flying Dragon King

Even though he had concentrated most of his efforts in those days toward training on the poison techniques, Yang Ling did not neglect his other Wizard Techniques.
He only truly came into contact with Wizard Techniques that allowed him to control souls after having advanced to the level of Heaven Wizard. There were several other Wizard Mantras for various miraculous abilities. One of those was the mysterious Gaze of Confusion Wizard Mantra.
According to the explanation on the stele, the Gaze of Confusion was an illusory Wizard Technique that covered a broad area. Its power was dependent on the strength of the caster’s mental energy.
At a low level, he could use his mental energy to confuse his opponent’s senses of sight, hearing and smell. He could target an attack toward an individual, or let it loose in a more blanketed attack. After training the technique to a high level, he could confuse the thoughts of his enemies, causing them to descend into confusion.
At the most powerful stage, a mere gaze would be enough to make the enemy completely lose himself and die lost in his own delusions. Without the caster of the technique restoring them to reality, the enemies would lose the ability to think rationally like a lunatic, or fall into an eternal slumber.
After casting the Gaze of Confusion Wizard Mantra and taming the five-meter-long Flying Dragon, Yang Ling proceeded to tame the rest of the Flying Dragons.
Just as he transported the last of the Flying Dragons into the space of the Wizard’s Pagoda, an earth-shaking howl came from deep in the valley. The trees shook as if attacked by a storm, and the earth trembled beneath Yang Ling’s feet. He peered into the mist, feeling a powerful ripple of energy emanating from somewhere ahead.
A level nine Flying Dragon King?
Yang Ling sifted through the myriad dragon memories now in his possession, and soon found enough information to understand what he was facing. He produced his Blood Elf dagger without hesitation. His instincts begged him to flee, but then he thought of a new plan. He summoned all of the dragons he had just tamed back from the space within the Wizard’s Pagoda.
After feeding every Flying Dragon with an antidote for the Mandala and Soul Robbing Incense, Yang Ling instructed them to lie down on the ground and keep still, pretending to be knocked senseless. Then he went and hid.
“Brother Yang, are you alright?” Yuna asked as soon as Yang Ling returned to her. She had seen his struggle with the Flying Dragon, and was eager to learn whether he had sustained any injuries.
“I’m alright,” he whispered tersely, dragging her with him as he passed. “We must retreat quickly!”
The sounds of the Flying Dragon King came toward them steadily. It roared occasionally, and crashed through the underbrush.
Yang Ling was fast, but the Flying Dragon King was faster. Just as Yang Ling was about to hop into a massive tree, Yang Ling felt the sharp edge of killing intent locked onto him. The creature roared. Looking back, Yang Ling saw that the Flying Dragon King was already charging toward him, leading yet more Flying Dragons.
Hiding was no longer an option.
Faced with the powerful Flying Dragon King and his horde of Flying Dragons, all baring their terrifying fangs, Yang Ling’s expression did not change. He tucked Yuna behind him. Behind them, Ashnamov, Goode, the Fox Elder and the rest surrounded him in a tight oval formation, with Yang Ling at the center.
“You bunch of insignificant humans! Not only did you dare to trespass in the Anima Snowy Mountains, you also attacked the Flying Dragons guarding the lake! You are too much!” The nearly ten meter long Flying Dragon King said fiercely. “Speak! Who sent you here? How could you humans have forgotten the agreement and your past humiliation?”
The Flying Dragon King’s fury grew when it saw the Flying Dragons motionless on the ground. It surmised that Yang Ling must not be an average person, given that he could deal with thirty Flying Dragons so efficiently. It was possible that he had great connections to the human experts that had joined forces and invaded some years ago. It did not dare act recklessly for the time being.
The agreement and humiliation of the past?
Yang Ling had already been surprised that the Flying Dragon King could speak the human language. But it surprised him even more that the other party had talked about a ceasefire agreement and some kind of humiliation.
Could it be that someone had already gone there and sparked a conflict against the Flying Dragons protecting the lake?
Yang Ling quickly recalled a few critical points from his store of shared memory.
First, there was a powerful human fighter that had come to the lake and engaged in conflict against the Flying Dragons guarding the area. Second, the human fighter back then must have been extremely powerful, and the Flying Dragon King would have had suffered many injuries even if it had emerged victorious. Otherwise, there was no reason for it to not attack Yang Ling outright.
Yang Ling knew how afraid the Bullmen and Medusas were, and he noted that Yuna and the Fox Elder stood totally motionless, holding their breath. Yang Ling quickly thought of a way to go with the flow.
“I did not expect you to still remember the ancient agreement after so many years!” Yang Ling continued, “You can call me Yang Ling, or you can call me Sir. The entire Terras Forest is my territory, which includes this snowy mountain!”
According to the memories of the Flying Dragons he had tamed, the Flying Dragon King had powerful abilities. Its combat capabilities far exceeded those of an average Flying Dragon. One Flying Dragon King was already troublesome to deal with; their destructive capabilities would be extraordinary if Yang Ling included the Flying Dragons behind their king. Choosing to fight the Flying Dragons head on was foolish.
Since he could not win with brute force, Yang Ling knew that he had to win using his wits. Luckily, he had made ample preparations before he came to the snowy mountain.
Before the confrontation, Yang Ling had thought ahead, and hidden his Magical Beast army. He also lit a few bundles of Soul Robbing incense around the area, each of which released a steady stream of odorless poisoned smoke that would numb his enemies’ nervous systems, slowing them down drastically. The more time that passed, the greater the damage the Flying Dragons would take, and the more advantageous the situation would be for Yang Ling.
The entire Terras Forest was his territory?
Hearing Yang Ling speak such nonsense, Yuna, the Fox Elder and the rest who were beside Yang Ling were dumbfounded. The Flying Dragon King seethed, blinded by rage. They could not understand Yang Ling’s intentions. Only Goode and Ashnamov, who had been paying attention to Yang Ling’s actions closely, could guess what Yang Ling was up to.
The Flying Dragon King opened its eyes wide with surprise, and glared at Yang Ling. Two hundred years previous, the detestable humans had tried to bypass the Flying Dragons guarding the area and headed straight for the divine temple in the snowy mountains. Those humans were terrible, but Yang Ling’s impudence was much worse. He didn’t stop at trespassing; he claimed the entire mountain range was his territory. He was insane!
“You insignificant humans, remember my name. Seylius, the thirty-sixth generation of Flying Dragon Kings!” The Flying Dragon King Seylius roared, and prepared to charge Yang Ling. It only felt that something was off when it tried to move. Its body was powerless, its wings numb!
No good, I’ve been poisoned!
The Flying Dragon King found that he could not retreat. Instead it lumbered toward Yang Ling, fighting with all its might to make its big, heavy body move. It would find a way to dispel the poison in is body, but the outcome would be disastrous if this man managed to enter the divine temple of the Snow Goddess!
Under the direction of the Flying Dragon King, the rest of the Flying Dragons followed behind it, heading straight for the Spellcasters beside Yang Ling, namely Yuna, Goode and the Fox Elder. Even though they were affected by the Soul Robbing Incense, they still advanced quite swiftly!
Faced with the ferocious Flying Dragon King and its Flying Dragons, the group prepared to take action.
Yuna chanted loudly, prepared to cast the Illusory Mirage Twin World and mimic a primordial forest filled with traps. Goode raised his hands and cast a wave of icicles, slowing the Flying Dragons down. The Fox Elder raised his hands and cast a wind element Acceleration Spell on the group, while Ashnamov lifted his long spear with a grim expression, guarding Yang Ling’s back.
Yuna, the Fox Elder and the rest were nervous, but the ordinary Bullman warriors and Medusas were nearly paralyzed with worry. But being highly experienced elites, they huddled together, raising their sharp weapons.
Just as the grand battle was about to break out, the thirty Flying Dragons pretending to be injured, motionless on the ground suddenly leapt up and began to attack the untamed dragons.
The Flying Dragon King was the focus of the attacks, and soon a human-sized wound had been torn across its abdomen. Its tail barb had been bitten off whole by one of the Flying Dragons Yang Ling had tamed, and the bones in its wings were broken. It could no longer fly.
The Flying Dragon King understood that its situation was dire, even as it fought back against the attacking creatures. It instructed the rest of the Flying Dragons to retreat. It had first been poisoned, then ambushed. It was clear that the other party had already set up a heavy trap in the area. All it could do was retreat and think of a way to retaliate.
The Flying Dragon King reacted decisively and quickly, but it was too late.
The Horned Bee Beasts, Evil Eyes, Withered Tree Warriors and spiders emerged from their hiding places, blocking off any path of retreat and surrounding the Flying Dragons.
If this was an ordinary day, the Flying Dragons would not have paid much attention to low-level Magical Beasts like the Vampire Bats, Horned Bee Beasts and tarantulas, but their reflexes were dull, their speeds getting slower from the Soul Robbing Incense. Faced with the hordes of the Magical Beast army, they had difficulty defending themselves, and were unable to escape the conflict.
The Flying Dragon King roared, reaching frenzy, and tore a tame Flying Dragon in two. It planted its claws in the ground and sprang at Yang Ling, nearly reaching him. Even without the ability to fly, the Dragon King was fast!
