74 Number One

“What do I do?”

Su Ying turned around and glanced at Xiao Jin. “You’ll supervise the work. I’ll administer a different medicine to your leg tomorrow. I’ll probably perform the surgery for you after the house is built. At that point, I’ll stitch up the tendons in your leg that were cut previously.”

Stitching up the broken tendons? Xiao Jin thought Su Ying was joking with him. However, when he saw her solemn expression, he knew that she would never make such a joke.

“Alright,” he said. As he spoke, he rolled up his sleeve, revealing a wound-closing plaster on his arm that was used to close the wound. “What is this?”

Su Ying glanced at it and said, “It’s for closing small wounds. This way, I don’t have to use a needle and thread to do stitching. This thing will dissolve into your skin after 24 hours. It won’t cause you any harm.”

“I just want to know where you got all these things.”

Su Ying’s expression froze, and then she replied without any change in her expression, “You want to know?”

Xiao Jin nodded very earnestly. “Mm-hmm.”

The corners of Su Ying’s lips curled up and she gradually inched closer to him. “I’m not telling you.”

Xiao Jin was utterly speechless.

“Mother and Father want to kiss again? It’s so embarrassing.” The younger toddler Ling’s tiny face suddenly popped up next to their faces.

The older toddler Ji quickly went up and used his tiny hands to cover his younger sister’s eyes. “You can’t look. You can’t look. Aunt Zhao said that small children can’t look at such things.”

Su Ying didn’t know what to say. What kind of nonsense had Aunt Zhao been teaching them?

Xiao Jin looked at Su Ying’s red lips, which were so close to him, and his throat moved slightly. He leaned forward slightly, and when Su Ying turned her face away from the two children, her red lips brushed past the tip of his nose.

Xiao Jin held his breath, and he subconsciously grabbed Su Ying’s hand.

Su Ying was also stunned. Their faces were almost touching. She quickly pushed Xiao Jin away and turned her face away awkwardly. “Why are you leaning so close? Do you want me to smell the odor on your body?”

Xiao Jin was at a loss for words.

“Mother, you were the one who leaned over first…” The older toddler Ji said in a soft voice.

“You’re just a kid. Who allowed you to stay up late? Quickly lie down and go to sleep.”

The two little ones obediently lay on the blanket and closed their eyes.

At night, the mountain wind blew across the open space, bringing with it a trace of a sickly sweet smell. The sound of grinding knives could be heard from time to time.

In the dark, Number One, who was lying on the ground, suddenly got up, turned around, and walked straight toward the wooden building next to him.

Just as his figure was about to disappear into the shadows of the wooden building, he suddenly cried out in pain and held his head in anguish. He also came to his senses.

“Heroine, please spare me! Please spare me!”

Su Ying’s annoyed voice could be heard in the darkness. “Get the hell back here.”

Number One’s headache gradually subsided. After looking around in bewilderment, he scrambled back to the open space.

Inside the wooden building, Mei Niang, dressed in all red, looked in the direction of the open space. The smile in her eyes became increasingly more insane.

The next day, Su Ying woke up when the sky was already bright.

Uncle Hea had already made a lot of mixed-grain steamed buns. Although the taste of the mixed grain was not very good, the buns were very filling.

Su Ying grabbed a few steamed buns and walked to Number One.

When he saw her, Number One got up hurriedly from the ground and looked at her in fear.

“What were you doing last night?”

Number One was stunned for a moment. “I don’t know.”

Su Ying frowned, and Number One’s heart skipped a beat. “Try harder to recall.”

Number One said with a tense face, “I only came to my senses when you called me.”

Su Ying raised her eyebrows and glanced in the direction of the wooden building. She saw Mei Niang leaning against the wooden building’s railing and smiling charmingly at her.

Su Ying turned away and returned to Xiao Jin’s side, saying, “The woman in the wooden building next door is very odd. For so long, no one has been able to occupy this open space. There must be something strange going on. Ask Zhao Neng and the others to take some silver and find out who that woman is.”

Su Ying placed some silver pieces in Xiao Jin’s hand.

Xiao Jin nodded. “Mm-hmm.”

“Where are you going later?”

Su Ying took a bag from the carriage and said without turning her head, “Going to dig the foundation.”

Su Ying brought the bag to Tian Mu. “There are some tools inside. I’ll teach you how to use them.”

Su Ying took out an electric saw and started teaching him on the spot. “This thing is very sharp. When you use it, wear these gloves. They will protect your hands in case of accidents.”

Tian Mu stared at Su Ying’s saw in dazed shock. This saw sliced through timber like it was cutting fruits.

Xiao Jin didn’t know where Su Ying had gotten so many shovels from, but she started to dig the foundations on the open space.

Under Su Ying’s supervision, everyone was extremely efficient.

Xiao Jin watched helplessly as a deep pit was dug out in the flat open space in just one day.

Su Ying kept shoveling the soil to the side without stopping. She alone could do the work of ten people.

The older toddler Ji and the younger toddler Ling stood by the pit and watched. They would help Su Ying scoop up some soil from time to time. The whole family was having a great time.

With so much commotion, it inevitably attracted the attention of other people who came to watch. They simply stood at a distance and watched dumbly as Su Ying and the rest finished digging the foundation in a day.

The wooden building designed by Tian Mu only had two floors. The foundation did not need to be deep, so it was not difficult to dig.

“Tian Mu, have you prepared the wooden piles for the foundation?”

Tian Mu, who was exhausted and drenched in sweat, wiped the sweat off his forehead and raised his head. “They are ready. They are ready. Send a few people over to carry them there.”

Su Ying let out a heavy breath. She took out an energy-replenishing candy and ate it. The sweet taste of the candy spread throughout her mouth, and her slightly tired body was instantly filled with energy.

“Coming.”

Su Ying climbed out of the pit and walked over to Tian Mu. Under everyone’s shocked gazes, she lifted that thick wooden pile.

Her petite body was weighed down by the wooden pile so much that no one could see her clearly!

Su Ying naturally didn’t have such great strength on her own. She had the help of the wristband of infinite power. With that wristband, she could easily lift up two wooden piles, let alone one!

Su Ying placed the wooden pile in the pit and asked the mercenaries to help her hold it up.

After confirming the location, Su Ying climbed onto the wooden pile.

The crowd only heard a loud banging noise and the wooden pile sank into the ground little by little…

In less than two hours, Su Ying had driven a few wooden piles into the ground…

“We’re done for today.” After Su Ying drove the last wooden pile in, she jumped down. She was famished. Luckily, she went into her interspatial store in the morning and took out the meat that she had stored earlier. There would be braised pork for dinner tonight.

Su Ying walked over to the water bucket and realized that it was empty. Madam Sun and her family were sitting by the stove, staring dumbly at the meat in the pot.

Su Ying’s almond-shaped eyes darkened slightly and she walked towards them expressionlessly. “I told you to look for a water source today. Where’s the water?”
