Two to three miles away from Nile. Mushrooms of clouds and smoke continued to rise one after another. A rain of broken animal limbs dropped as the surrounding area kept on getting devastated.
Zombie pets are Nile's primary target. Even so, the mutated animals that are fleeing from the scene in panic will sometimes get embroiled in the area of the explosion. Those mutated animals became the casualties that Nile wanted to avoid the most.
It is not that Nile sees them as an ally or anything, Nile just did not want meaningless slaughter.
He knew that there would be an anomaly in every kind of species. For example, in a group of scheming wolves, there would be an honest cub.
Before knowing the real alignment of the mutated animals, Nile wanted to avoid killing them as much as possible.
They can be a valuable asset to humans in the fight versus the zombies. Of course, they could also become the nightmare of both the human survivors and the zombies. Or they could remain neutral, but with the pursuit between the zombie pets and the mutated animal right now, them being neutral is the most unlikely to happen.
And of course, the real reason why Nile wanted to avoid killing them is that killing the mutated animals did not give him any kind of reward.
Apocalypse Points or stats point. You name it, there is nothing for Nile to gain.
Nile could only protest in silence. If those animals did not occupy the various spots in the explosion site, zombies should be the one dying and not them. What a waste of Apocalypse Point.
There is no benefit from killing them.
Nile did not mourn for the waste of Apocalypse Points for long.
Because in the System, his Apocalypse Points count was experiencing the 'spring'.
Nile has become quite addicted to the beauty of explosions. Of course, he has also become quite addicted to the beauty of his Apocalypse Point that keeps on rising and with his stats points that keeps on rising in every explosion.
In the future, if an opportunity arises, Nile would surely do this kind of thing again.
Right now, the mutated animals and the zombie pets are already closing into his location. There is only one or two miles distance that is separating them, and that distance is still decreasing in every second that passes by.
Even though Nile still wanted to continue farming for more Apocalypse Points, he knew that by doing so, he would only bring trouble to himself.
Nile does not want the situation to develop into something unpleasant.
And without a mount to ride, Nile will not be able to go that far before getting outran by the horde of mutated animals and zombie pets. They will devour him in no time, no matter how much he becomes stronger.
As the saying goes, 'Two hands are better than one'. Without overwhelming strength, Nile could only pray if he ever arrived in that kind of situation.
Nile did not become arrogant and greedy. Alright, Nile admitted that he is greedy, but he is not dumb. He knew when to stop.
Besides, the amount of Apocalypse Points that Nile has earned on this event has already reached 545 in total. He even spent 30 Apocalypse Points for buying two sets of enhanced exploding bullets including the first one.
All in all, he spent a total of 100 Apocalypse Points on this event, with the 40 Apocalypse Points for the bullet and 60 Apocalypse Points for the Sniping Slingshot.
Before the massacre started, Nile had a total of 75.5 Apocalypse Points. The Sniping Slingshot cost 60 Apocalypse Points, while the normal Level One° Exploding Bullets cost 10 Apocalypse Points.
Nile's Apocalypse Point had been reduced to a meagre 5.5 after that shopping. But after firing the first bullet alone, Nile already earned a total of 34 Apocalypse Points increasing his Apocalypse Points count into 39.5. That single bullet alone had already recovered the cost of the ammunition.
With the remaining five normal exploding bullets, Nile earned an average of 30 Apocalypse Points in each explosion. An average of two or four Level One° zombies will be fried every time he fires a round.
Nile then bought two sets of the enhanced exploding bullet which cost him 15 Apocalypse Points per box.
When Nile fired the last round of the enhanced exploding bullet, his total Apocalypse Points were already sitting atop 500+.
The total Apocalypse Points Nile had right now are an astronomical 520.5.
[A/N: Nile earned 545 A.P. after firing all the bullets, including the first one. 545 minus 30(enhanced exploding bullet cost) plus 5.5(the remaining A.P. after buying the slingshot and normal exploding bullets in the beginning) = 520.5]
This meant that Nile had already recovered the 70 Apocalypse Points that he invested for buying the Sniping Slingshot and the first box of exploding bullets earlier. He even earned 445 Apocalypse Points back as a profit after spending another 30 Apocalypse Points for the two boxes of enhanced exploding bullets.
With these points, Nile's journey as a Level One° Human should no longer be a concern.
Nile stored the Sniping Slingshot inside the Storage Space. The three cubic meters of Storage Space was now chock full because of the two coconut fruit bunches that Nile had plucked earlier.
Nile used 100 Apocalypse Points to upgrade the Storage Space. The three cubic meter space became six cubic meters. The Space was doubled thereafter, Nile could proudly say that the 100 Apocalypse Points are well spent.
The crowded Storage Space from before had now become half-empty. He stored the Sniping Slingshot on one side along with the empty box of exploding bullets.
More eager than ever, Nile descended the coconut tree like a lizard. With his newfound strength, climbing down had become much easier.
Killing that many zombie pets had not only given him abundant Apocalypse Points, Nile's stats had also seen a huge increment as well.

An increase of 2.34 stats points?
'Not bad!' Nile nodded his head in satisfaction as he grinned under the black face mask.
A trace of hand and footprint appeared on the coconut tree trunk as Nile descended. With the sudden increase of his stats points, controlling the strength he uses will take time.
Nile did not have the time to adapt to his newfound strength for now as he was racing for time.
Nile steps his foot on the ground again cracks could be seen under his steps.
On the horizon, the sun had already started to set. The surroundings are already losing its usual light.
For the last time, Nile wanted to try and awaken Maximo. Even if his action will interrupt the evolution process of Maximo, it doesn't matter. There will be another opportunity in the future. Surviving for another day takes priority.
But it seems that Nile no longer needs to do anything. Why? Because Maximo had already woken up half an hour ago.
After searching around, Maximo even thought that Nile had already left. Maximo saw the sledgehammer beside him and used his tail to lift it up curiously. After a while, Maximo enjoyed his newfound toy and forgot about the disappearance of Nile.
Fortunately, Nile left the sledgehammer behind, or else Maximo might have already left because of boredom.
When Maximo saw Nile again, he felt surprised and happy. Maximo then eagerly comes to Nile's side with a sprint.
Nile grinned and became elated with the sight. It seems that he will not need to abandon Maximo anymore.
Maximo was hopping around Nile just like a dog who had just met its owner after a week of vacation. Its tongue was drawn out, and its tail was shaking left and right.
Nile was about to search for the sledgehammer, but it seems that Maximo had already beaten him to it. Nile notices that Maximo is holding the heavy sledgehammer with its tail. Maximo even keeps on waving its tail with the sledgehammer like he was only waving a stick.
Nile grinned under the mask as he stroked the carabao's forehead. He then hops into the back of Maximo for a ride.
Suddenly, the ground was trembling lightly, like it was experiencing a minor earthquake. Maximo becomes agitated as he turns his head towards the direction of the Barangay Hall.
As if he knew what was coming, Maximo's body also trembled in fear. Maximo glanced at Nile that is now sitting at the saddle in Maximo's back before he 'mooed' in the air as if urging Nile for something.
Nile realises that Maximo must have experienced this kind of thing already. It already knew what was happening by that tremble from the ground alone. It seems that Maximo is a carabao with a story as well.
Nile did not waste any more time as he grips the reign with both of his hands tightly. He then kicked Maximo's side belly lightly as if it was the cue.
"Hee...yah!" Nile shouted as Maximo 'mooed' and sprinted towards the next Village.
