Chapter 222: The Harvest
Zhu Yan, as a second-tier Alchemist, had recognized the extraordinary nature of this type of Pill from the very first moment he laid eyes on it.
Ever since that day, he had been keeping an eye on Wang Hong, appearing to be closer to him on the surface while secretly plotting.
Upon hearing Zhu Yan's words, Wang Hong guessed that it was that foolish Little Peng who had leaked the information.
He felt that as Little Peng grew older, its intelligence had also increased significantly, and in the future, they would need to keep important secrets away from it.
Especially anything related to Space, it couldn't be allowed to enter. Wang Hong hadn't let it in since it had advanced to the second-tier Demonic Beast. When it grew older, even if it could remember a little bit vaguely, that would be impressive enough.
"Junior Brother Wang, if you can hand over this Pill Recipe to me, I will spare you. We can still be friends in the future, what do you say?"
Zhu Yan thought Wang Hong was quite easy to deceive and tried to persuade him. He was afraid that if he killed Wang Hong and couldn't find the Pill Recipe in his Storage Bag, he would be at a loss.
"That sounds good, but my Pill Recipe isn't with me. Senior Brother Zhu, please open the formation and kill this Demonic Beast first. I will then take Senior Brother to retrieve it."
Wang Hong replied while desperately dealing with the pursuit of the Demonic Ape. He wasn't really foolish enough to believe such nonsense.
By now, he had already been struck by the Demonic Ape's club and was coughing up blood repeatedly, clearly in a dire situation. However, the Demonic Ape was also becoming increasingly poisoned, and its attacks on him were weakening.
"It seems, Junior Brother Wang, that you don't intend to give it to me so easily. I'll have to take it myself after you're dead."
Zhu Yan said with a sinister tone, his demeanor now completely different from his usual friendly facade.
While he was talking, Wang Hong was struck by another blow and spat out a large amount of blood.
At this point, the Demonic Ape seemed exhausted, and the stone club it held seemed much heavier. It dragged it along the ground as it slowly approached Wang Hong step by step.
"Senior Brother Zhu, if you don't come in to save me now, I'll destroy this Pill Recipe."
Wang Hong, now sitting on the ground, blood continuously dripping from his mouth, took out a Jade Scroll from his Storage Bag and held it up high in his hand.
"Junior Brother Wang, please don't act rashly. I was just playing a small joke with you. Please don't take offense!"
Zhu Yan said with a smile on his face and quickly opened a hole in the formation to enter. After he passed through, the formation was sealed shut once again.
Once inside, Zhu Yan first summoned a flying blade and decapitated the Demonic Ape.
Then, with a smug smile on his face, he approached Wang Hong and reached out to help him up.
Suddenly, Wang Hong leaped up without grabbing a weapon, delivering a direct punch to Zhu Yan's chest.
Zhu Yan was now too late to dodge and only felt a sharp pain in his chest as Wang Hong's fist pierced through his front and out the back.
Zhu Yan looked at the fist that had just passed through his body in disbelief.
He had clearly seen Wang Hong being struck multiple times in the chest by the Demonic Ape earlier, so he had never doubted that Wang Hong was injured.
He had experienced the Demonic Ape's strength firsthand. A single blow would result in broken tendons, fractures, and shattered organs.
"You're not injured?" he couldn't comprehend it, even as he was about to die, he couldn't help but ask.
"Of course, I'm not injured. If I were injured, how could I muster such strength to kill you? I've been eating too many Spiritual Herbs lately, which made my gums bleed a bit, and I ended up spitting some blood."
Wang Hong withdrew his fist, flicking off the blood that had splattered onto his arm in disdain.
Zhu Yan, unwilling to accept his fate, slowly fell to the ground. 𝒻𝓻𝑒ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝑛𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓁.𝑐𝘰𝓶
Wang Hong wiped the blood from his arm onto Zhu Yan's robe, then removed the two Storage Bags from his body.
He ignited a fire and used the Fireball Technique to cremate Zhu Yan's body. After a while, it turned into a pile of ashes, which he swept away with his sleeve, leaving Zhu Yan completely extinguished from this world.
After collecting the Demonic Ape's body, he stood up and approached the small tree that resembled a Jade Ginseng Fruit.
The Jade Ginseng Fruit had a shape similar to ginseng, with a jade-like appearance that was almost translucent.
Wang Hong first plucked the three ripe fruits hanging from the Jade Ginseng Fruit tree, stored them in a Jade Box, and sealed it with a Talisman to prevent the loss of Spirit Qi.
Next, he transplanted the spirit fruit tree into his Space. Using a Flying Sword, he carefully dug up the surrounding soil, then severed the main root, leaving most of the roots in the soil. Even without roots, Wang Hong could ensure the spirit fruit tree's survival, but he wanted to leave as many roots as possible, hoping that another Jade Ginseng Fruit tree would grow here in the future.
Spirit fruit trees and Spirit Herbs had significantly different growth cycles. Spirit fruit trees required a long waiting period in the early stages, but once matured, they could continuously yield fruit, with much higher production compared to Spirit Herbs. On the other hand, most Spirit Herbs had much shorter growth cycles, and once harvested, they needed to be replanted.
Wang Hong estimated that this Jade Ginseng Fruit tree had already been growing for over a thousand years, and it was still relatively small.
If Wang Hong used its branches to propagate, it would take a very long time for the saplings to grow and bear fruit. Even with the help of his Space, it would still take a considerable amount of time before he could enjoy the fruits of his labor.
After planting the Jade Ginseng Fruit tree in a corner of his Space, Wang Hong emptied the items from Zhu Yan's Storage Bag onto the ground. Since no one would disturb him here, he could clean Zhu Yan's belongings before leaving.
The first item he noticed was Zhu Yan's Spiritual Weapon, a middle-grade one. Wang Hong inspected it and found it to be quite good, so he stowed it in his Storage Bag.
The second item was a lower-grade Spiritual Weapon-level Alchemy Furnace. Wang Hong marveled at Zhu Yan's average alchemical skills, as it was rare to possess a Spiritual Weapon-level Alchemy Furnace. Such furnaces required extremely rare and scarce materials, and that's why there weren't many of them in existence. Many second-tier Alchemists continued to use high-grade Magical Weapon-level Alchemy Furnaces even after decades of pill refining.
However, Wang Hong was unaware that Zhu Yan had recently felt the need for a better Alchemy Furnace. He had lured an Alchemist from the Pill Hall out of the city and killed him, taking all of the Alchemist's wealth before successfully advancing to become a second-tier Alchemist.
Among the remaining items were various bottles and containers, each filled with a mishmash of pills, ranging from first-tier to second-tier.
There were also various Spirit Herbs of different kinds, collected out of habit by every Alchemist.
Inside Zhu Yan's Storage Bag, there were tens of thousands of Spirit Stones, which happened to be exactly what Wang Hong needed at the moment.
In the end, all the wealth that Zhu Yan had accumulated through countless robberies had now fallen into Wang Hong's hands.
