Immortal of the Ages

Chapter 657: You Won't Die

The blue fox laughed and said, "Silly boy, do you know what a gap is? I intend to dress you up so stunningly beautiful and present you before the Great Mother. She, who usually finds little to excite her, will be utterly dazzled when she realizes you are a man. The shock alone will make her heart bloom with joy."

Moon Fairy remained silent for a moment, his expression grave. "A man may be killed, but not humiliated. I refuse."

"Refuse, my foot!" The green fox laughed through her tears, and with a wave of her hand, eight green fox tails wrapped around Moon Fairy, pinning him down.

Then, the two set to work—one with makeup, the other with clothes.

Soon after, a vision of pure, unmatched beauty, a veritable spectacle of the ages, was crafted by their hands.

Staring at his reflection in the mirror, Moon Fairy was struck by a bewildering thought… Is this really me?

Even his true self might have been tempted by such beauty. He was breathtaking! This pure desire surpassed even the coldest of hearts!

"I want to kill someone!" Moon Fairy gritted his teeth.

"Tsk, tsk," the Nian within him roared with laughter. "I really want to say that line to you."

"Which line?" Moon Fairy asked.

"But first, let me have a good laugh at your suffering..."

Back in the Thunder Department, Yun Xiao couldn't help but sneeze. He closed his eyes and clenched his teeth, "Damn, it's a good thing it's just a body double, a mere plaything for their amusement. At least my own dignity remains intact."

He was now even more convinced that not choosing the War Princess as his body double had been the right decision. Otherwise, controlling a female body would have truly warped his nature.

The War Princess had survived because of her gender; the original Moon Fairy from the Northern Wasteland had not been so lucky.

"Lu Yao, do you want me to show you again?" asked a gentle voice suddenly.

Yun Xiao looked up and saw the Moon Sword Goddess standing before him, her silver robe and hair gleaming, slowly sheathing her long sword. Her eyes, usually fierce, now held a trace of vulnerability as she looked at him.

The once unassailable ice maiden, now seemed so tender in Yun Xiao's presence. Her fear of him was a sharp insight borne of her keen judgment.

At that moment, their roles seemed reversed; the disciple sat while the master stood.

"No need," Yun Xiao declared, rising to his feet.

"No need?" The Moon Sword Goddess bit her lip slightly, her voice tinged with doubt. "Are you sure? I've only shown you the three Dao Heaven grade sword techniques once..."

Gu Suwan, seated in the distance clutching her legs, lifted her head at these words, a hint of panic flickering in her beautiful eyes. She remembered watching Yun Xiao observing the Thunder Department's Ten Great Dao Heaven Art at the Myriad Divine Thunder Bureau.

"Could it be that you’ve already mastered them?" The Moon Sword Goddess eyes trembled slightly as her posture became increasingly deferential before Yun Xiao.

"Is it difficult?" Yun Xiao glanced at her impassively, then extended his index finger, around which a storm of sword energy swirled, forming a miniature blizzard—the very technique the Moon Sword Goddess had just demonstrated.

The Moon Sword Goddess gasped, her eyes widening as she instinctively stepped back. It had taken her 30 years to learn this Dao Heaven grade sword technique. Yet, Yun Xiao, with a single glance and one explanation of the technique, had mastered it. What kind of heaven defying monster was he?

Her imagination was overwhelmed.

"Master." Yun Xiao arched an eyebrow at the Moon Sword Goddess. "This is a secret sword art from the Immortal Sword Court. You shouldn’t have shared it with me, an official of the Thunder Department. You've violated the taboos of the Immortal Sword Court. Have you considered how you will face the wrath of the Northstar Sword Devil?"

The Moon Sword Goddess' voice was hoarse as she looked down. "Having made my choice, I have accepted that you are invincible. Regardless of what Sovereign Lu or the White Emperor think of you, I stand with you. What does it matter if I defy the Immortal Sword Court?"

"Wow, so sensible?" Yun Xiao was somewhat surprised.

Many had witnessed his terrifying talents. Yet, due to their pride, they failed to understand just how monstrous he was.

It seemed that the Moon Sword Goddess was the first among the top officials of the Celestial Court to be truly humbled by his talents.

"You moved from Sky Soaring City to the Divine Gateway, slaughtering your way through in just a few days, even defeating the Tri Dark Lord. Your transcendence over all beings is evident," the Moon Sword Goddess said, her gaze intense.

"Does that seem reasonable to you?" Yun Xiao asked with a smile.

At his words, the Moon Sword Goddess trembled, her knees weakening, and she began to kneel before him.

"May I ask, senior, are you perhaps a reincarnated Immortal sage?"

Yun Xiao extended a hand to support her, shaking his head. "I’m just teasing you; I'm no reincarnated Immortal sage."

"Regardless, I am wholly yours to command," the Moon Sword Goddess said, her gaze nervously fixed on him.

How the tables had turned. Once, she was the unassailable Moon Sword Goddess, scrutinizing Yun Xiao from on high, pulling him in and pushing him away at a whim... Now, she knelt before him, casting aside all pride away and seeking his approval.

The sensation of conquest was exhilarating.

"In all my time in the Celestial Court, truly few have acknowledged me wholeheartedly, without fear of the pressures that come with it. You may not be of the finest character, but you're clever, and I am indeed short on allies," Yun Xiao declared as he took her delicate hand in his, gazing deeply into her eyes. "Alright, I'll give you a chance."

"Thank you..." the Moon Sword Goddess' eyes reddened slightly, relief washing over her.

Her mind was a bit of a muddle.

She had a vague understanding of what Yun Xiao intended to do, and what he was up against—the entire Celestial Court system!

She would have scoffed at anyone daring to challenge that system. But now, truly frightened, her mind feverish, she had defected to his side, betraying the Celestial Court.

A prodigy, no matter how defiant, didn't scare her. What frightened her was this man's defiance was suffocating, indestructible, and his meteoric rise from obscurity to nearly matching her in just a few days!

She knew better than anyone that once this youth surpassed her, her own worth would vanish. Like Gu Suwan, whose value had already diminished.

At that moment, a young man held her jade-like hand firmly, looking at her, while she, the exalted Moon Sword Goddess of the Immortal Sword Court, bowed her head like a little girl, utterly nervous.

Such a scene, unbelievable to anyone.

But it was the truth!

"I must be mad..."

When Yun Xiao finally released her hand, she felt an unexpected pang of loss. The sensation of being overwhelmed by her own disciple twisted her emotions in a bizarre mix of discomfort and a strangely unspeakable pleasure.

What a turn of events!

Yun Xiao turned his gaze toward Gu Suwan.

Without a word, he simply watched the ever youthful woman who had been staring at him and the Moon Sword Goddess for quite some time.

None of their conversation had been concealed from Gu Suwan.

"I, I..." Gu Suwan suddenly became nervous, the youth she once saw as her adopted son now looked at her in a way that made her tremble inside.

"Don't worry, you won't die. There are too many in the Celestial Court who deserve death, and you've spent 800,000 True Immortal Jades to save your own life; one less won't matter," Yun Xiao suddenly said.

In truth, it was not the Moon Sword Goddess who was closest to Yun Xiao. It was her! So, the terror of Yun Xiao's rise was most profoundly felt by Gu Suwan.

Before she knew it, the young man was standing before her, face-to-face, less than two inches away.

She was supposed to be the powerhouse, and he the newbie. Yet, Yun Xiao's gaze was steady, while her beautiful eyes trembled continuously.

"I-I cannot betray the Celestial Court..." Gu Suwan said, her voice shaking.

His look continued to suffocate her.

"I am the divinely appointed Immortal Champion; why would following my lead be a betrayal of the Celestial Court?" Yun Xiao suddenly reached out, grasping her throat, and asked coldly, "Or do you know in your heart that the Celestial Court has already betrayed me?"

Gu Suwan's eyes widened, as if choking, her eyes brimming with tears.

"Speak!" Yun Xiao commanded coldly.

"Hehe..." Gu Suwan collapsed into his arms, her voice quivering, "The Nine Thunders Sovereign, he just took the Supreme Everlasting Thunder Cauldron, to your homeland, your mortal realm..."

After these words, Gu Suwan was drenched in sweat, her complexion deathly pale. She leaned on Yun Xiao's chest, tears streaming down her face as she looked up at him.
