Chapter 5: Commotion
After Kaden finished whispering the plan inside the guys ear, he turned to face Kaden and gave him a thumbs up, "I will never forget this favor thank you Kaden! Oh I almost forgot to introduce myself my name is Ken." Said Ken giving a slight bow to Kaden then returning to his seat ignoring Emma almost completely much to her surprise.
"What did you tell him?" Emma asked with a less friendly smile than before.
"Oh nothing just giving him a few tips on some guy things. Well it was nice chatting with you so I better get on my way now." Said Kaden turning around to leave but when he turned around the image before him left his jaw slightly open.
Every single seat that was previously empty of filling was now filled with students with only a few stragglers still walking around hoping for a seat.
'That's not good.' Kaden internally sighed. He had done the exact opposite of what he planned before. He had even told himself to separate from anywhere near Emma but when she started speaking to him and he saw an opportunity to mess with her he got too caught up in the moment.
To add salt in the wound right as Kaden was going to search other rows for an open seat a loudspeaker played throughout the entire gym, "All students be seated within the next 5 minutes the ceremony will begin shortly."
"Oh it seems you're in quite the predicament~" The last voice Kaden wanted to hear right now spoke making him turn back in her direction with a slight hint of annoyance now obviously infiltrating his expression.
Emma had a wide smile on her face enjoying how the tables had turned in her favor, "Of course I can spare you a seat right beside me as it seems we have some room available." She said gesturing towards her row where there was indeed another seat available right next to hers. "That does seem like a good option no?" She continued on staring straight into Kaden's eyes which still contained a hint of annoyance.
Right as Kaden was about to answer another voice sounded right behind Emma making her jump in surprise, "Actually make that two seats."
Standing behind Emma was Ashly whom had a calm expression on her face as she had been watching the scene from the beginning and in truth also got too involved in what was happening not realizing that all the seats were now taken.
"Who might you be?" Emma asked returning to her previous happy and glowing attitude seeing that there was a new person.
"Oh, Kaden didn't tell you about me? How mean of him, I'm actually his new best friend!" Ashly replied walking around Emma and entering her row.
Emma stood still for a moment dumbfounded at the unexpected words, 'Best friend? Since when does Kaden hang out with people or make new friends in general?' She thought stumped but then realizing what section Ashly was entering she tried stopping her, "Hey wait there are no more seats avail-" As Emma was about to finish her sentence she looked up slightly and her jaw dropped this time. The seat that she had offered to Kaden was already occupied by someone. It was occupied none other than Kaden himself and the approaching Ashly then sat down beside him in the seat that was previously Emma's.
"Nice work." Kaden said amused giving Ashly a fist bump as she sat down with a smile on her face.
"I don't know what you mean I just sat down in the only open seat I saw?" Ashly replied giving a fake look of confusion causing Kaden to muffle a laugh.
"Hey! That's my seat!" Emma uncharacteristically raised her voice stomping over to Ashly in anger standing right in front of her.
Ashly looked up at her unaffected by her tone and looked at the back of her seat in confusion before turning back to Emma with an innocent face, "I don't see your name on it? Also please stop causing a commotion everyone is staring at you." After these words Kaden laughed slightly under his breath even Ken giggled slightly before going back to his neutral stance surveying the situation beside Kaden.
Emma's face fumed in anger but right before she was about to break her happy go lucky personality, she looked around her and realized all of the previous stragglers were no more and everyone was staring at her in confusion on what the commotion was about causing her to immediately calm down and change back to her normal happy face.
"I'm sorry for the commotion everyone it was my fault it seems I'm in the wrong row." Emma said apologizing to everyone in the room and then walked out of the row walking down the aisle in search of another seat her true thoughts unknown.
"Heh, that was quite impressive." Kaden said looking at Ashly in a new light with a true smile on his face.
Ashly looked back at him and realized the genuineness behind the smile and smiled back herself, "Nothing much to it you didn't seem affected by her anyway, so I just sped up the process."
As Kaden was about to continue the conversation with a newfound interest in Ashly the loudspeaker rang out once more, "All students please quiet down and face your attention to the front of the room. The ceremony will now begin."
Immediately anything that Kaden was going to say went out the window as he, Ashly, and Ken if not the whole gym of people went silent as they looked forward at the podium as a tall man walked towards the microphone stand at the middle of the podium, "Welcome all students to your first year of ability school. I am excited to welcome all you new and bright faces into the chance of a lifetime. Our school currently has the most high-tech facilities this world can currently offer and we're here to train you to become the best of the best. This journey is not easy and to further that statement to you all let me tell you this. Despite what you may think not a single one of you here today is allowed to enroll in this school yet." Before the man could continue gasps rang throughout the gym.
