I, The Dragon Overlord

Chapter 578 - Olympus and the Aesir Gods

“Oh God!!”

Whether it was the soldier with a gun in his hand or an expert holding a detector, all spectators were dumbfounded at the view before them.

What they saw was a wall of water, azure and yet transparent. In the forefront of the passage, a vast expanse of the ocean appeared, but what was eerie about this ocean was that as it approached the passage, the seawater didn't flow in. It was like an invisible barrier blocked its entry, confining it within the immense cavern ahead.

Beyond the seawater was a bizarre city that was upside down.

The researchers recollected themselves and checked their instruments, “Cannot be detected, and even the elevation cannot be measured. The instruments are not working.”

“According to my previous calculations, we are now at most nine hundred meters underground. With the most advanced locator in our hands and high-power radar stations that we placed, it shouldn’t be possible for this place to be hidden.”

The general said with a sullen face.

“It might not be a failure in the instrument, but that we are simply in a different dimension.”

The sudden words drew the crowd’s attention.

The one who said these words was none other than Gui Bin. He barely remained calm and swallowed his saliva, “I think everyone here should have already seen the secret files of the magic academy that appeared in the Welsh Sea.”

Gui Bin’s words enlightened the crowd.

That’s right. It had already been proven that the magic academy that appeared one day was not on Earth, and as a result, human technology was unable to measure its exact location. If the current situation was the same as that time, then it was easy to suspect they were not on Earth anymore.

“As expected, these tunnels are really part of the underground facility of the city. Those black things that we just saw were indeed human waste. This means that the city is inhabited and there may even be people at this moment. We have guessed that the underground city could not be above, but who would have guessed that the city is upside down!!”

The crowd bustled and began a heated discussion. Some people suggested returning to the surface first while some insisted that they should keep exploring.

“Look, everyone. This sign!”

The Greek research expert, in a state of excitement, shouted and pointed at a building in the city within the sea, saying, “...The emblem on that building is of the sea god Poseidon! Look at the tallest structure in the center of the city, with the emblem of Taurus! This city is Atlantis! It's Atlantis!!”

The expert shouted with excitement.

Atlantis?

Everyone looked at each other as there was almost no one who didn’t know about this name.

A scholar carefully asked, “Isn’t Atlantis supposed to be part of the West? Could it be that the South Pole had once been the Great Western Continent?”

“I’m not saying that this place is the Atlantis that we imagine. I’m saying that this city was probably created by the Atlantean civilization. These signs are exactly the hints that say that this place is Atlantis. As for why they would build a city here, I have no explanation for that.”

The Greek scholar shook his head.

The young researcher who initially studied the Cthulhu Mythos remained silent at this point. He was primarily a fiction enthusiast and had little understanding of the intricacies and details of these ancient cultures. However, he couldn't help but feel perplexed. The information they had gathered earlier seemed to point towards the ancient beings of the Cthulhu Mythos. So how did Atlantis come into the picture? Could there be a connection between the two?

“I have not researched much about the Atlantean civilization, but I want everyone to look at the farthest buildings. Don’t they seem out of place with the surrounding ones?”

A middle-aged man spoke out and pointed far inside. The eyes of the crowd were drawn to the location and indeed saw buildings at the farthest corner of the city that were completely different from the rest. The buildings were very rugged, and they didn’t look like the same civilization that created them.

“That’s ancient Nordic architecture, and I’m an expert who studies Nordic civilization.”

The crowd looked at each other with astonishment.

The appearance of Nordic architecture in a city suspected to have been built by Atlanteans made the scene extremely strange.

“Could it be that the gods of Olympus and the Gods of Asgard are united? Or could they be fighting?”

Someone suddenly opened his mouth and made a speculation that made everyone feel its plausibility.

Atlantis was originally a civilization found in legends. People had only read about this civilization in books and no geological or archeological traces of such a city could be found. As a result, many people believed that Plato had only fantasized about such a city as the ideal state of Greek civilization.

However, when supernatural powers appeared on Earth, many began to speculate that Atlantis was real, but that no one had found it. Now that traces of such a civilization were found under the Antarctic, it was only possible to attribute it to the gods, especially when Norse remains were also found on this site.

Everyone imagined a messy scene where the gods fought… Zeus, Athena, Apollo, Odin, Thor, Sif, and many other gods were fighting.

But there was also a possibility that they were united.

Olympic Gods, Aesir Gods, as well as the possible existence of the Cthulhu mythology, made this strange city even stranger.

The major who was leading the team gritted his teeth and addressed the crowd, “Whatever is here, we can only go in and find out.”

Saying so, the major raised his gun and carefully poked it into the wall of the sea in front of him. Then he quickly pulled it out again and looked at the muzzle, but he was surprised to find out that it was not wet at all, as if the sea in front was like jelly.

The major threw the gun to the ground and under everyone’s horrified gazes, he boldly extended his hand to the sea in front of him.

“Free mobility, hand perception present. Wait for me to try and go in and see.”

The people admired the boldness of this major and believed that he was truly worthy of being selected as the leader of this expedition.

“Sir, put on this oxygen tank.”

A soldier suggested.

The major shook his head and took a deep breath. Determined, he plunged into the sea ahead, and those outside were astonished to witness him instantly flip upside down as if the source of gravity had shifted to the top.

Within a few seconds, the major came back out of the sea. His body was not wet and his body seemed to reorient itself so that he was standing properly on the ground once more.

“There is no buoyancy in that sea. I walked in as if I was walking on the ground, but I could also swim up and down. The surprising thing is that there is air inside and I could breathe just as easily as I can now. I could tell that I was inside the water and yet I am not wet at all.”

The major’s words left the crowd stunned. Was this caused by some ancient technology or was this the power of the supernatural? What was in the city? Was it an Atlantean civilization, a Nordic civilization, or even an evil one?

The crowd’s curiosity was aroused and everyone agreed to go in to explore while forgetting the possible dangers!
